201. My Vanes for 2023 | DCA Custom Super Sabre 2.0

- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- I have messed around with quite a few vanes in the last few years and I finally found one that edged out the others. Kyle at DCA Custom loves what he does and has created a vane that not only looks unique but is amazingly quiet and steers fixed broadheads well. Tune in to hear why this will be my vane of this year 2023.

Mfjj is using those also this year.
The XV's and the Saber 2.0's for hunting.
Obviously the Halfouts also..
But ya, it a hard combo to beat for speed and longrange
Agreed!
Thanks man! I'd be happy to jump on next time. I'm a mechanical engineer and have worked in R&D and product development for over 20 years with about 30 patents to my name. I use a CFD program, a custom wind tunnel, LabRadar to study the air movement around the Super Sabres. I also used the same stability calculations NASA uses to find the stability of rockets to optimize the shape and increase stability. They are larger in the back to add a ton of stability. The leading geometry known as a double delta design is used on the F18 and pretty much all fighter jets after. The new material is freaking awesome, crazy tough, and adheres awesome.
These vanes definitely show the work and research you've put in.
My main critique of your 1.0's was the material. I'll be getting a pack of the new ones for sure.
The conversation is taking off about these new school stealth vanes for hunting. These are really helpful so thank you sir.
What’s the arrow specs? And what poundage on your bow?
80lbs bow and the arrow is about 454gr total
I think it's the extreme helical you have that made the parachute effect
Agreed
I’m a hunter and target shooter I’ve been using these vanes for a couple of years , the original Sabre flew good but had horrible memory, any pass through on my 3D targets would completely wreck the vanes even with a heat gun they’d never take there shape back, luckily the new version is awesome ! They’re tuff as nails, I’ve had many pass throughs on my targets and nothing effects there shape, the new version is a home run and very user friendly but I use AAE max bond and primer pen for all my fletchings
Love it!!! Thanks for sharing man
Biggest thing about the SS's is that they have all of the height in the back where it matters. For vanes, there are three shapes that dominate for stability: Blazer profile, AAE Max Hunter, and the SS's. Material is important for noise and drag, so stiffer will always have less drag.
Height doesn't have as much impact on drag as length does. For the same surface area, you want a taller and stiffer vane.
Heck yeah!!! I love the Super Sabres and the 2.0 definitely stick better and I like the material better as well. Kyle crushed it with these
Absolutely love my DCA custom arrows with the super Sabre’s. Never had straighter flying arrows!
Heck yeah! they are amazing and look great too.
Love the podcast just stumbled on it and am in same process as you. Just picked up RIP TKOs and was looking at the Sabre 2.0 curios on how the testing is going ? I have not shot any yet but got couple veins to try and using stock victory half out with a backweight to start with. Debating the MFJJ titanium half outs though.
My two favorite inserts are the MFJJ half out and the victory half out. The super Sabre 2.0 vanes fly great! I’ll be using them this year for sure
@@redbeard_outdoors ya I got to order those vanes !
Great Review Redbeard! I just purchased some Super Sabre 2.0 vanes and anxious to try them.
For what it’s worth the vanes are named after the Airforce F100 jet. An older jet. It’s also known as the Super Sabre or the F100 Super Sabre. The vanes are modeled after the tail wing of the jet.
This is a edit - I just got some loctite 401 in this Sunday morning in the mail (surprised) so I striped a couple older victory arrows just to test the fletching process for the super sabres. The 401 glue I received (made by Henkel in India didn’t work well. It was very runny. However I had some older Gold Tip Tip grip glue that was much thicker, like gel which says on bottle “new improved formula, Arrow adhesive, bonds in seconds. Now that worked great! I used a primer pen with both. Not sure that it was necessary but never used it before so wanted to try it. It didn’t seem helpful with the loctite however. I used one of the old Jo Jan jigs and clamps.
In short I don’t recommend the Henkel/loctite 401 adhesive.
Terry
Heck yeah! You’ll love them. Just recorded a podcast with the man himself, will be coming out in a few weeks 🙌🏻
@@redbeard_outdoors I can't wait to see your next podcast! I'm a sucker for innovation especially for innovation that works.
My v3x naturally clocks my arrows left. What made you go with the right helical instead of going left?
I notice a lot of factory fletched arrows also come with a slight right offset and am trying to figure out why that is.
Idk why they fletch right from the factory but when I clock my arrows they’ve been right for me so I fletch right
From what I understand the string determines spin direction. I may be wrong but depending on the direction the string was twisted determines the spin direction of arrow. Most bows currently are right from factory.
How are the new 2.0 shooting with the hard helical? I wanna try these but debating if I should just fletch then with that helical or get lesser 2 or 3 degree.
He recommends a lesser helical so if you can I’d go with that. They perform great with the steep helical but definitely better with the less helical when you get out 60 yards or more
@@redbeard_outdoors thanks for the reply! Have you shot them with broadheads yet also?
I couldn't get mine to stick with the ez fletch
I had to make sure my jig was clean before it would stick for me
I’d like to see your arrow building process.
Awesome I’ll get one of those videos out for sure. Thanks for the feedback 🙌🏻
I would like to see that arrow build.
Awesome I’ll make a video on my arrow build 🙌🏻
Great info.
AAE Impact insert glue is amazing.
Running the XV's , same half outs.
Love them for long range and deer.
Super super fast and accurate.
343 grains.. hahah
That’s awesome! And super light. Bet that flies out of your bow
Hard to find all the colors
Which one are you looking for?
@@redbeard_outdoors I only found the green orange and white on the major online stores
Yesterday I found another online store I think they are Called extreme outfitters and ordered the yellow ones but they only had one pack available
Run a 2 degree helical the vanes already spin great you don’t need that helical for these vanes
I definitely understand that and since this video I’ve done that 💪🏻
