keeping your body in shape and healthy helps to look good in any clothing.
Truth!
Totally agree about tailoring. I realised that all my jeans and chinos had been about two inches too long - pretty much my whole life. I had them all hemmed and now they look so much better. And it cost less in total than buying a single new pair of jeans (thereby also saving on landfill and resources).
5 ways to dress better in 2022:
1:59 - Wear fewer colors (neutral colors)
3:20 - Add a new accessory
4:29 - Add a collar
5:16 - Nail your socks (solid colors, no crazy socks)
6:30 - Find a tailor
Thank you very much.
My style sky-rocketed from the day I started choosing neutral coloured outfit over eye-catchy brighter colours.
The No.5 is great advice that will make you 10X stylish.Having your extra fabrics tailored makes your outfit even more luxuries.
For instance,my friends didn't used to complement my outfits before but since I started wearing tailored outfits, they complemented and inquired me about my outfit.
Apart from above mentioned points adding at least a watch as an accessory is enough to make someone stylish in a crowd.
I see you as inspiration because like you I am on the shorter frame side and your contents make me feel confident in my own skin.😊❤️
Gosh, that’s it! I’m going to a tailor! Thanks. Brock!
Out of all the style gurus on social media, your style best matches my own. The one area we have always disagreed, though, is novelty socks. I still think they can add to an outfit when done right, i.e. choosing coordinating colors and appropriate patterns. I do agree that they have no place with nice suiting, but for casual to business casual, they can work and can add a degree of approachability to your style. As always, though, personal comfort level is important too. Thanks for doing such a great job, Brock, and I appreciate your professionalism so much. Still my number 1 style guy! 😁
Good points, and I agree fun/bold socks can be done correctly and enhance an outfit. Plus, if you like them, gotta wear them! Happy new year, Scott!
@@BrockMcGoff Happy New Year to you and your family too!
Big +1, especially on the weekend or a casual weekday setting a themed/novelty sock can add that subtle pop of fun to an otherwise neutral fit.
Proceed with caution (e.g. avoid beer or other tacky themes) and likely hold off on too many other accessories if doing so, but give it a shot and see how it goes.
Happy new year Brock!
💯 agree. Novelty socks have their place in a wardrobe.
@@roman540 big difference between novelty socks and colored socks. Bold colors etc may have a place but novelty ones just don't in a classic timeless sense of style. Which is what you should be aiming for.
I think your advice regarding neutral colors is great for most men with paler skin. Those with olive and darker skin can look incredible in brighter and stronger colors. They wear the color, rather than the color wearing them.
Great challenge at the end there! I can attest to how much a difference a tailor makes. I started 2021 by taking a few things to a tailor and it’s been over a year and I’ve made a good standing relationship with mine. It makes a huge difference of how you feel with tailored clothes. Even one article of clothing! Plus, I had a wedding to attend at the end of last year and my tailor knew how to get me the look I wanted for that event. FIND A TAILOR. You won’t be sorry.
Tailoring is the secret to looking awesome.
Happy New Year, Brock! Thanks for the refesher. Discovered your channel a few ago and it really made a difference. I have become a more intuned age approprate, intelligent and less lmpulseive shopper for it. Always thinking how best can I incorporate the item that l'm about to purchase across my wardrobe long term. I have also become a great fan of keeping it simple and less is more and that fit is truly the ultimate style KING! dispite the cost of having a exprienced tailor.
Thanks again
I have watched so many influencers on UA-cam they always talk about trends and some guys like always can’t keep up with trends. I really like the fact that you stick with classics and help us dress better.Thank You very much.
Happy new year to you and your family 😊.
just discovered your channel in an effort to level my style game up and it was vindicating to learn that i practice most of these "secrets" already.
im on the shorter side as well (5'7") and finding a good tailor changed my life. im very particular about fit and i have no qualms about spending a little more coin for clothes that fit properly.
we share similar notions on fashion and i love your style. subbed!
Happy New Year... Great video
Great tips. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!
Love your videos! I'm in my 30s and finally trying to stop wearing vans and hoodies all the time. I've made a few changes with help from you and I feel so much better already.
Great video as always!
Great vid! Awesome mix of pics and chit chat 😎
It was one of your previous videos that made me seek out a tailor so fully onboard with the idea now! I bought a suit a few years ago, but I've dropped weight in the meantime. So the trousers were a good 1.5" too big round the waist and the legs, frankly made me look fat! Just before Christmas I took the trousers to a tailor and had the waist taken in and the legs tapered. It was a little over £30 (~$40) And considering the alternative was to buy a complete new suit, at £££s, its such a cost saving!
Love the channel Brock. Keep up the good work
Great vid 🖤
Love your tips
Fantastic
Simple, coordinated, and practical! God bless you and your channel!
I love your vlogs, any new style tips for visiting Europe and specifically Paris and Berlin in fall of 2022. These tips are fairly universal and are a great start. Thank you tips they are always spot on and extremely beneficial!!
Happy New Year, Brock!
Thanks for your videos and the information man
Great tips!
Your guidance is super 👌 awesome for clothes
Great advice. I enjoy your videos. Well done.
I followed your advice, and it really changed my appearance and boost my confident, thanks man!!
I make and keep my New Year's resolutions. About 35+ years ago I resolved never to go out at night without a collar on my shirt. It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made.
As always, the tried ad tested advice that never fails!!
I do everything you mentioned spontaneously ^^
great video, love your honest take on mens fashion. You were just in the most recent Ashley Weston video btw! Can you update your business casual video for 2022?
I am not short. I am not thin. And I am not young. But, I am proof that the tips you give are among the best, and can be used by everyone. Thanks for the great advise. It has certainly made a difference in my own style.
Great video! I really enjoyed these tips.
Thank you, sir!
I like your tips. They correspond well to how I like to dress myself!
great stuff
Excellent video! Very informative! Thank you for posting! I really appreciate your approach to men's fashion!
Haha - that long fade to black scared the crap out of me !!! Excellent video! Such great common sense solutions, detail, and examples all delivered with smooth authority. Just starting to jump on the tailor train!
Never thought about the socks. Cheers Mr Man, will try it out
Welcome back! It's been quiet sometime since I saw anything from you! Loved the video post and the valuable tips and information.
Thanks for watching and happy new year!
Great tip about more neutral colors, I sometimes see some vibrant colors that look great on their own but are impossible to pair with an outfit after I buy it.
Yeah, I try to buy things that fit into the whole wardrobe vs. stuff that might look great but is hard to pair. Then again, the occasional statement piece isn't a bad idea!
Great advice for any age. Turning 40 this year and recently discovered the power of a tailor. If there is 1 thing I could tell my 20 year old self to do regarding clothes it would be make friends with a tailor! Clothes fit better, look better, and it has actually saved me money.
Keep creating more videos and i really injoy listening 🎧 to it. Very soothing voice.
I was gonna do this thanks for reaffirming it
Socks are such a big thing! I've noticed this so much and Uniqlo color socks have helped me so much. When I nail the sock matching, I feel great, but when there's too much contrast between my shoes or trousers, it throws off the feeling of the whole outfit.
My God his videos are sooo clean and beautiful 🥺❤️
Regarding tailoring, if you can find a brand that fits you well (even for a few items), you can save a lot of money in tailoring expenses. I've mostly been able to avoid getting my shirts tailored, just by shopping around until I found a few brands that worked for me. Furthermore, some alterations are cheaper than others (such as adjusting the length of sleeves and legs). Therefore, I can still save money if I only have to get a few inexpensive alterations.
Can't agree more on top no. 5 a tailor. We usually go out to Zara and other stores for a ready made shirt or trouser but a tailor can make it look perfect 😍
Thank you for the sock tip.
Este es el vídeo necesario para empezar el año con fuerza y estilo
I used to watch a few fashion channels, now it’s just you. Good stuff! 👍
Happy New Year! Love your videos! Just a suggestion, you may want to adjust your mic stand so that it is not in the video.
Ah, great point - socks as transition from pants to shoes.
New sub here! Awesome tips, sir! And they are awesome because they are "doable."
Still need to try the last one. but I do think once this new "hack" is attempted, it's going to be a true game-changer. Enjoying your content...
Thanks,nice video as always
Thank you!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Where is that gray button down from? It fits so well!
On the topic of tailoring, most simple jobs can be done yourself with a cheap sewing machine :) hemming, taking in shirts, tapering shirts and pants etc. Highly recommend!
Love the sock tip! Never thought about getting solid neutral colors before. Btw, just signed up for the Morning Brew. I'm a business student so this is right up my alley.
Nice!
Dude, post more often tf, like am young and I really need to know how to leave my own mark in my stylr, pls, thank you, great day also.
Happy new year. It's been a while since I got a popup from your YT
Yup more coming soon. Happy new year!
Ive ALWAYS liked the "Modest Man"
Great video as always Brock! Question on bracelets - was looking at the ones you linked and watched the previous video you did on the topic. If I have wrist size of 6 3/4 - what size bracelet would you recommend for me? I see the ones are on Miansai are 7.5 for medium. Thanks!
I always and mostly ever wore dark colours except in the summer maybe.
I realized that when it comes to hemming pants, I will obviously hem my dress pants/trousers a bit shorter than my jeans. If my jeans are skinny, I don't mind them being hemmed touching the tongue of my sneaker... but if its a slightly wider slim fit then I won't mind it breaking at least once.. I just think it depends on the style you're going for and type of jeans. For example street wear vs more formal or business casual look with jeans.
I'm over 40 and finally - I'm trying to look accurate ;) Happy New Year!
Happy new year to you!
Great video , first time watcher here ... Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷

5 great tips Brock
Your hairstyle is great
Hi Brock,
I’m a freshman in high school. I’ve been watching your videos for a couple months now, and I have to tell you I’ve fallen in love with them. The aesthetic, the editing, everything is done so well. Even more importantly, I love your style and the style tips you give. They have helped me so much in such a short time. I’m writing this comment as a thank you, but also to get some advice. Since I’m only 14, I’ve had a lot of trouble getting the right clothes. I don’t have the budget for expensive clothes, most adult clothes don’t fit me, and the clothes that I do buy I’ll probably outgrow pretty quickly. Also, Most kids my age are wearing “popular clothes,” which consist of baggy crewnecks and graphic t-shirts. I’m having trouble being stylish and not being overdressed. Also, I’m viewed by most people as being “vain” for caring about the way I present myself. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter, or anyone else reading this comment. Thanks again for the amazing videos and advice! -James
Hi James. I'd like to offer you a small piece of advice. At one point in my life I was just like you. While my friends glamorized big name brands and baggy clothes, I cared about quality and a proper fit. But with that being said I feel it is a mistake to completely cut out any current style trends. The style for these videos and many others like them are a bit more mature. And although they offer great advice, I would not exclusively use them to dictate your style. Try to implement some modern designs if possible. Something as simple as a modern pair of Jordans or nike might do the trick. They will make you more approachable and relatable. Just make sure it is something you like and that works with your current style.
I think, caring about what I wear is subjective but I find these videos interesting regardless!
Getting good socks is great advice. It really can change an outfit because of how they combine with our jeans, shorts, etc. Its an inexpensive way to improve our look. Currently working on this one!
thak you man
Cheers, Brock.
Hello, I doubt you’ll ever see this comment but I just wanted to say how grateful I am for your channel! I’m currently closeted transgender man and these videos are very helpful for me. Being raised female, as well as not having a very present father, these videos have provided me resources and information I wouldn’t have been given otherwise. I’m also 5’6, with small shoulders and wide hips, and have been very insecure over my body. Hearing you talk about how confident men don’t care about their height has really helped me in so many ways. The fashion advice you give has been very useful for me too. Thank you for the videos and articles you produce.
Peeped the new datejust! Does this mean we have a new state of the watch collection video coming soon?
Happy New Year, Brock :)
Just a loaner, sadly! Love the blue dial. Yep, I’ll do an updated collection soon!
for #3, what do you think of long sleeve polos, or long sleeve mockneck/turtle neck tees to replace those crew neck long sleeve tees?
Love the content, love your style. I am not comfortable with not wearing socks with my minimal leather sneakers. What color socks are recommended for brown and white sneakers with dark wash jeans and all color chinos. Thank you very much.
I agree with the watch. Also, just changing the watch strap/band to a different color, material, design, can go a long way.
What are your suggestions on a a well fitted boot cut jeans
Hey modest man, first time checking out the channel but I'm trying buy some essentials and want good quality stuff but not a common brand that is not expensive. like one of the things I'm looking for solid long sleeve shirts
Hi, greetings from Malta 🇲🇹 some useful tips.
Greetings 👋🏼
What’s your opinion on Chup socks? They are loud, but with more classic patterns.
Hey Brock, long time subscriber here. What is your opinion about the Sturmanskie Gagarin as a budget "Space" watch?
Nice watch
Thanks! It was just a loaner but I really enjoyed the blue dial.
Love the channel, a Taylor is the best investment you can make. I have recycled clothes with tailoring and simple alteration of shirts, jackets, and pants. Keep on hemming....
In the UK we have loads of full tracksuit Wally's.
Could I ask where you got that overshirt you are wearing in this video? Thanks!
I saw in one of your other videos that you don't live in NYC anymore, but do you have any suggestions of tailors you trusted when you were here? I miss my tailor back in CA that I took everything to.
I like the shirt your wearing. What material is that?
Hey a small tip. if you are struggling with sleep, I recommend you do Yoga Nidra. Just search in YT, there plenty of them.
nice rolex!
Thanks!
I haven't come across any videos with tailoring tips. Great advise from this channel and channels like this but no one has offered advise on where to hem the pants for multiple styles and what a good leg opening would be for those styles.
Tailoring has gotten expensive because of my mistakes and now I have two tailors I use. One to tailor my clothes and another to go to when I messed up on choosing the tapper, the crop and the hem and leg opening.
Basically I go to the other tailor when I don't want to be embarrassed.
same, I think the best thing to do is pick some of your favorite clothes that fit good and keep looking at the mirror / study why you like these clothes so you can better explain to your tailor what you want. You can also bring in these clothes to show them as examples so he can get what you want
Great video. May I know where you got the jeans? Looks incredible.
Thanks! The dark ones are from Nudie - www.themodestman.com/nudie-jeans-review/
@@BrockMcGoff thanks!!
I had a time that match the tie with the socks, I was on finance on that time.
To simplify things I like to wear only white sox but with chukka boots.
I think the only thing I don’t get tailored are sweaters, which are hard to find for my short torso. If I ever find a brand that fits, you know I’m buying multiples.
