Hey man great to see the algorithm is finally recommending your channel, you deserve it. Question: why are some elite players like yourself, willing to spend several hours in "frustation zone" while others give up after reaching enough negative interactions? Why some players rage quit while others keep pushing forward?
Thank you so much :) it's kinda died back down after that initial wave of promotion, but I'm so grateful it happened at all! I think that comes down to the learned helplessness and locus of control. Players who perservier probably hold the belief that they will succeed with enough effort. Another thing is the value of the accomplishment, i think elite players are probably much more likely to identify with being good at first person shooters, and therefore these accomplishments provides a good ego boost. Contrast this with someone who is *only* playing for fun, and you could imagine that there's no real reason for them to put up with frustration when they can just lower the difficult and go back to having fun.
@@ControllerQuickSwaps Well I think you can catch it up again lol I ask this because in my opinion, the best and more rewarding experience you can get out of DE is by playing on the hardest difficulty. Yea I feel that as well. I'd say that it's the result of strong dissonance between the actions we'd take and the actions we're seeing on screen. When watching a skilled player the specifics may be different, but the gyst- "get armor, prioritize heavies" is the same. But when watching someone who is not great choose actions that are so dramatically suboptimal, that probably creates a very strong "something is wrong" signal in the brain.

Haha I tried to tackle that exact question in the neuroscience of playing like shit video. Basically my idea is that stress and adrenaline minimizes false negative (not doing something when you meant to do) but this also amplifies false positive (doing something you didn't mean to do)
The emphasis on learning is important. Humans enjoy watching others perform skilful activities relevant to them because it helps them learn, and there were heavy positive selection pressures on learning techniques. The prediction follows that people will get more enjoyment from watching those play who are more skilled than them, and less enjoyment from watching those play who are less skilled. Anecdotally I think that prediction is accurate.
