apparently everything in half life 2 is covered in moon rocks
The Combine covered everything in moon rocks incase Cave Johnson ever returned. They fear him, so they had to take percautions
Just what I was thinking
I think the portal gun works on a few surfaces other than moon rocks. It’s just that materials on the moons make portals more stable than standard materials, hence why portal tests from the 60’s worked.

Fascinating! We seem to have developed a very fast teleport!
I don’t know if there is actually a trigger there that would cause that but I think I could try testing to see if that can actually happen. However, what I don’t know is if they mounted half life on Portal or Portal 2. It would be helpful to know that, but then again I could probably replicate the same thing with noclip. I will update this as soon as I get home and test it out though.

Well Black Mesa is just a failed Aperture.
They stole loads of schematics from Aperture and they even tried their hands on teleportation and opened up a portal to an invading species compared to apertures moon dust based portal.

Scattered across the video, there are many funny little quirks like this. One example is the lady who asks "were you the only ones on that train?" Actually said "Well Gordon freeman! And about time too!" As if she was about to follow and be added to the squad. Also many things did not load because using portals skipped a lot of triggers. Also alyx did not bend down in her intro because that animation is not oresent in portal's game content. Same manner caused alyx to stare and contemplate the vending machine!

another idea is that you could switch between the 2 people when doing different "missions" as in when you play gordon you do all the combat missions and when you play chell you do the puzzle/aperture missions.

Good video, the little "yes" "no" headshakes were a nice touch.
So, basically with the Portal Gun, you play as Chell. Probably because it was just ported to Half-Life 2 and it wouldn't work without Chell's model.
With Chell's model and the ending and opening, it feels like this whole walkthrough was a dream Chell was having while she was knocked out after the Wheatley fight. That's how I'd describe it.
wrong, you can grab the portal gun with any model. but the OP created a story where Chell is the protagonist in this story.

So the game forces Chell's model because they are currently playing Portal.

Zack Ross I think on the 360 version there's a long complicated process involving signing in and out and opening the Xbox menu at certain times. Actually lots of glitches involve that. Kind of like the Japanese version of Monster Hunter 2 or 3 that let you continually farm for Microsoft points.

yes maby but it still does not answer the question that how can you see it when your deep deep down in an underground base :-)
well the whole building's travel system is elevators (and stairs to employes) . And in the game it is devised by floors so the lab can only go down so far until metal melts approximately 5000 ft - 2500 ft underground. Plus every level we play on has a certain number of feet to the roof. Including portal, portal 2, portal stories mel, and aperture tag. I calculated it and the spaces apart from every level in these game are too far from the original number approximately 9000! So the elevators in the games are criss crossed and horizontally (or straight if you didn't go to school) allowing space underground. So in that particular part, that dome shaped level is in fact not only to the surface but is 3 stories high. This would give the best control to Wheatley and GLaDOS because not only would it be safe but it would also be confusing to anyone that planned to escape the lab of GLaDOS. But you won't see this scientifically proven true comment because you commented 5 months ago. I hope this helps you with you comment even though this is in a videogame and not in real life.

Can you go to places where the game normally doesn't let you? Like inaccessible background areas? For instance, in 3:34 there's a door that closes automatically to lead you to another for questioning. Can you portal yourself in the area behind that closed section?
+Imgema Yeah you can enter places like that but they are usually incomplete/boring with no textures etc. Why waste time mapping areas players would never normally see?

If you try the gravity gun in portal without using the portal gun, you can't get past chamber 02.
