Thinking they've done nothing wrong even as they do wrong is a character trait they all share. "Strict catholics" murdering, pimping, taking usury to a whole new level, beating on anyone who doesn't bow down to them. It's like they all went to school for narcissism and graduated with honors
Like when he mentions Ginny as the "fat bitch with devil dogs" before calling Johnny Sack's house and telling Ginny "Hi sweetie it's your secret admirer."

It's hard to rationalise this as being dumb by Ralph. He completely fingers who did it and how based on remembering who exactly was in the large crowd of people who heard the joke, without Paulie himself even having been at the event. Watching stuff like this back you realise that as despicable as he was the guy really was kind of a genius.

Joe Pantoliano earned that Emmy for every single scene he was on the camera. IMO he gave the strongest performance out of any actor in the series save for James Gandolfini. He stole every single scene he was in.

I think almost everyone nailed their character and this is why makes the show so successful, every character is different and well act so you wont feel bored watching it.

Opening that hysterical exchange with the "lights on with the Clapper" moment was comically brilliant! Paulie's mom was both the saddest and sweetest of all Soprano's characters and made me want to comfort her. I'll bet she made one helluva meatball too!
As despicable as Ralph was, no one deserved that prank more than Paulie. That one was coming a long time and for all his betraying Paulie got off easy.
