I mean when the best pianist, generalize because Elton has a great ability to play and sing at the same time. This for me is fantastic! In fact he is a living legend!
He has written 128 singles, 56 of which were top 40 hits. And that's not even counting the many songs he has written that were never released as singles.
Uno de los mejores conciertos que ha disfrutado Reg, por propias palabras !!! serà por el respaldo musical y la magia de sidney.. hermosa cancion dedicada a la esposa de Taupin!!! la humilde costurera!!
Etlon has many songs that I like but Tiny dancer, when he goes into the chorus, I find especially compelling. Don't know why, but I find it to be one of his best.
I'm sure it will. I got to see him live for the first time in Cleveland last may. I'm going again to the show in Buffalo on March 9th. The Face 2 Face show is really fantastic.
I loooooooove Elton John and this is my favourite song of his. DO NOT get me wrong i love this performance I just really loved the falsetto in his voice and this song IMO. Dont hate me cuz i still loved this performance and him. Elton John Foreva
Don't get me wrong, he is incredible. In my opinion he is the greatest songwriter/singer to ever live, but there are many piano players today (such as Jarrod Radnich) that have taken the art of playing the piano to another level.
This is actually the show that displayed his vocal problems for the first time. He used drugs so consistently for so many years that he developed polyps in his throat that he had to have them surgically removed. This is really the first show that showcased his "new" voice. He still performs like this today. His voice sounds better because of the surgery, but it's in definite contrast to his earlier work.
I was at this concert LOL. Was amazing. This was my favorite and left a lasting impression on me. In retrospect I wish he could have slowed it down a bit with more space and intimacy/melencholy that the song requires. And also go for the higher singing notes which he seems to avoid here.
@englishhorndude I've seen this Danza quote a lot with this song on YT, but you added a nice touch with that "Come on and sing it with me ..." lol Let's hope the great Elton John has a sense of humor.
it's not one of my favourites but it's one of Elton John songs I do at karaoke. it's a very complex melody and it's quite hard to sing because it has quite a range but it really suits my vocal style and you can get great musical emotion out of it
With all due respect, FANJG24, Elton is not a songwriter. But I do agree that he is the greatest artist to ever live. Music amazingly flows through his veins.
Well, I just meant that this was the show that really showcased how bad it had gotten. He said in an interview that his doctor asked him right away if he smoked a lot of a weed. He was under the assumption that the marijuana and the cocaine had caused the strain on his voice. But I certainly know what you mean. The drugs wouldn't do it alone. I don't believe he stopped using until 1990, a few years after he had the surgery.
Couldn’t disagree more. Billy is good, he’s funny and witty, but even in this Australian show elton is lying under the piano playing notes he can’t see… watch the Benny and the jets piano solo from Australia, this show and watch him play notes he can’t even see. I’ve never seen Billy play with an orchestra, or do a 2 man show or a solo show l sorry I’ve seen them both, Billy always seems the same ej is always reinventing himself
Hey Elton remember 33 years ago when Marina S sent you a poem called BLUE JEAN BABY HER TITLE ON CB AND SHE HAD THE WORDS DANCING IN THE SAND; THANKS FOR NOT ACKNOWLEDGING HER AND PAYING ZIPP ALL. She was 17 and sent you this poem. She was 17 and had a crush on you. Thanks for screwing someone around.
Wow !! You have even created a channel on the album. Outstanding !!
This is the album that really got me into Elton. I love his voice here....
Thankyou for uploading this video.
I mean when the best pianist, generalize because Elton has a great ability to play and sing at the same time. This for me is fantastic! In fact he is a living legend!
The singing comes after the piano playing has been done so often, it’s part of motor memory!
Wow! Amazing. This was a great look for Elton. And that orchestra! Quite possibly the best Tiny Dancer performance I've seen yet.
Eternal music, Elton best pianist in the world ... lyrics and beautiful music!
What a GREAT song!

Tiny Dancer is Elton's (himself) favourite song. So you have a good point there. ;)
YThe l.

A GIFT FROM GOD is ELTON JOHN. THANK YOU !
I forgot just how enjoyable his music is....
I love the bass on this track. So thick and juicy!
great version of this great song
Amazing version with the Orchestra behind him

The orchestra is kicking 🍑

He had developing nodules that affected his voice months before this concert.
its a great song...

I wish he did as well but he couldn't as he was having serious voice problems in 1986. He had polyps on his vocal chords and had surgery in 1987.
that would have been an amazing concert.
Perfection given the circumstances
It sounds better this way in this particular snapshot of time because of what he was going through. Good points@@jaggass!
nothing better!!!

who really cares man ...

Nice to meet a fellow Reg fan. He's performing at the Grammys tomorrow night with Lady Gaga. I don't know how I feel about that.
dairyfan123 hope you changed your view once you saw it, it was amazing.
TINY DANCER WAS NEVER RELASED AS A SINGLE, so I believe...Correct me if wrong but hootie hoot if i am right...
You are incorrect it was a single, it never reached the top 40 peaking at 41…no hootie hoots.
@Vespatim19 The version from 1971 on here is his best version of this song....he was at the height of his powers then, it is perfect, check it out.
@bishopaz Considering 33 years ago was 1977 and Tiny Dancer was released as a single in 1972, I doubt it.
@Jointheir777 Bernie Taupin wrote every word of that song
Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer
Count the helpers on the high notes. XD
Oh man, he's amazing live. Billy Joel is a better showman, but Elton's music is unbelievable.

This was Melbourne .... not Sydney ?
TheBassgoddess This was Sydney. With the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
@Jointheir777 i s this ,in fact,true?
Ummm, this is FAR from his best version ever. I would say that either Philadelphia 1984, Toronto 1980, or 1971 OGWT were the best live versions ever.
money...

Jointheir777 Nice story. This song was written prior to its release in 1972 which was 46 years ago. Nice try though.
“Pull me closer, Tony danza. I want to show me who’s the boss.”
So did you steal all your songs?
Jointheir777 elton john and his song writing partner are the original writers of this song. Anyone else you hear singing it is a cover.
@Biosants Maybe the best singer, but not even close to the best pianist.
