CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Mark (Jesse Eisenberg) shares exciting news about the business with Eduardo (Andrew Garfield), all while he has a crazy fight with Christy (Brenda Song).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven) teams with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) to explore the meaning of success in the early 21st century from the perspectives of the technological innovators who revolutionized the way we all communicate. The year was 2003. As prohibitively expensive technology became affordable to the masses and the Internet made it easy to stay in touch with people who were halfway across the world, Harvard undergrad and computer programming wizard Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) launched a website with the potential to alter the very fabric of our society. At the time, Zuckerberg was just six years away from making his first million. But his hearty payday would come at a high price, because despite all of Zuckerberg's wealth and success, his personal life began to suffer as he became mired in legal disputes, and discovered that many of the 500 million people he had friended during his rise to the top were eager to see him fall. Chief among that growing list of detractors was Zuckerberg's former college friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), whose generous financial contributions to Facebook served as the seed that helped the company to sprout. And some might argue that Zuckerberg's bold venture wouldn't have evolved into the cultural juggernaut that it ultimately became had Napster founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) not spread the word about Facebook to the venture capitalists from Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence) engage Zuckerberg in a fierce courtroom battle for ownership of Facebook that left many suspecting the young entrepreneur might have let his greed eclipse his better judgment. The Social Network was based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich.

Imagine being the very first boyfriend to get bitched at because of their relationship status.
Hahhaha!!!!!
He can brag about that till kingdom come
And this is what caused thousands of break ups lol
Sounds flattering & an honor, lol
Psygnosis! Banging
What blew my mind about the social network that I didn’t notice until the 4th time I watched it: the only times mark spoke to Eduardo like a friend were the 2 times he needed his signature.
Clasdic Zucc.
Man, this movie is deep.
Classic zucc
What about the time the site launched and when Eduardo saw his name said, “You have no idea what this would mean to my father...” and Mark said, “Of course I do.”?

Andrew was something else in this movie
Brenda Song refused to study in Harvard so that she could pursue her acting career, then she played a character fighting a Harvard student in a movie

When the camera zooms in to Eduardo's face at 2:08 is one of the most brilliant shots that I've seen recently, David Fincher is a genius.

“If our servers go down for even a day our reputation is destroyed “ lmfao
Yup, that's exactly what happened
Mark call Eduardo to go back to sign so his shares to be liquidated? Am i right ?
yes. By this stage Eduardo was a liability. Plus Mark was angry about the account being frozen. I see it was bad business to have Eduardo on the pay roll any longer as he was dead wood. But they could have just given him notice and and given him a severance package.
MrOnlyforcommenting Do you blame him? What if Eduardo pulled a stunt that worked just to get Marks attention?
Unbelievable
No. This scene is the first setup of the company. Mark does not call him back for the liquidation yet at this point. From the movie, Mark and Wardo is the big share owner and when Wardo sign the papers he make sure Mark’s share is protected from liquidation and he is aware his can be diluted down. The thing is, Mark is too caught up with being cool and follow Sean’s advice. Sean might make him think that Wardo is never there to begin with even Wardo which might be true(for the managing) but I think Wardo is a great friend just not a great partner in the business and Mark, cut the ties...which not a great move from my side of opinion since a good business is fun to run with a good friends. 🤷🏻♂️. I don’t know about anyone else but I never socialize on fb anymore. just read shared articles or watch videos. The ones that you easily can find on google.
Ibrahim Khaziq Eduardo froze the account and almost destroyed the whole company. So that's exactly what this scene is.

London Tipton vs. Spider-Man
His greatest battle…
This scene depicts how sensitive people are when it comes to social media, one mistake and people are always on you.
Everytime Mark comments to someone about being a joke or a nobody, it shows that he is someone who you shouldn’t even get involved with because of these ridiculously condescending and arrogant comments.
If this scene ever happened, no way in hell Saverin could break up with that psychopath without a restraining order or the police force
It did happen actually but she didn't do that in his room but in hers, she also burned some of his clothes with the present. Pretty much he did break up just after that like in movie
Erica had every right to dump Mark, because of what he was saying, but Eduardo’s girlfriend was just crazy obsessed. Whatever misjudgement he made on Mark, Eduardo at least in this movie was a vulnerable man who just struggled to hold on to his business earnings.
brenda song is literal perfection
I’m here because facebook is down atm 😂
Behold!
The very first possessive girlfriend argument because of the relationship status.
looks like Eduardo froze the accounts again
Apparently this actually happened. During the early founding of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin had a girlfriend who was unstable, jealous and obsessive.
She was crazy when she whined about seeing Eduardo’s relationship status as single, but she leveled up to demented after burning that scarf, placing it in that metal bin on his bed, and knocking the bin to the side to burn his bed, which would’ve led to the room burning. If it weren’t for Eduardo putting out the fire, it would be guaranteed jail time for her. Mark’s ridiculous antics also didn’t help either.
They would have had the most legendary friendship if Mark didn't get so greedy...
Damn. The way Mark says "We did it" in a celebratory moment with Eduardo as he is coaxing him back to San Francisco to sign the documents so he can screw him over is cold as ice.
I have never seen that kind of young adult acting from Brenda before in my life.
the silhouette tracking shot of Eduardo... Fincher at his best
We don’t crash ever... RIGHT...
Even though we can all empathize with Eduardo for being frustrated with Mark, Eduardo made a lot of mistakes. It's not thag Eduardo wanted to really harm either Mark or Facebook; it's just that Eduardo made several errors of judgment. This is what Aristotle calldd hamartia, a misculation. He miscalculated that advertising was the proper way to generate revenues for the company. He also miscalculated the consequences of freezing of the account was. This waz by far his worst mistake. He thought that by doing that, he would have been able to reason with Mark, but Mark is a guy who hold grudges and who likes vengeance. Like the script says he's a guy with a very dangerous anger in him. Come on, he totally trashed his ex girlfriend online with total cruelty and meanness. By the time of this scene he was by far too consumed by Facebook to be able to recognize feelings or be grateful. Eduardo was either too kind or too naive to notice the monster Mark was indeed becoming. He failed to notice that Facebook was Mark's ticket to greatness. It was his way to transcend, to become important and successful, to be distinguished (remember thr first scene in the bar with Erica when he wonders how would he distinguish himself from a pool of geniuses?) Eduardo didn't see that for Mark it was not only business, it was personal, almost existential. When he threatened the company, he threatened Mark, and Mark didn't forgive it. The consequences for this mistake were tragic. The other mistake he made was confronting a problematic guy like Sean. He himself said it, he's a wild card. What could he expect from him? Especially when Mark totally worshiped the guy. He again underestimated the situation. He thought that by providing money he would have been able to control the situation. A normal, decent and healthy person would appreciate and thank this, but not Mark. Also, Mark quickly recognized that Sean was able to provide something that Eduardo didn't. Again, Mark being Mark valued this more than the money his friend first provided.
Ernesto Cardiel well said!
Peter Thiel , full stop . Vampirism and the surveillance state
Sorry but Eduardo was just straight up incompatible with the role that he was given (CFO). If you read the depositions, he was constantly holding up business deals (had to repeatedly be begged to come down and sign papers) because he was dead set on the idea that facebook should run ads. He refused to understand that people hate ads and that running them that early would have likely killed the site, and was hostile to good business deals that didn't come from him. But because he had controlling stake in the company, they had to go to beg him for approval every time.
If investors had found out about these internal administrative problems, they might decide to use it as leverage to get more shares in return for funding, among other things. So he had to go, but he wouldn't have gone willingly so they had to force him out using an admitedly underhanded move.
Nice writeup
Freezing the account was incredibly stupid and he should have been fired right then and there. Putting the entire company at risk for nothing? No sir.
How relevant that this shows up in my recommended today

@@slay2525 I could take it even further and mention how he doesn’t even know how to change his relationship status when he’s the CFO. It just goes to show how clueless and lazy he is with what’s going on with his company, pretty much shows incompetence in all aspects of his business. Or the fact that this break up from a toxic relationship is foreshadowing his and Marks breakup that’s literally about to happen.
