These are not domestic chickens but jungle fowl. Seems they have grey legs compared to yellow legs for domestic chickens. They are wild just like the otters, and very fast. They can fly short distances and run very fast, which has undoubtedly helped them to escape the curry pot in case anyone had ideas.😜
No, they are domestic chickens, not wild fowl. Anyway, these domestic chickens are also not common in Singapore. It depends on the initiatives of the respective town councils. And it is illegal for anyone to catch them so no one will do that. Just like fruit tress planted in public. It is an offence to pluck them.
Local term in Malay is ayam kampong or literally “village chicken”. These are actually wild chicken which are smaller in size and can fly short distances and in early days the villagers caught and bred some for their meat and eggs and it fetches a higher price as the meat is considered better and tastier.
Glad that you are finding these differences interesting. Reminds me of my first visit to Tokyo where I was blown away by how much cleaner the city was - even in the back alleys. You mentioned about unusual vending machines in Singapore, but I think Japan is the vending machine capital of the world. Yes, wildlife is starting to appear in areas where they were never seen before. We have to appreciate that they should live freely and not try to feed them as they will then be a nuisance and even a danger to humans like when monkeys become so bold that they snatch food from your hands. Enjoy your stay👍😄
Hi, I just want you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed your videos! It entertains and relaxs me when I am watching them. Thank you so much for the work! 🌻☀️🌻☀️
The is probably the most interesting video u had made so far for local audience! I am not sure if your Japanese audience feels the same, but you have helped Singapore audience to see things that we take for granted in our daily lives. Excellent job! By the way, the title is a little odd with minor grammar problems. But I dun have a better title to suggest yet. See if others have better suggestions for you. Still, thank you for the excellent video. Great 👍 Job
My English is not perfect but If I may suggest, the title of this video could be “A Japanese finds differences between Japan and Singapore. A street walk edition”.
Those are forest chickens, the ancestors of the domestic chickens that we raise for meat nowadays. Just like the otters, their numbers have probably increased over the years because we left them alone, which is exactly what wild animals need in order to thrive.
They fly by the way. Lol. I live in Toa Payoh and have seen the rooster fly from one tree to the next. Almost looks like a phoenix silhouette minus the flames :D The first three days of school in 2021, the kids had the rooster act as an alarm clock for them. 😂😂
O … so interesting …. TQVM for the great video. I didn’t notice many of these even tho I have lived here for more than half a century. The rapid massive changes is noticeably obvious tho n sometimes stressful.
Regarding the many ships you see off the waters of Singapore, they are parked there because Singapore is along a major shipping route between Europe and Asia. Everything that is shipped from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan has to pass through Singapore before heading to Middle East and Europe. It is also because Singapore's port is one of the busiest and largest in the world. It's more like a parking lot then a traffic jam.
The restricted area sign is displayed on land owned by the state or military zones. You will not be shot like what happened in North Korea, but will be charged for trespassing. There is an old abandoned TV town in Tuas which is now used by military for training, there's also such sign displayed too. There are some wild animals that normally don't appear openly before the covid19 pandemic. Now it's very common to see wild chicken, wild boars, wild otters, wild monkey, wild crocodile. It's illegal to feed the wild animals including the pigeon. It's also illegal to do fishing at the river or reservoirs if you see the warning sign displayed.
You are right about trash bins ... it's hard to find any in Tokyo. I end up carrying a plastic bag for my own trash whenever I go out during my trip to Tokyo.
those chickens with grey feet are junglefowl. those with yellow feet are chickens that have gone wild. also, it is illegal to jaywalk within 25m from a pedestrian crossing, but in your vid's case, it was not illegal
Thank You for your video and views. Yes, chickens (the wild variety) do fly but for short distances. Many have answered to your observations comparing Japan and Singapore. On the matter why there is so much litter bins, if you litter in Singapore and get caught you will be fine. There are back alleys that are dirty too. The salmon in the machine, I believe are farm type and not of the same quality as Tsukiji market. Orange juice machine is good but taste wise to me sour most of the time, hahaha. National flag display, I once ask for it and was in return asked - 'would I display it'? - I felt insulted and walk out. The mannequin (yes - Freddy Kruger) can be quite scary in the dark especially it waiving a light stick when you are driving. Yes, the otters are cute but bad news for us angler's, it means no fish. Not only pigeons many others including swift and parakeets, the latter are active just before dusk - looking for a spot to sleep. I believe these snails are similar in tropical areas, not certain if they are available in Okinawa but if introduce should be able to thrive there. Walking across street is no no, you can be fine also for jay walking.
For the protected areas with a rifle man poster, they are usually military operated bases of some sort. For the claw machine, some of the cheaper ones do not use authentic toys. Lol.
Depending on the region of Japan, midsummer is humider and hotter than Singapore😱 In summer in Japan, the temperature in some areas exceeds 40 degrees Celsius 🥵
There are literally a pedestrian "green man" crossing 50m to your left and right, when you crossed over to Maxwell Road food market. However it is not illegal to cross the road like that 😁
Obviously, Singapore is different from Japan just like every country is different from one another. Some points are of trivial matter such as the sudden downpour in Singapore, why there are many ships passing Singapore waters etc.
Those snails were not a native of this country. They were actually brought by the Japanese Imperial Army from Africa during their occupation of Singapore in 1943. Rice was scarce back then. Alternative food source had to be sought.
If you see 'Chicken' with black or grey feet, they are not chicken. They are wild 'Jungle Fowls'. The ancestors of domesticated 'Chicken'. Just as wolves are ancestors of dogs, wild boars are ancestors of pigs.
You will find rubbish bins everywhere in Singapore except the MRT stations. Because of the risk of terrorist bomb attack, all rubbish bins were removed from all MRT stations. If you are lucky, you can find a vending machine that sell chilli crabs 😁 Singapore is a shipping hub, all incoming cargo ships must queue up outside the ports, so you will see the scene of ships parking in the sea.

The music used is the music in the editing app [VLLO] and the song title is [Warm].
