    FYI modern cans have plastic liners, I would not recommend cooking canned goods in the can. Love the futon frame, way less wood and weight than most peoples set up.

    I used those same "action packers" storage totes for years in my van while traveling and camping. They are indestructible. Bought them in the 90s, still use them for storage.

    Way to improvise 👍
    I am going to implement some of these ideas on some mini road trips. I have a 2010 Toyota matrix and will be solo so I should be ok 🤞

    Nice video! Just a quick question: where do you store all the boxes (mainly food containers) when you camp in bear countries? Like in most campground in north california. Do you leave them on the top rack? Any troubles from the animals and the park rangers?

    • @debraderoos5225

      It does seem like a lot of stuff. Maybe two stuff bags each for their clothes and what else 4 pair of shoes each, jackets, food, cooking supplies and backpacks I took my two kids camping in the Everglades in a fastback VW. We had our camp stove, tent, sleeping bags, clothes. We had so much fun. Drove from PA, spent a week there. The whole cost with food, gas, etc. $350. That was in 1995.

    Like the setup!...Here in the UK I have a Jeep Cherokee (which is called a Jeep Liberty in the US), but mine does not have the lift-up hatchback door yours has at the back, mine has the split swing out door/lift up window back end...I would have preferred a hatchback but maybe that was only fitted on later models?...Mine is a 2005 2.8L CRD Sport. BTW, Thule is not pronounced Too-Lee...It is a Swedish company and the correct pronunciation is Th-Ool-Eh.

    We are planning a trip out west and I love this set up. We have a suburban and thinking about doing something like this to it. How hard was it to get into the national parks to camp? I was wondering if that was something we needed to do now or wait until we get there. We aren't 100% on where we will be each day. Any info would be greatly appreciated or if you have a video with that info I will watch.

      Doctor Bill love how you recreated your SUV, and LOVE how you set it up to be able to have storage underneath. Great set up. Cool awning. Can’t wait to check that out... Happy trails❤️

    if you install roof top tent, you can store all your stuff inside your car and lot more easier......

      heamin kwak trust me, while rooftop tents are sweet, being inside the vehicle is just a little more cozy! Don't have to worry about animals, strong winds and rain and I've found it stays quite a bit warmer in the cab than in tents

      Agreed. And quieter, and darker. And you can run the A/C if it gets too hot, or the heater if too cold.

    How’s the exped mat perform as you have to squeezed some parts in to make it fit the width?

    • @barrysoutthere
      @barrysoutthere  5 років тому

      Exped is the best ! No problems at all. Being able to adjust the air is what makes it work.
