- Incredible views departing Bristol in the classy Cessna 172 Skyhawk.
We depart Bristol to the North, climbing to 3,800ft, then track towards Monmouth, Great Malvern and Droitwich Spa en route to Wellesbourne Mountford.
The views were absolutely stunning over Bristol City Centre, The Severn and Welsh Valleys with fantastic visibility.
This is an excellent example of a well kept Cessna 172 based at Bristol International Airport with Bristol and Wessex Aeroplane Club.

Thank you. Believe it or not, but the GoPro is mounted inside the aircraft! I've just used my best effort to make it appear as though the window isn't there.

May I ask why you routed the way that you did?

Thank you! The winds were light and variable. Usually at Bristol that resorts to Runway 27 and on SkyDemon I had planned the standard departure from 27. However, we were given a 09 departure, so that meant routing over the city. A fortunate last minute change allowing me to capture those views over the harbour and Filton!

My view of routing from Bristol to Wellsbourne would be more like; Bristol, Stroud, Gloucester etc, then north from there (roughly speaking of course).🤔🤔🤔
Ah yes forgive me, you refer to the route over Monmouth etc. Owain wanted to go that way purely for the scenery 👌
