Setup Intex 18' x 9' Ultra XTR pool (26355EH)

  • I purchased an Intex 18' x 9' x 52" Ultra XTRA Frame Rectangular Pool (26355EH) this year: 2021. This video walks you through what is in the box and how to assemble the pool from ground cloth - filling it with water.
    Note: Setting up the pump is not included in this video.
    Intex 18x9 ft pool claims it only takes 60 -90 minutes to assemble; I wanted to test how accurate this was. For the first time ever setting up the pool, taking breaks to read the instructions carefully, 2 people setup this pool in 2 hours. After we completed this setup for the first time, I really believe we can get that time down in between 60-90 minutes. I had NEVER setup a pool before.

    Words of advice:
    - Make sure your foundation work is level and solid before starting the setup (Patio Paver Project video coming soon)
    - Open all of the boxes first and organize the parts
    - check the parts for dents that could interfere with assembly (we had 1 bent end on a pole, i was able to fix with pillars)
    - Have at least 2 people helping with setup
    - Clear a work area around the pool to make it easier to layout pieces and walk around

    • @carlytackles
      @carlytackles  3 місяці тому

      The legs when setup, take up an extra foot (10’ x19’) according to the manual. One thing to think about is that to setup the pool the u frame have to lay full flat and out away from pool. If the deck has a railing- make sure you allow for the length of the U frame on each side plus the pool dimensions or your setup will be difficult

      The frame sits out a bit so the space of the pool is 19’ x 10’. I did a video on the patio setup if you find that helpful. I will tell you that I wish i would have the patio wider than I did. When setting up the pool it would have been nicer to have a bit more room to work with the U frame pieces.

    • @carlytackles
      @carlytackles  2 роки тому

      The filter that comes with the pool is a sand filter. You can buy a separate thing so you can pour pool salt into the pool vs chlorine and other chemicals. We have both the sand filter and the salt water system

      @MrCobra376 2 роки тому

    • @carlytackles
      @carlytackles  2 роки тому +1

      Since we purchased the salt system, we did not use any chlorine. I think to get started with salt system, we used 1-2 bags of morton pool salt. In terms of brands, we didnt have too many options, it was one we could fine locally and it seems to do the trick.
      It terms of sand, i want to say the pump doesnt hold that much at a time. I think 1 50lb bag will do the trick for first and second year. The brand we tried is HTH pool filter sand. It does say it is compatible with salt systems.

      I did a separate video on the base: Carly Tackles...Paver Patio for a Pool
      ua-cam.com/video/BU5c7Eay3VE/v-deo.html
      I also went slim as possible on the width to save money, i regret it.
      The frame sits 10’ x 19’, according to the manual. The paver base came to 10.5’ and frame sits too close to the edge of pavers and they cant handle the weight. It would have been better of the frame landed more in the center of the pavers.

    • @carlytackles
      @carlytackles  2 роки тому +1

      The frame sits about 10’ x19’. You want the pool frame to be centered on the pavers other wise the weight will cause the pavers flip and shift. I used a combination of sizes, 8x16, 16x16, 24x16. I would recommend one of the 2 bigger ones for the frame. You can check out my other video on the setup. I would make it bigger than i did.

  • @KirkNank

    • @carlytackles
      @carlytackles  2 роки тому +2

      The frames bottom dimensions are 19’ x 10’ according to instructions. I find that to be close to true. I wish my patio i made was wider so the frame could be in the middle of the pavers and instead of the end of them. The weight caused a few to shift

      It would be difficult to move all of the pieces together. The corner pieces float vs lock in, and they hold the sides up and in place. I would think if you tried to move it the sides would fall down. The U brackets do snap in into the poles so that would move with you. We are using a Salt Water System. The instructions said upon setup expect to use 115 lbs which is about 3 bags. I think we used 3 bags plus a some of bag 4. Since initial setup, we haven’t had to add much salt, but we do keep the debris cover on it when not in use. We have probably used 6 bags of Salt, including the setup. So much cheaper than buying chlorine.

      For the Paver portion: Width is 10' 8" and Length is 24'
      The internal sand is about 9' x 18'

    Great video. How much extra space would you need on each side besides the pool as it supports extend the pool liner wall?

      The manual says 10’x 19’ but i would add extra foot to each end. 11’x 20’ would be better
