Suzuki GSX-R 750 SRAD Rebuild | Oil, Oil filter and Coolant Change!

  • In today's video I go through the oil and oil filter change on the GSX-R as well as swapping out the coolant for some delicious new stuff. I say delicious but I didn't taste it, please never drink coolant :D
    If you have an interest in the rebuild itself then stick around for the video, I know it's long but there's stuff in all of it :)
    I'll probably also release the coolant section as a standalone video as it's been requested! Pretty much all bikes are the exact same for changing the coolant. I did not do a flush as part of this, you can do that too and I would advise it if you see any rust!
    Please like the video if you liked it and also subscribe if you're new here :) An auld share would also be massively appreciated :)
    Thanks for watching :)

    Excellent informative video.. planning to do just this tomorrow on my recently purchased ‘98 750..
    The bike dealer said they changed the oil/filter & supplied an invoice to that effect on delivery, but... looking at the oil colour makes me think the most they did was top it up, and clean the old filter. 🙄 For my my peace of mind, I’ll do it myself 👍🏼

      @@TheGorillaBiker When you race, you are not allowed to run antifreeze. One of the ingredients is very slick like oil so if gets on the track it's dangerous. I can't recall if I put antifreeze back in it or if it still has distilled water. If I didn't I'm worried about rust. IDK. We shall see I guess. A ratio rite is that cup you used to pour the antifreeze in your coolant reservoir. There is a brand actually called "ratio rite" I use it mostly to measure premix when mixing gas for my 2-stroke motocross bike.

    Good thing that oil was ok given how you ran the engine with it. Did you consider running an oil flush? I've heard many conflicting opinions on the topic.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому +1

      I dipped it first and checked it don't worry 😂😂 Nope, I've went through mostly really old cars usually and a fella who's long since passed away always recommended doing it this way. Not that I wouldn't try an oil flush but this has always worked for me . Also even if that oil was rubbish in my opinion you're better off heating it a little before draining it as it'll get it out of all the galleries and such where it might have sludged up. The max I'd ran the bike for was 5 mins or so.
      Honestly I'd be more concerned about the coolant normally

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому

      I balanced them on the bench, without that they'd be rough alright. If you don't have a balancer just pull them back out and get 4 shims or coins of equal size. Jam open number 3 with the coin/shim and balance the rest off that. So just adjust with the screws until theyre all equally tight on your shim or whatever you've used. It's actually pretty easy to do and mine runs up through the full rev range smoothly after that :)

    Hi ya, sorry to ask and thank u for ur fantastic videos which have helped me a lot, however I just wondered do u have any tips for a bike that’s eating Petrol and running rich?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому

      Is it a carbed bike? It could honestly be anything, but if it's carbed it's no harm to give the carbs a good clean. Has it always been like that or did it change recently?

    • @tobias7574
      @tobias7574 3 роки тому

      @@TheGorillaBiker yep a carb with no injection , it had a new recon engine put in last year and has sat for that time hence me doing a service on it, but seems to be running rich still 🙄

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому +1

      @@tobias7574 First things I'd check then would be is the pilot air screw is set correctly, are the jets all the correct stock size, is the exhaust and air filter etc stock, and then I have heard of people accidentally putting in a injection fuel pump rather than a carbed bike fuel pump which forces too much fuel in to the bowls, you're float bowl needles could also be worn if they're not new and no longer stopping the flow of fuel. There isn't thaaat much to troubleshoot.....just kind of everything in the fuel system :D It'd be worth checking your sparks too if they're old.
