It wasn't the cog that changed D-16, it was seeing Sentinels betrayal and learning that his whole like was a lie. Seeing all that can really mess you up, makes you vengeful.
Congrats on being the first person to react to Transformers One on UA-cam I went to go see this movie on the big screen, and my theatre was full of Transformers fans. I can guarantee that this is *THE BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE EVER!!!* Everyone in my theatre was on the edge of their seats in the 3rd Act and were clapping at the end of the movie, and Ive never seen people clap for a Transformers movie before! Everything from the stellar animation, music, fantastic fight scenes and choreography, the story, the character arcs and fantastic voice acting was just incredible. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry truly blew me away, mainly because they absolutely killed it as Optimus and Megatron and brought a level of humanity to the characters as you truly understand where both of them are coming from and how much they care for each other as friends as it genuinely breaks your heart watching them fall apart. Brian Tyree Henry especially brought such a level of complex tragedy and emotional pain as D-16/Megatron that Ive never seen before when it comes to the character since Megatron has never been portrayed as a sympathetic villain who was a product of a corrupt system before in media outside of the TF comics and I loved how you can see his thought process through his eyes and how he was genuinely happy being a miner and believed in the system, but after learning about the truth about Sentinel his entire world view shatters and his mental state slowly collapses more and more and the moment he was mocked and tortured by Sentinel D-16 finally has had enough and the moment he accidentally shots Orion we see I'm going through a complete emotional breakdown seeing his best friend almost dead but also perceiving it as a betrayal as D-16 has always had to cover Orion and save him for all his recklessness but he still chooses to take the bullet because he trying to save D-16 from making a terrible mistake but ultimately was too late and now only Megatron exists. Chris Hemsworth was also surprisingly excellent as Optimus Prime, and it really shocked me how much range he has as an actor/voice actor as he sounded like a young Peter Cullen. I especially love his arc of growing to understand his responsibilities and that scene where Orion inspires the miners to fight back against Sentinel was so empowering because it really shows what kind of person Orion is as I love the detail of Orion kneeling down at the miners' level because, unlike Sentinel, he was one of them and saw all of them as friends and family and inspiring all of them like a good father figure, which is everything Optimus Prime should be, a noble, hopeful leader whos never afraid to be gentle or compassionate to others. The movie is also surprisingly dark, as the trailers did not do this movie justice. There are genuinely a few mature and gruesome moments that shocked me and made me question whether this was a PG movie? It may have some moments of fun and levity for kids, which is funny, but when it needs to, it knows when to take itself seriously. It knows that the audience is smart enough to understand the Transformers franchise lore, which I appreciate. Im just disappointed with how poorly Paramount marketed this movie was as it truly deserved better promotion for such a great movie and yet the box office has many concerned that we might not even get a sequel, which I really hope this movie does get a trilogy of Transformers animated films because there is still so much potential to dive into the Civil War of Cybertron, the Quintessons, how Cybertron ultimately collapsed from the war and explore these characters on a deeper level.

D-16 is not only a product of Cybertron’s failed system and takes on Sentinel Prime’s oppression though violent means all the social injustices he had experiences forged his transcendence into Megatron and building up to a rivalry with Orion turned Optimus Prime (due to wanting the same goal of a unified Cybertron but have different viewpoints). But their friendship is doomed since the shocking realization Sentinel has sold out Cybertron to the Quintessons after betraying his fellow Prime brothers and sisters, and ruled his planet through oppression. This what makes D-16 a much more compelling hero-turned-villain and a tragic character in Transformers history.

That and the fact that D-16 is a selfish individual. I saw this film twice in the theater, and each time I always noticed how Orion constantly talked about "us," his community, whereas D-16 was always worrying about his personal place in everything. His desire for revenge and cementing his place in Cybertronian society pushes him into extremism.
it's a small detail as he's not even named, but Vector Prime is basically a dead-ringer for his original design back in Transformers Cybertron sans a recolor. also the Primus in the beginning is the same toy transformation as the Primus and earlier Unicron figures from the toylines of Cybertron and Armada respectfully. Orion's gag at the start was the steps of how to transform the original toy, with the hands folding in and the legs going together. The composer Bryan Tyler was the composer of the animated series Transformers Prime, and his motif for the Thirteen primes is used in the movie. There's a ton of details in this movie that show that this was a labor of extreme love across the entire mythos and its forty years of history, and it sucks that one terrible trailer torpedoed it all. if there's any justice to get us a sequel, here's hoping Peter Cullen is given the chance to voice Primus himself.

It might feel strange that Orion is the rebel of the two. But even tho Orion is very immature, and irresponsible, he still has every core personality trait that makes Optimus Prime recognizable. Even at the start of the film he was loyal, brave, was trying to defend others, and was willing to sacrifice himself. Because of his very strong sense of justice he realized that the cogless bots were treated unjustly, and on his own immature way was trying to break out of the mold they were put in by Sentinel. I love this movie too. If you liked this movie, check out Transformers Prime. TF One took a ton of lore elements from the continuity Transformers Prime takes place in (aligned continuity) Like Megatron's Orion's close friendship (and them fighting against Sentinel and his corrupt government together), Sentinel being a puppet ruler, Starscream's backstory etc
God I was left emotionally traumatized by this film. I expected to cry, but when Orion got shot, I was too much in shock to cry. That shot of Optimus landing gave me full body chills and it physically hurt to see Orion and D-16 fall apart. S tier 10/10 movie.
You should definitely watch Transformers Prime. It’s more mature than other Transformers cartoons, got top notch animation, voice acting and music. Many people have compared Transformers One to Transformers Prime in that regard.
There’s 3 Things I have to clarify, 1. I’m ok with the Quintessons not showing up, I’m aware how much of a Threat they are but the whole point of this Movie is how Optimus Prime and Megatron began the Formation of the Autobots and Decepticons, IF the Quintessons had appeared more often it would ruin the Film and we won’t get any Sentinel Screen Time, 2. Elita wasn’t the one that had the Idea of using Arachnid to Expose Sentinel, It was Orion who did a Quick Thinking when Arachnid said “I can see Everything” showing how Clever Pax is with his Sharp Edge and Mind, and 3. Bee was done good enough, I get that the Character didn’t evolve but Bee has done Well Enough, his presence is literally the Beginning to Pax and D16’s Journey to who they are destined to become as it was a Red Flag when they found out that there’s 50 Sub Levels instead of 40, his Creation Steve has the Map, and while I thought he was going to ruin the Movie with the Comic Relief I’m surprised there’s Layers of Humanity especially when Sentinel captures him and Dee and Dee stood up when Bee didn’t want him to stand up because he doesn’t want to see his Friends Hurt, like the Quintessons I’m pretty sure Bee will Develop especially when he losses his Voice in the War, anyway this Movie was amazing, not only is it one of the Best Movies of 2024, but it’s clearly the Best Transformers Movie of all Time, the Voice Casting was Great, the Story with the Evolution of Optimus Prime and Megatron is Interesting and Heartbreaking, Sentinel Prime is one of the Best Modern Villains in a Long Time that he’s definitely giving Homelander Vibes, and the Animation and Setup are Flawless, 10 out of 10, I’m hoping this gets a Trilogy because it deserves it and I would love to see more content from this and the Franchise.
The G1 show is good if you like 80s cheese. There is little to no plot progression and is mainly something I have playing in the background while doing chores. It is my favorite in terms of aesthetic and characterization of Optimus but it does have alot of flaws and plotholes. The characters are the stars of the show for sure and carry the show. Not something worth reacting to but definetly something I'd check out for yourself if you like 80s cheese. This however is my favorite origin of Optimus and Megatron and is the BEST transformers movie by far. Even if Nastolgia has the 86 movie as my favorite.

Transformers One takes most of the best parts of various Transformers lore and combines it into a beautiful whole. Things like Primus which started from the Marvel Comics but evolved due to shows like Transformers Energon or Transformers Cybertron. Taking various aspects of the Orion Pax origin of Optimus like being fatally wounded by Megatron akin to G1 or IDW... There is a lot of references
The trailers and promotions realy didn't do this movie any favour, dare I say one of the best movies this year yet, goes beyond just being about robots is space and is deffinetly more than meets the eye.
Definitely watch the original cartoon series! The 86 movie that you watched is set between the second and third seasons of the show. The first two is primarily on Earth but quite a few episodes feature Cybertron and other planets. The movie is 20 years after the end of season two. The third season is right after the events of the movie, then there is the short fourth season which is a three part episode called the Rebirth but unfortunately that was when Transformers was starting to fade. In each season, they bring in characters that were a year ahead of when they get released in toyline, for example the Dinobots and the Constructicons were in the 1985 product line but were brought in the first season in 1984. This is what happens for the most of the show. There are a few not so good episodes that being The Core, City of Steel, Carnage in C Minor. Just so you know, there a lot of animation errors, this is due to them trying to get the show out for syndication, pretty much creating an episode took about a month to complete. Its not as serious as the movie but there a good moments.
Just because some one is nice to you and you share its an giggles with them make them your friend and you some how know them. Some companionship is out of convenience and not out of love. The greatest deceivers Fool the gullible.
Best transformers movie in ages. Sadly people judged the first trailer it so sucks. Don't always judge the book by it's cover. Hope people see this to make the movie pop.

My theatre had 4 other people in it but the movie had me crying in the intro scene because of how much nostalgia I got
