  • Another job off the list!! The GSX-R can smell it's own freedom now it's so close!! :D I know this isn't a full rebuild by any means but it does cover how to do fork seals and fork oil, which honestly for me is enough for now. I would like to fully upgrade the forks to something more modern at some point too so I didn't want to go too in depth for this one :)
    If you did find it helpful though please do let me know in the comments :)
    Thanks for watching!! :)

    Afternoon mate just watched the vid
    My zzr 1400 has a upside down fork are the components the same in most fork that are upside down the manual says I need to use the spring compressor but your way goes form the bottle and leaves the cartridge in place

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  9 місяців тому +1

      They're mostly the same, but some do need to be taken down differently, I was also only changing seals and oil. Some forks you won't be able to reassemble them without breaking them down further, not very helpful I know, sorry about that, I'd honestly follow your manual as best you can.

  • @MonkeyButtRides
    @MonkeyButtRides 3 роки тому +2

    I wouldn't have taken off the fairings either. Did you back out your clickers first? Vice does make it easier. Pretty much the same process for my motocross forks. Sometimes I put o-rings over the inner tube when I reassemble to measure the travel I'm using while on track. The plastic tip was brilliant. Nice video as usual.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому

      Yeah it's fine to take them out with the fairings on!! The lazy way :D I didn't, I should have done that. Oops. Vice makes it so so much easier. I remember doing upside downs years ago with no vice and it just took so much longer....It was also in a back garden tho so that didn't help. I have done the same but with Zip ties before :) Thanks :D Gracias amigo. You are too kind :)

    The service manual for my 600 with standard forks calls for 533ml. I'm guess the upside down forks are damn close to that. BTW, it should be range so you can tune the bottoming resistance.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому

      Oh that's a lot! The stock on the USD forks is 480ml, I used a tad more to adjust that resistance. I've always found it needs to be a lot stronger with me on the back of it :D

  • @stephencartwright5046
    @stephencartwright5046 3 роки тому +1

    Lets say 12cc lol. Good idea to tune them. You can always add or remove a few ccs with a sucker and see what difference it makes. Going to put a cable tie on the tube to judge the dive? Another solid video.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 роки тому +1

    • @SRR35669
      @SRR35669 Рік тому

      @@TheGorillaBiker level is good, i don’t think the oil pump is picking up oil, either that or a passage way is blocked. the pipe that goes to the oil filter was leaking, hopefully not a expensive fix. I did ride the bike for around 3 mins back home at the r the light turned on, do you think any damage was done?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Рік тому

      I couldn't say on damage man unfortunately, you'd have to strip it and look or drain the oil and check for metal at minimum. Otherwise if it sounded healthy it might just be the oil pressure sensor, I would guess that's all it is, plus if you had a leak you might have just had low pressure, hopefully it's all good.
