@@oakiewoodsman honestly used to you could get a grinder for like $10 at HF. those things used to run and run you couldnt hardly kill them. They used to include extra brush's with them as well. not the best grinders but they worked.
I was super happy when farm scrap told me about that stuff. It certainly is a good deal. I should try the wire that came with the welder as well, I haven’t done that yet.
I don’t think there was ever a better time. They are so inexpensive and super capable easy machines where you can focus on technique because the machines are very smart. Thank you sir!
right on man! Make sure you do the registration. That is the key to the LSA to get batteries swapped. I have never used the grinder so I hope you like it man. I really would like to get that thing. I bought some ICON T handles today however...... I need to stop the madness!
For me, having several grinders with different wheels, brushes, discs on them can make things go smoother. Mine are all corded. From your last welding video, I get the feeling the battery power supply will actually work better than the generator for small projects. Will have to remember that yeswelder wire👍🏻 Only tried one cheap roll of e71t-gs and wasn't a fan, I typically get either Hobart or Lincoln e71t-11 for flux wire.
Thank you, AP. Can I ask what you were not not impressed with? Was it how smooth it laid down or did it splatter too much or not cut in enough or something else?
100% AP. several grinders with different wheels makes things alot nicer. I usually run Esab wire in my mig. I havent had any issues with. I also havent bought any in years lol. 44lbs spool is whats in my machine
@oakiewoodsman from what I remember, it had more spatter, the slag was much more difficult to remove, and the fact that gs is an "agreed upon specification" not certification, not approved for structural or multi-pass applications.
If you’re going to be welding on equipment and outdoors then get a 220 stick welder you don’t have to drag the welder around just have 50 ft cables on it. If you’re welding inside all the time then mig is good but get a bottle of gas and run plain wire, flux core sucks.
There's nothing better for budget welding on sub-1/4" than flux core, especially for inexpensive lower-amp "Amazon" MIG/flux core welders. Purchase of a gas bottle & gas is cost-prohibitive for lots of folks. If you don't get good results with flux core, did you remember/know to switch the electrode polarity to DCEN (opposite MIG polarity)? If this is not done, the weld quality will be nonexistent. Good stuff and welder is very handy!
Absolutely! Lots in store for this machine.
Always can use several grinders.
😁

For the money, you could really have a few with different wheels on them and never switch!
@@oakiewoodsman i agree.
👍👍👍good tip on affordable wire. My experience- dig into a project and you will learn more about your skills and equipment.

Morning & Merry Christmas
Good morning Todd and merry Christmas to you as well
Thanks for the shout out and can't wait to see you welding one of the best skill you will ever learn
I have the bug. I want to do it way more neighbor.
Mornin
Morning!
Good stuff Joe. Looking forward to the welding video.
Lots coming as usual! We have picked back up on the treehouse as well
Be sure and use safety glasses for sure when using wire wheels. those things will throw those wires in a hurry
Absolutely! Those and zip discs demand at least glasses👍🏻
Thanks for bringing that up! I am glad I have this stuff on hand now!
Funny enough, my dad just bought a small welder wanting to teach himself. Should be a good time. Keep cuttin' brother!

hahaha its all about the parent metal prep
😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got the rigid grinder for Christmas lol. After hearing what you had to say about rigid you sold me, so we’ll see!
18v that is with a 4AH battery

@TheRustyGarageandHomestead 👍🏻 have had no complaints with Esab solid mig wire or stick electrodes. Actually, Esab is my favorite brand for E6011's

Hmmm . . . Welding on top of dead leaves. I hope it rained a lot! 🤨
