Thanks for the info. Nice to know. but my problem is, my side by side freezer is not staying cold enough. The frig is cool but the freezer only freezing the food about half way? the ice melted in the box and dripped out the front. It's like the compressor does not stay on long enough? I replaced the cap and relay on the side of the compressor but that didn't help? I set the temp a little cooler and it made some ice but didn't fill the tray. The next morning, after replacing the cap and relay, the ice was still in the box but the box was not full as it should have been after 24 hours. The fan in the freezer is working and also the one in the bottom back. Could the temp sensor be bad? If so do you have to replace the whole panel? Thanks Rick
I have the same model. First, I removed the front panel a removed a lot of dust/debri from coils. No frost on coils, fan running, relay showing 0.5v, condensor cool, condenser fan not running, control board showing same as video, receiving power, tapping relay caused fan to move. So pretty much the same as this video. Ordered a control board. Overnight the unit started cooling properly. Was I in defrost mode?
I have a gs6shaxmloo do you know what wire on control board starts the defrost? Fridge works perfect but will not defrost, replaced defrost thermostat, heating element, condenser fan. Thanks
I had a similar problem w/ a KitchenAid. Turns out it was a worn/burnt out solder joint at the relay for the compressor+fan. I cleaned it up and resoldered it (and installed an assist wire) and resolved the problem. Wonder if that was the condition your board was in since tapping it brought it to life a little.

Hello all. Looking for help with a 24 year old Whirlpool side-by-side (Model GD25DQXFB01) and it suddenly died on me. While plugged up, I can hear a clicking...as if it's trying to turn itself on or start cooling. But it never does. It clicks off again. While clicking the lights inside dim momentarily. Any ideas of how I can fix it myself?
Hi there... please help... my fan work but inside the refrigerator the freezer only goes down to 36°F... the aluminum piece inside was froze but just on the first one at the bottom....the inside fan works as well...

The control board is responsible for defrost. No timer on this unit. Have you made sure there is no warm air leaking into the freezer? Also test out all your components and be sure they are functional. Be sure to use OEM direct replacement parts. If it’s not direct replacement then your ratings will be off allowing too much defrost or not enough.
The repair company replaced the rear circuit board and it still did not cool or operated all is there another panel behind the front I suspenser control panel?
When fridges stop cooling that does not automatically mean that the control board is at fault. Sounds like you need to find a different repair company to properly diagnose and fix your refrigerator.

ours doesnt cool below 50 degrees and the compressor and fan does run, how do we get to the evaporator to inspact ours for ice?

Was I in defrost mode?
Best way to see if you were stuck in defrost mode was to test the 3 pin wire harness that has the compressor and defrost output.

How do you find out which relay does that?
If a relay has lost contact due to poor soldiering, then once you wiggle that relay, you will be able to see slight movement of the soldier joints.
@@sethdaboss245 there isn't a lot of relays but it would probably be the biggest one since the compressor is the biggest "motor" in a refrigerator.
