Just to tell of my experience when I was in Tokyo almost 10 years ago or more. Everywhere I went, I met very kind and helpful and polite Japanese people may they be young, old or middle age. I was in a restaurant and nobody knew I was a foreigner until I spoke to order in English and when paying the bill, the young male waiter told me to take care of myself and have a nice trip. Then another day I was lost and asked for directions. The old lady couldn’t understand but she told me to wait and asked a person who could speak English to help me. And it was snowing at that time, I was having trouble walking on ‘snow’ roads and nobody pressed their horns at me even when the traffic light turned red. They patiently waited for me to cross. And while queuing to buy a train ticket, I took a long time, nobody told me to hurry. And while waiting for a friend outside a shop, an old man saw I was cold and told me to wait inside the shop. (I could understand a little bit of simple Japanese). And so many other little things that made my trip very wonderful 😊

Angpows can be very useful. For example you have neighbour who helped you out, but refuses to take payment. You can "give his kid his son/kids an angpow", that diffuses any embarrassment for him.

however traditionally you dun give out red packet until you get married and have a family.

Nice to hear your wife’s voice. Very sweet! And lovely to see both of you engage together!
If not, I would have mistaken that u marry her becoz of her charismatic mother (your funny mother-in-law)! Just kidding. U got a great family here!

I had an experience where I gave up my seat to an elderly man in Tokyo, got reprimanded instead. Ever since then, whenever I want to give up seats, I just get up and start walking to the next cabin instead. Of course not everyone was like that but I didn't want to encounter that againw
Also, I definitely agree that there's a lot more social pressure in Singapore to give up your seat. You can easily get stomped or be on Facebook for that.

Food price in Singapore is high because of high rental price, low in hawker and coffee shops also because rental is lower. I presume it is the same anywhere else. Of course Japan doesn’t have venues like a hawker centre, otherwise food price would be equally cheap I think

I gotta say I'm a little surprised the Japanese don't give up their train seats.. I always thought if any culture would, it would be Japanese culture.

Don’t get me wrong, some do! Especially in rural areas. People living in big cities are too stressed and tired - resulting in less sympathy towards others in my opinion

    都心に住んでいますが、妊娠中通勤電車に乗ると、ほぼ100%の確率で席を譲ってもらえました!しかも譲ってくれるのは男性が多く、日本人も捨てたもんじゃないなあと思いましたよ。
I live in the centre of Tokyo. When I was pregnant, I got offered a seat almost every time I got on a train to commute!

Yes, my neighbour (1 storey up) smoke and blow out of window, he is not wrong, but the wind blow into my house, it's almost like facing him/her and blow straight into my nose. The smell is so strong, I believe his/her lung is so badly damaged, and that makes it scary to breathe in the 2nd hand smoke.
And flushing the toilet, why is it too much effort to press the flush? the toilet is cleaner than your mobile phone, in case you wonder. Everyone keep clean and we will be using clean toilet. DON'T give excuse like saving water.

Smoking in public is not illegal in SG.
If it’s illegal then why you can buy cigarettes from public shops 😂😂
It’s only in Orchard where you can’t smoke out of the designated smoking area.

It is illegal to smoke within 5m of any entrance. So it's not completely illegal to smoke in public but it's very restricted.

@@GhibOjisan The cheapest I ever had in Japan (proper meal) was already JPY500. Beef bowl too. Sinkies are lucky to have SGD3 food (and yet everyday there is significant noise to whine that it is expensive).

The only place i appreciate 2nd hand smoke is in the public toilet. Those that are really public, not those in nice malls and hotels. I'm sure everyone agrees 😂
I think a lot of rules and laws are placed there not to really be enforced but to let people exercise some responsibility and not go too far and it serves as a guideline so even if they are breaking them, people will not feel stressed out but if someone start being an idiot about it at least the laws are there to charge them with it.

    • @ivangim1
      @ivangim1 2 роки тому

No 2nd-hand tobacco smoke is good to be inhaled, friend. I know exactly what you mean by "Those that are really public..."; amongst one of those is the processed beer outlets. Next time, just take note of the name of that outlet, indicate clearly the block nbr, got address better still then inform the Environment Ministry. They will swoop down on the establishment. Your info needs to be precise & accurate.

I used to pay for the wet wipes coz was not aware they can be excluded in the bill. Nowadays I don't pay mainly coz I don't need them. If bo bian, e.g. Kid finger or face very sticky and no wet wipe in my bag, then will use and pay for the wet wipe. 😂
