This is for people that want to rollback their bios but EZ Flash wont let them
Or people that just need a different way to flash their bios on their boards.
Example: you are on bios 1001 then you up date to bios 3401 but you decide you want to go back to 1001 because your system was more stable on 1001 but bios 3401 wont let you go back using the flash tools in the bios or windows.
This method uses a tool called AFUDOS.exe to flash your bios in Dos
First thing to consider make sure u have "American Megatrends Bios"
    - To check this in Windows 10 or 8.1 just right-click on the Start button and then choose Run.
    - In the Run window or search box, type the following exactly as shown: msinfo32 and push enter or ok
Your System info should pop up and you can see your Bios
2nd thing to consider - THIS IS EASY it may look hard or like alot of steps but its not
Now that you confirmed you have a "American Megatrends Bios" and that its not Brain surgery we can proceed
SOFTWARE and Files that you will need
DOWNLOAD LINK to the files needed:
    www.dropbox.co...
    drive.google.c...
    Files needed and in download
    - Rufus Format (aka HP USB Boot Utility)
    - AFUDOS.exe (this is software used to flash your bios)
    - The files I have included in the "Copy to USB" folder (this is in the download I provide)
    - UEFITool.exe (this is to convert your .CAP files to .ROM files)
    - And of course your Bios File (this you will need to get from your Motherboards support page this is not included)
    - CSM MUST BE ENABLED IN YOUR BIOS IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK
    - IF YOU HAVE IT DISABLED YOU CAN DISABLE IT AGAIN AFTER YOU FLASH YOUR BIOS
    - MAKE SURE YOUR .ROM FILE IS NAMED bios.rom OR IT WONT WORK
    - YOU CAN KEEP ON USING THIS USB STICK FOR YOUR MOTHERBOARD OVER AND OVER AGAIN AS LONG AS YOU NAME THE BIOS FILE bios.rom WHEN USING IT WITH THIS USB

When trying to apply the old bios (Asus prime x570p, 3001) it says "rom file size does not match existing file" or something like that. I am pretty sure the file is unzipped and extracted as body from uefi tool. :/

Had this problem for about a year and a half. Was so desperate that i even considered purchasing a new pc in order to be able to play games again (had constant blue screens and "heci disabled, proceeding with boot" error at start. I spent 200€ in a technician so that he could get it fixed (unsuccesfully). I didnt have any expectations at all, BUT THIS WORKED!!! Now i no longer have blue screens. Returned to a 2017 older bios version in my X556UJ ASUS laptop, and no more heci disabled error nor blue screens anymore. Also i changed some power settings (i suspect some in game crashing was due to overheating) and havent had any problems since then (GPU usage at energy saving mode, and CPU at 80%). Lowered like 15°C and still can play games properly!. Thanks so much to this video, and hope my comment is useful for someone too. Cheers! :D

Sadly it does not work with the Asus Rog Strix B450-F Gaming II when on latest Bios 4204.
I made progress until in the dos mode but when the utility tries to verify the bios.rom it says "3 - Error: ROM file size does not match existing bios size"
Maybe asus changed something about the size in the latest bios to prevent downgrading :-(

I did the exact same methods you did and it even read my usb flash reading. But after 100 percent it gives me an error.
"ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size" and then I normally restart my pc. I need to downgrade my bios. I recently bought a Ga35dx and installed 305 bios for it I want to downgrade to 301 which is not happening.
My motherboard light is not supported in their Armoury crate software which is so damn annoying. Which happened after the recommended bios 305 update. It's so frustrating to see a light not working. It does work only when I turn on my pc and switch it off.

If you're fiddling with BIOS options, unplugging the power cord and crossing the CLRTC jumpers (Clear RTC RAM) is your friend. Your systems aren't likely bricked my friends. Just touch a knife blade or screwdriver to those 2 jumpers. I do it all the time when I'm really messing with stuff like this. In fact, I had to do it to go from 2501 to 1201 with my X470-i.
It happens when there's deeper settings (usually memory timings) that need reset to defaults. You'll also need to do it with AMD systems when you change the CPU fan, or you'll get weird fan speeds, or have it randomly stop completely on you, unless you do it.

@@imightbeageek932 I have been following this video since 2018 and it works as always however like I mentioned above, newer bios update 3xxx doesn't let you downgrade and if you try you get a black screen. If you got any leads on how I can fix my motherboard, I would be highly appreciate it. Problem: Black Screen, a single beep, rig running normal but no display at all. I have tried plugging the HDMI from GPU to Motherboard as my CPU has integrated graphic but to no avail. Tried RAM method but still useless. Even CMOS method doesn't work. It seems that even recent users are facing the same issue.

Handy hint have a copy of the cap file on a separate usb formatted in fat32 (use BRenamerl to name it properly). In my case on reboot asus ezflash kicked in and insisted i finish the flash using the cap file. Also the usb that I used for the automatic flash from this video wouldn't be recognised during this ezflash so I had to format that usb on another computer to fat32 and put the cap file on it. Once I did that it was all fine. I was downgrading from 3805 to 1804 on a Z170-P After downgrading I was able to overclock my i5-6600k and memory to xmp again.

My battery has failed and of course the EZ Flash won't let me update the BIOS with less than 20% battery so I'm using this method to force things to update. Ran through it all and it acted like it was updating but when I reboot the computer the BIOS version is still the same. Any suggestions? Happy to donate some $$$ if I can get help updating the BIOS with the hope that it also allows the laptop to recognize and actually charge the new battery I bought for it. Otherwise I'll have a G701 that I might make someone a deal on. Haha!

      @-GameHacKeR- 3 роки тому

@@dardan1a915 Heya I think I know what happened with yours, You used the same older version of UEFITool you probably ignored the different errors messages you would've been getting with the older version of the software compared to what was shown in the video, I can confirm that I downgraded my b350 last night with the newer version of UEFITool A58
But yeah if anything here would brick the computer it'd be the conversion of .CAP to .ROM because that's what your flashing at the end of the day.
I used the newer version of UEFITool simply because the version provided was years older than my motherboard.
Here's my comment I left earlier about my experience
This worked great on my ASUS Prime B350 Plus to get Gen4 PCIe back for my 6800, I used the newest version of UEFItool which I got from there github page, Pretty sure the older version would've created a currupted rom based on the messages it was bringing up with the older version, I did also want to use a newer version of afudos but the autoexec.bat didn't work with the newer version of afudos or maybe that was because I pressed enter on the keyboard selection window that popped up actually, cause each key press is registered too many times.
One thing to note is if that autoexec.bat doesn't work you can't type anything in freedos because its running too fast on my 3900x and each single key press is registered 30-40times so there was no hope in typing the "afudos.exe bios.rom /GAN" command so you need the autoexec.bat to do it for you.
But I can confirm that with the UEFITool NE A58 (alpha 58) from Nov 7 2020 works for the .CAP files for my Asus Prime b350 plus and flashed perfectly twice in freedos with afudos 3.03(2012) from this video
I downgraded from bios 5602 to 5407 then decided to downgrade to the latest version before PCIe Gen4 removeal version 5204 and I can also say that my 6800 is working nicely in Gen4
Again use the latest version of UEFITool to convert to .rom don't want to be using a version of that software if it's YEARS older than your motherboard
Anyway though for my motherboard if you have it I used
      Rufus2.18p - same from video
Afudos 3.03(2012) - same from video
autoexec.bat - same from video I've added the text under this from the autoexec.bat if the files go down from the drop box you can copy the text within the " " into notepad and save that as autoexec.bat and make your own.
      "@echo off
      cls
      afudos.exe bios.rom /GAN"
UEFITool NE A58 (alpha 58) from Nov 7 2020 - Different from video, got from the devs github here github.com/LongSoft/UEFITool/releases/tag/A58
extract the head exactly the same as done in the video and that's it.
Hopefully this helps someone else looking to downgrade their prime b350 plus :)

I wouldn't recommend anyone do this unless they absolutely have to, NEED, not WANT. Asus will release an update that fixes your issue, eventually.
For me, it was a want. :) Asus updates on my X470-I board led it to no longer boot with XMP/DOCP settings, so I needed to rollback to 1201. That said, it worked for me, but I pay close attention to details, and have been doing this stuff since 1986.. and I'm a computer programmer myself. What I'd like to know is where you got the /GAN option information? It's not in the AFUDOS documentation.
