Pro tip for reassembly:- Stick the bolts through the top holes from the INSIDE. That way, you can hang the spacers and the wheel carrier on them, loosely screw a couple of nuts on and it'll all stay in place while you refit the other four bolts correctly. Finally, undo the two top bolts again and fit them correctly as well. Also, once you've got all six nuts and bolts finger-tight, give the wheel carrier a bit of a jiggle so the bolts can all locate themselves properly. Also, also, much as it might be tempting to tighten the nuts, on the inside, tighten the bolts on the outside instead. If you tighten the nuts, on the inside, you'll damage the paint and create areas where rust can set in.
Great tip wish I saw this first before I explored on my 03. D2. To help others let me add what I did. The only thing you need to drill is the bracket itself. The 2 spacer plates are fine the way they are. It is not that hard to drill at all. Just flip the spacers and use it as a template and center punch the new middle holes on the bracket and re install :)...

Been wanting to do that on my 03 for a while now. Thanks for the upload.
You should cut the relief in the carrier for the wiper.
