    i swear it’s always the best timing. i watched the Mk5 videos when i had my Mk5. you got the S3, and i got a ‘16 A3 at about the same time😂looking for coils now, and y’all post 9 days ago. so sick.

    This video was really helpful for my install, thanks!
    Figuring out how to finagle the front shocks in and out is a nightmare on the first pass…only way I could get the knuckle separated/back together was with an air hammer and a jack to add pressure underneath. Not ideal when the knuckle is aluminum but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when your sport suspension has 85k miles on it 😂

    Great job fellas very interesting to watch this install. I will say this is way beyond my skill level at this point. I was curious, how is the S3 running with your EQT stage 2? Any issues? Any other plans to get more power such as upgrading the turbo to a hybrid like Vortex XL? Ive seen some guys with stage 3/ vortex XL on their S3's with about 550 WHP running 10.7's in the quarter , and holding up fine after 10K miles. I have a almost new 18 S3 and I am looking to go the EQT route at some point. Thanks, keep these videos coming, very enjoyable to watch.

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  2 роки тому

      Appreciate that! And yes it’s definitely a harder job but doable! So far I’m very happy with how it’s running, no issues or anything. I’ve thought about putting the vortex in there but I’m not going to just yet. But exactly I’ve seen some really good numbers on them! Nice tho, I highly recommend EQT, I’ve ran apr on previous cars which was good but idk I just love how eqt is, they’re gonna be the next big company. We appreciate the support and we will have plenty of videos coming!

    Good work, just subbed. Did you only jack up one side at a time? Not sure about AWD, but when I've done coilover installs on RWD, I've found that if you don't have both sides on stands to put the front or rear end in the air, the tension from the sway-bar will make it almost impossible to remove the bolt holding the shock to the lower control arm. This suspension set-up is way different than what I'm used to (Lexus and Infiniti.) Just bought a S3 a few days ago, and new to this platform. Will keep checking your videos.

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  Рік тому +1

      Hey there thanks for watching and subbing! Yeah we did only one Side at a time in the air. It was a little more difficult without having both sides in the air because like you said the tension makes it a lot harder. It’s doable with just one side in the air but if you have the resources to put both sides up I’d suggest doing that. And congrats on the new purchase you’ll love it! And yes feel free to check out more of this car, we just went bigger turbo with it.

      @@RatchetWrenches yea man I've done one side at a time on a Q50, and the front took hours.. Had to get a punch and hammer the sway bar end-link out, which also acts as a lower shock mounting point. I'll keep watching for sure! I'ma try to do the water-pump myself soon. 🤞🏼

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  Рік тому +1

      @@JHSIGLER hahahah yeah I’ve been there before 🤣 and I just did my water pump like 2 months ago. Truly wasn’t that bad, only thing I’d suggest is instead of going by the book and taking the fan assembly out and leaving the intake manifold on and going from below. I’d highly suggest just taking the intake manifold off and go from above so much easier and more access. Less stuff to remove aswell. Also spend the extra couple bucks and get that small hose adapter that goes from the block to the water pump, mine was so worn out and it’s pretty common to be worn!

    • @JHSIGLER
      @JHSIGLER Рік тому

    What are specs measurements to adjust the struts height?

  • @angeloj.6460
    @angeloj.6460 2 роки тому +1

    Hey so I bought a 2015 S3 with these exact coilovers installed as soon as I got the car I slammed it and it's clunky at low speeds when i hit little bumps I feel like its coming from the front. (When I got it it wasn't making noises at the height it was) what could be the issue? Lowered it too much? I don't rub at all, and the wheels clear both left turns and right turns

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  2 роки тому +1

      Hey there honestly without being there and hearing it I can’t tell you for certain but it doesn’t have to do with the height. More like something is rubbing or loose. I’d check the top 3 mount bolts on the front coilovers, then check the sway bar links, maybe the bushings for the top hat are worn. Really can be a lot of things but without being there I can’t tel you for sure!

    looking at B16's for my A3 hatchback, it seems to be quite harsh over bumps as stock, do these fix that in a comfort mode setting?

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  2 роки тому

      These coilovers don’t have any relation with the comfort mode setting since they bypass DCC. But you can manually adjust each of the shocks by turning the dial on the bottom of them to make it either more stiff or less stiff!
