Someone from Chase likely stolen the money. When the person in this story switched his money to another account and asked Chase not to link it to Zelle and they still did, something seems fishy. Lol
I wanted to post my personal experience with Zelle & as a result a public service announcement regarding the peril of Zelle. On a Christmas day of 2023, I inadvertently Zelled some money meant for my niece to my former sister-in-law. Unfortunately I found out after the fact that I had the wrong / old mobile # in my contact list so it went to the wrong person. I contacted my bank 2x & filed 2 disputes. They made an attempt to collect the funds from a person named Jian Han at Chase Bank that was unsuccessful & they said that based on their investigation I have no recourse but to try to collect the monies myself. Needless to say after my many attempts to contact that person, they refused to return the funds to me. As a word of warning to others , so it doesn't happen to you, ALWAYS double-check the mobile # or email address with the recipient before you Zelle as you'll never get your money back if you make a mistake 😢. That said, be careful using Zelle.
I would NEVER put a zelle app on my phone. If a transaction to zelle is made, I do it directly from my bank and I see it immediately. Any texts or emails asking if I made a zelle payment I ignore. I would check with my bank directly to verify the so called payment.
This is why I have a bank account at another bank with never more than $500 in it for using Zelle. The crooks will surly be disappointed when they attempt to hack that account…

These banks don’t allow contests or refunds of the transfers. Since when is that okay? I tried it out to make a purchase and was never sent the product. And the bank couldn’t care less.

A hack and a trick is not the same thing. If you're hacked and you had nothing to do with it, you will get your money back. If you fall for a scam and help the scammers you won't. Not that complicated.
It is absolutely the banks responsibility to refund the money taken fraudulently. I use zelle and they should have checks to make sure the transfer is coming from the correct account owner
Its actually not. These scammers are usually using your debit/credit card numbers to do the transactions. The disputes actually go to visa or mastercard, they make the decisions, banks don't.
@Lily Pomainville Zelle does not use a debit card or credit card. You enroll using either by phone or email that is linked to your checking or savings. It's similar to doing an ach transfer, but without giving our you checking account info and faster. You can Zell without a card. My credit union accounts don't have cards I Zelle with them.
@@lilyelise720 that's not how disputes work either the only way visa and Mastercard comes in is if bank does a chargeback then mastercard and visa are like the mediator for the chargeback. Master/visa can favor in the merchants end through arbitration the bank can still deny on your end. They generally try to get money from merchant first. If not they do investigation. if a claim is denied that is the bank decision due to compelling evidence which can come from merchant. Zelle is completely different. Most Zelle claims of fraud are denied because of the nature of the transaction.
People use Zell all the time and forget to change number or email. The worst is the phone number they many not register the number and have someone send because it's on their account. Now someone else got their funds if they have that number registered. And banks can't get back. It's crazy. People need to research financial process to know how the new program works. When I use Zell I make them request it I will never just send it with info they give

Deleted Zelle as soon as I started hearing hackers, scammers & bankers love Zelle. Red flag right there..

You have to connect this Zelle thing to your bank account. Do NOT connect it or go to a credit union that does NOT use zell
Credit unions are either using Zelle or a similar p2p transfer
