Awesome! I feel like close enough is good enough on light tackle and if you are going to fish jigs properly, it's not uncommon to lose a handful in a session which could break the bank!
Recent subscriber. Nice video! Couple of Q’s… which hobie do you own? Sport or Outback? Also, did you rely on willyweather swell data? I got a sport myself and would love to have an ocean sesh
I have the revolution 13, BUT I am 110kg, so smaller kayaks are not as stable. If you are sub 90kg, the sport is probably equally capable. I use willy weather, and after talking to the boat captain of a charter, he said that swell direction makes a big difference at long reef so it was likely accurate. I'm keen to get out there again but the kayak is off limits for a while due to a hamstring injury!
I would normally estimate where I think the fish are, e.g. where there are surface splashes I think the fish will be feeding just below the surface, then I would jig and wind with a small pause between each jig and wind. If I get no fish I will firstly try to sink a bit deeper and work different depths with the same retrieve, But if the different depths do not pay off I will vary my retrieval speed and pauses And if that doesn't work you might change areas or wait for something to come and feed on the bait school you have found
"Psych, I'll be playong video games"😂. Your comedy outshines even that stonker of a bonito! Btw, been looking for uof50 socks for ages - are yours just regular socks, or did you manage to find some that are sun-protection rated?
Nice catch, I recognize that jig! AliExpress special yeah? :)
Sure is! I have hundreds of them and I have no reason to change they work so well!
Loving the content mate. Got me onto some of the $3 to $6 aliexpress jigs, they actually look alright I can't lie

Thanks Dave 😊
maaan what a nice swells you got there lol Nice sesh and....skark lol ps that bonito
The swell didn't look as bad as it felt but felt like if it got much worse I could end up swimming with the little shark!
What a catch! May I ask how you retrieve when fishing bonito using jigs? Just cast out and roll in or let it sink in between?

They are just regular socks. You can get neoprene ones for diving that are way better because they don't get sand stuck in them

I'm glad I don't just crack myself up
