Inspector Wexford - Means of Evil

- I often copy what is written on the VHS cover but I'm not going to in this case as I feel it gives too much away.
Here is a very shortened version:
Inspector Wexford and Burden attend wholefood fanatic Alex Kingman's wedding.
Most of the world is on Lockdown at the moment, I hope this upload gives you a little joy as we have to stay at home. - Розваги
Although I wish it were under different circumstances, it sure is nice feeling to hear that all over the world we are one, experiencing something together, peacefully enjoying the same show and wishing each other well.
A very sweet "Hellolll" to you Dear. Sent with my best wishes from Austria.🤗
@@sinistersisterh-e4663 Thank you so much. Hello to you too over there in the land of such beautiful musjc, buildings and best pastrjes in the world! I have the music, I have the cookbooks and I hope to visit one day!

@@midsummernight2009 Hello to you too Canada, our smart beautiful neighbor to the north!
Thank you Mr. Goddard. These Wexford gems are a real pleasure to watch!
Can't compare to Midsomer
Yes, I agree with Judith Lungen above, the British have the best mysteries, even here in the states when sweet Angela Lansbury was brought over by her mom from England to the USA to act, I loved her Murder she wrote and movies she did previously, such a sad loss of Dame Angela Lansbury. I lived in England and that where I got my love for their mystery series, and some comedy as well...I was a 20 yr military wife. .I loved my time there, such lovely people. I hope I can find more mysteries like this...thank you for recording these..
I love those big old fashioned phones with the the big long pull out antenna
This was such a pleasure to see again after all these years. Always loved Wexford. Used to watch them with my parents back in the day, I was about 13 or 14 when this was new. TV was so much better in the late 80s and early 90s.
So this woman cooked and served a banquet, then played in the string trio? Wow.! Superwoman!
Ordered to stay in, so I was happy to add this to my list....Midsomer Murders, Vera and Rosemary &Thyme
Hi there. All the Misommer Murders I see are deleted.??? Where did you find good ones.? Sadly I've seen all the Rosemary and Thyme already 😂 they're a bit addictive 😎
try thriller series.
Do not forget Agatha Raisin, Ms. Marple and Peroit.
@@juliawitt3813 I joined Acorn TV. All of the mysteries are there.
@@euphrates556 Agatha Raisin is not available in Canada ....lately...Try Jeremy Brett ' Sherlock which is HD and available; Cheers from Toronto!
P.D. James, Ngaio Marsh, Margery Allingham or Agatha Christi, great mystery writers, and.... have really enjoyed Ruth Rendell books and these adaptation are marvelous...thank you Paul Goddard...these have been a blessing for these uncertain days.
I love Margery Allingham especially.
Ngaio Marsh is in my opinion vastly overrated. Unlike Ruth Rendall and Agatha Christie, she had no feeling fro human psychology. She wanted to be an actress not a writer and gave no evidence that she even enjoyed writing.
I haven’t heard of Margery allington. I’m going to look for it
Great again. Love these british series, Wexford and CO. One really has to follow from the begining and then its too late, we get hooked. I think Madame Burdon called Jenny is a very beautiful woman. Thanks alot with greetings from France around Paris.
I love this show I'm so sorry that he is gone what a fine looking gentleman he was...I love you all around the world blessings upon u all❤❤❤
Yeeaah! Another Wexford to watch. Brilliant, Paul. Huge thanks. These are such a treat. You just cannot beat a good old British detective series, and this is one of the best x
Thank you for providing comfort in our lives.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Thank you so much, take care all.
Thank you for a wonderful Inspector Wexford that couldn't have come at a better time!
🎉 May this New Year bring u all happiness and peace happy 2024❤🎉❤
One of the better episodes. So many great actors acting greatly and a superb plot. Bravo!

I wish American film makers would learn the art of the mystery, like the British film makers.
I agree! :-) well said!
It's called a 'lack of imagination'!
@@terrencelamb1693 Not sure about it being a lack of imagination. I always thought it was more to do with the fact that they have so many great authors and musicians and actors because they are stuck on an island just under the size of Alabama with not a lot to do and the weather is dreadful. Although it's the weather I think that for a creative person, damp, dreary, rainy days stirs the ions in the air and brings out the creativity for those who are so inclined lol. Here in the USA, we have too many distractions. I mean, imagine your entire world was just a few hundred square miles smaller than one of our 50 states. You can walk across England at it's narrowest point, in less than a day. My friend did it at Hadrians Wall. He says that with the rate of erosion at the seaside, soon everyone will only go along a narrow strip that runs north to south ha.
The only thing they know is a lot of noise and a lot of camera action and a lot of loud talking and and loud music and sirens and excitement and running around and heavy breathing
American mystery shows are full of garbage they leave nothing to the imagination
American mystery and crime shows are not worth even talking about because they're all trash
Vonda Hartsock-Oneil You didn’t even need to say you are American, the rest of the world new instantly by what you wrote. Can we travel the world safely. No, your country has made enemies of us all. Sad but true.
I’m enjoying this delighted you’ve posted these oh the Brits are the best at these murder mysteries Thank you ❤❤❤
Definitely
Thank you from Tim in lock down in south Spain
Mike showing the baby the pictures on the wall...love it!
Great cast, great stories and well filmed..Top Stuff!
Yes it's so sweet ... 'the horses had to work really hard' :-)
Thank you 🙏 for this great series ….It really helps to take my mind off what’s happening in the U.S.A., and around the world 🙏❤️🇺🇸🎄🎄🎄
Another brilliant episode filled with great actors 🙏
Brilliant! Thank you for another Wexford episode, Mr Goddard. Stay safe n healthy your end. Cheers from my wee corner of the globexxx
Christopher Ravenscroft is close to a Peter O'Toole double. And a fine actor, too!
What a superbly filmed and acted movie. Did not want to take a break from it.
From Seattle, we are entering our 3rd week of confinement and of social distancing. The best to all of you all over the world.
Micheline Seminet Hi from NY. I’ve been in for 2.5 months since Jan 15th. I’m an ICU RN & knew what was coming after I watched a CNN Special where China was welding apartment houses doors shut & people dying in the streets.I’m in a high risk group & use oxygen. It’d be a death sentence for me & many others.

Many thanks from San Francisco- stay healthy, stay safe everyone! !🙏🌁
Thank you. I’m English but live in Wales. Hello everyone!
Sad how many people are murdered under the banner of love.
God have mercey on us all. I do so enjoy watching these wicked people getting caught by these two great detectives. Their comradery is great too.
Thank you once again for sharing a great video.
God bless
*Fantastic ride!* 👍🤓
A new episode-hope there are more to come. Coronavirus Lockdown in Wyoming. Stay well!😷💞🌟
Confined in France thank you!!!!
Scamdemic more like.
Absolutely wonderful and such a good story line. Thank you
Ah, when vegetarianism was a suspicious alternative lifestyle. Thank you for another great Wexford episode. Stay safe everyone, from snowy Minnesota. 🌨️❄️
Hello from another Minnesotan hoping for a break from our hot Minnesota summer! 😀
Vegetarians are not therefore virtuous because they don't eat flesh. Look at Adolf Hitler. Vegan and devoted to herbal remedies
Occasional Vegetarianism is ok, but most certainly should not be a lifestyle…the vegetarian characters in this episode actually represented themselves as haughty, conceited, tight wads and uneducated. Very well written.. because these types do exist.
I have been a vegetarian for 50+ years. Times have definitely changed.
@@analisathirwell7071 No flesh and blood in my intestines, thanks.
Well constructed plot, very convincing acting, twists and turns, holds the attention rather than just the armchair..( as do some other series I could mention..)
Extraordinary plot - indicates the insidiousness way an innocent person can become a victim, sometimes starting as mere sneering and taunts, put downs, gossip as in character assisination and ultimately leading to stress, depression and death.
Suicide can be the goal of a whole family or group enjoying the pain of a scapegoat, and the feeling of power when their goal is attained. Watch out for insidiousness (it means the quality of gradually and secretly causing harm). Here Rendell points to this evil form of control of another...so clever.!!! The cast is impeccable - i am in awe of the ensemble of actors.

It sounds like you know my adoptive family 😅 That is the perfect summation of how i was treated after my adoptive dad died when i was 11. Yes, they started character assassination against a *child* in order to justify putting me out when the survivor benefits ended just before age 18.
**insidious, sorry
@@msmltvcktl I am so glad you survived - it is hard to thrive, thought. I hope you have and are living a comfortable life. After my similar experience I continue to struggle ... strange... maybe things will change.. I wish you all the goodness life can offer...
Enjoy these mysteries. My father was a special police , he taught me lots🤗
Living in county Wexford watching inspector Wexford enjoying every episode 😅😅
Thanks for the uploading
Under lockdown in Florida
thank you, lockdown is easier with great shows
Beautiful music intro (strings, horns and flutes). Thanx.
Boy they get straight into the mystery. The huge mystery of why she married him. I thought my marriage failed when it broke after 26 years but really, during the wedding reception ?! And then continuous arguing from that point forward. Shouldn't they have dated 7 minutes first to make sure they were "compatible" ?
Yes that relationship really is strange ... Apparently Axel was on the rebound, but why on earth did _she_ marry _him_ ?
I don't know about "evil" but the program is plain unpleasant between 15 minutes of car alarms and 30 minutes of shouting ... did the evil sound effects department run out of crying baby sound tracks ?
Oh I love Patrick Malahide. Thanks for the upload.
The groom is both a great detective & a top gangster. He basically can't make up his mind what he wants to be.
Thanks for the upload . In the supreme method of Agatha Christie, or at least close enough to( no one before or since has matched the great AC) , the perpetrator in the end is the least you would suspect or expect . This is my first watch and listen to one of these episodes. I hope all these Wexfords live up to this one or even just come close . Again thank you , cheers mate , btw I am a yank .
It’s nice to see something that doesn’t try to shove moral/political cant down our throats.
I can't imagine WHAT aeries (pl.) you might be referring.to! (sarcasm). There are several of course
Thank you, Paul, so appreciated.
Be well, you, and everyone here.

So excited to see a new episode here today. In government quarantine in South Africa, so I'm really looking forward to this. All your other uploads have been excellent quality. 🙏

A woman may smile and smile and play the violin and be a vegan, and still be a villain. You are not what you eat but as you think, how you feel or fail to feel but most of all what you do with your hand!
All Wexford’s are ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh joy, such a treat. Thank you.
Thank you very very much for uploading!🤗

Love the entiere scene... With him holding the wool for her and listening with full atention... A real couple for sure! When they disagree they still respect each other...
I always liked Malahide's work, but had never seenhim so young. Very good actor.

Thanks Paul, a couple of hours of bliss in this troubled world
Mr. Goddard, thank you for these videos. I am a big fan of British crime shows. I just came across Inspector Wexford while looking at Perry Mason movies. I usually binge watch these series and I'm getting my snacks ready now to watch some of these videos.
Again, Thank You for loading these videos.
Complicatedly good!
Thanks for this Paul !!! This is one I haven't seen. Although I've been watching alot of Wexford & Ruth Rendell Mysteries online the past year or so. I don't think any of these were ever on here in the states, at least not here in Ohio. During this time period nearly all British shows were on PBS, with only a few on A + E.
No, I don't think they were "PC" enough for PBS-WGBH Boston. Of course if the *harmakeuticals saw this they'd grab it in a nanosecond. UK Actor's Equity make sure your great actors get royalties from the sales to the USA. Those "Non profits" are making a fortune from the taxpayer funded BBC productions! Which would be useless without the great actors, and, once ore applause for the composers...the music is integral to the scripts and wonderful.
Thank you xxx
I always have enjoyed Det. Wexford. A nice would be detective.
Thank you Paul for the video. I know it will be great!
Thanks Buz. I hope you got my reply to you okay? No rush 🙂
Thank you Paul.😊
wonderful, twists and turns, very interesting.
AWESOME! JUST LOVE THESE MOVIES!THEY KEEP ME OUT OF TROUBLE TOO! LMAO 🤣 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR KEEPING ME COMPANY, TAKE CARE
Oh to unmask the idea we are diluted by. Burn that and our ego and awaken to become, see, our true self... I had a glimpse of pure undiluted happiness. Bliss. Harmony. Peace. The absolute.... About 15 mins of the true "I AM"
How tragic the outcome of supposed love can be! Was from the beginnning suspecting the spiteful young girl, especially since she was as infatuated.
Selfish motivations guide us all; to some extent....
Thanks for uploading :)
Merci beaucoup je suis une fan de Ruth Rendell
Thank you so much! I love the books and somehow I never saw this TV adaptation.
Great welcome Paul! Like personal cinema ;) love the story telling in a way, special way to enjoy, truly enjoy!

Absolutely 💯 % the best program 👏!
Thank you!!! 🌹
Really great series which i missed the first time around, thanks for posting. Shame they’re not available on DVD as well
Yes I agree! Why is this series not available on DVD or digital purchase! The owners are missing out on revenue.
Patrick Malahide played Inspector Alleyn, in the Ngaio Marsh series. and is a very convincing vegan activist in this.
It’s Susan from The Jewel in the Crown!
