    Great reaction it’s a really good movie. Yeah it is a little bit like the first one but but like the first one was the first emotion so the first emotion and anxiety took over and they got bottled up emotions so they had to take the same route to go back to the control panel, this imaginary friend from last he could’ve been Helpful instead, of a Dora the Explorer wannabe although good emotion the French one was on we if it’s a third one we see nostalgia a lot more. I don’t how far they’ll go with that because Touchstone pictures didn’t his adult studio is not around anymore so they can’t go into adult emotions too much. If you know what I mean not nothing will be a Disney film, I think it’s so funny that pouchy, which is somebody that anger couldn’t stand is now, buddy buddy with anger he has dynamite, though joy with the primary emotion in the first one went on your little basic emotions like joy and run your life from the most part, but as you grow it gets complicated but the emotions are still the best ones you can’t bottle any of them up that’s always trouble. Thanks for the fun until next time.

    When you've done TOS, I would suggest you take a look at 'Star Trek Continues' which is a short fan-made series homaging the original. But, unlike many fan videos of low quality, this is by light years, the best ever made by professional actors/FX people. Its won multiple awards and Trek luminaries like Marin Sirtis, Micheal Dorn have been involved and also the sons of James Doohan & Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry. Their mission was simple, to 'finish off' TOS following its cancellation. They faithfully recreated the original sets/costumes etc and even got Trek people doing the SFX. Its online, do check it out, a true labour of love for TOS.

    Nichelle Nichols says she was in a car accident on her way to the studio for her first day of filming of this episode in her new role as Lt. Uhura and had to get stitches on her leg. Gene Roddenberry really wanted her to play Uhura and if she couldnt get to the set on time they would have to recast her part and she might not get a chance to ever paly the role. So, he had the doctors sew her up as quickly as possible, give her a bunch of pain medication and they whisked her off to hair and makeup. They had her sit in her chair with her bandage away from camera. This is why she looks sleepy and very sweaty in some scenes in this episode. The first day of filming she almost didnt make it.

    17:57: "Definitely I'm feeling a pilot episode ..." Will, you are one perceptive critic. You picked up on the unusual care and attention to detail in filming this episode -- the cinematography, lighting, blocking, even the lavish use of extras (you will never again see so many crewmen pacing the corridors. This was the first episode shot in regular production (as others have already noted) and so a terrific amount of effort went into getting it just right. Having already watched eight episodes that were filmed later, you instantly noticed how unusual that opening shot was. We see the Enterprise in space, then close in on the top of the saucer where the bridge is, and then move into the bridge with that high camera angle. This was to show viewers where the bridge was physically located in the ship -- a way of establishing its layout in what was intended to be the first episode screened. You didn't know this, but you put it together just by watching the evidence of the episode. Bravo.

    The scene where the Reliant and Enterprise meet for the first time is a masterclass in tension & movie scoring. Both ships have there themes dueling together. The shots get closer in and the music builds as they cut back and forth. I really don't think they could improve on this cut.

    This episode was the second episode filmed after for no man has gone before. The first 15 episodes of the series was aired out of order. That is why this number two episode is not in the number two spot. The network thought science fiction fans only wanted to see horror films. That's why the first episode aired was The Man Trap.

    1. I mostly like the episodes that take place in space so this one fits that bill. It's in my top five of the series. 2. Rule #1: Never complain about getting a very HOT Yeoman Rand/Grace Lee Whitney.😍😝😈 3. I liked it mostly because of Clint Howard (Ron Howard's brother) who also played "Leon" the sandwich kid in "The Andy Griffith Show". A deep dive for Clint was an old black and white tv series "Gentle Ben". 4. As a retired US Navy sailor, although I'm aware of what they're doing, while at General Quarters why are people walking around in the hallways when they're supposed to be at their duty stations, AND they're not wearing seatbelts on the bridge

Yup. 3. I remember Gentle Ben but did not watch it. Didn't know it featured Clint. 4. Maybe their duty station is to be in the hallway to show us what the ship is going thru. And seatbelts hadn't been invented yet, obviously.

Before ST, there was My Favorite Martian, a sitcom where a Martian was stranded on earth and lived with a friendly human who gave him cover as "Uncle Martin". One of the episodes had him doing dentistry on himself with telekinesis. Both actors became stars, the Martian being played by Ray Walston who among other characters was the teacher in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and the human was played by Bill Bixby who was Bruce Banner in the first Incredible Hulk TV incarnation. This series was always trying to use the cinema arts: lighting, color, motion, special effects, staging (actor positioning and movement), sound, music, etc. The music through all three seasons of the series is some of the best television music ever. The outstanding dialogue and character development are the product of some of the best sci-fi writers of the day. Enjoy.

    Addressing your question at 0:56 Spock is in command of the bridge, but not the captain. When Kirk is absent from the bridge, someone else must be in command of the bridge in his absence. Kirk usually designates who that person will be prior to leaving. If not, then command follows in order from the highest ranking officer available to lower ranks. As first officer, Spock has the highest rank below Captain Kirk. Next in line if Spock is not available is Scotty. If Scotty is not available, then Sulu is next in line. Uhuru is next in line after Sulu. Availability includes for reasons of sleep schedules, meals, staff rotations, medical reasons, and other duties taking precedence.

  • @luminiferous1960
    @luminiferous1960 2 дні тому

    Addressing your question at 0:52 based on information from Memory Alpha, in 2266, Lieutenant Uhura was a command division staff officer aboard the USS Enterprise. She was the department head of the communications section. (TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver", "Mudd's Women"). Gold is the color of command division uniforms. Later that year, Uhura permanently transferred to the engineering and support services division, after which she wore the red uniform of engineering and support services division. In the novel "The Fire and the Rose," set shortly after "Mudd's Women", Uhura went to Captain Kirk and requested to be reassigned from the command division to the engineering and services division. Kirk was not happy with this decision and grilled her about throwing away her command abilities and leadership potential, however, despite his disappointment, he approved her transfer, thus explaining the change in her uniform's color.

    Uhura is in yellow because this is the first episode filmed after the 2nd pilot (Where No Man Has Gone Before). The only other time she's seen in yellow is the episode filmed after this one (Mudd's Women). It was probably because they wanted a permanent bridge member in a red uniform for the color or because Nichelle said, "Damn, Grace looks so good in that red dress I want one too!"

    • @exhistoriascientia
      @exhistoriascientia 2 дні тому

      There's another possible reason that Uhura switched from gold to red. It relates to a story Nichelle Nichols told at the 2011 Star Trek convention in Chicago. She said that after she got cast she was extremely happy but later that day she got a call from her agent. He asked if she was sitting down and when she said she wasn't, he asked her to do so. "The studio bought out your contract," he said. She asked what this meant and he told her it meant she wouldn't appear on the show. She asked why they'd do that and he said, "You know why." NBC was constantly opposed to female officers on the bridge much less a black woman who was fifth in command of the ship (after Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and Sulu). Her agent then said, "Gene [Roddenberry] says don't worry" and instructed her to show up for work on Monday. Throughout the weekend she'd call her agent worried about things and he always repeated Roddenberry's message. Come Monday, she showed up for work and no one said a thing as she was ushered to costuming and makeup like any other production. Everything was as normal that day and every day to follow. It wasn't until later that year that Nichelle realized what was going on. Roddenberry was signing her on as a featured guest actress. Not only did this mean she was paid more, it also meant that she was paid for every appearance on screen. The network could cut her lines or entire scenes but they couldn't disguise the fact that every time the camera was on Kirk, there was the red of Uhura's elbow just behind Kirk. In the course of the season, Roddenberry kept Uhura on the bridge and took the network for thousands more than if they'd just let Nichelle's original contract stand. When season 2 was set to begin, NBC offered Nichelle Nichols a standard contract.

    Great reaction no it’s not one of the pilots, but it is close to the pilot one of the first episodes cause the dialogue wasn’t set and the story of the show wasn’t set because you know it Kirk calls it the United earth ship into the United Federation of planets of planets because that title hadn’t been confirmed yet, but it is for planets and United earth is one of the members of the Federation George Tek who plays Sulu I was in Tora as an extra or something or the movies or something. That’s why he wasn’t there at first I think and when I say that I mean with most of the cast being hired because I think George decay off on a job because they’re all working actors before they remember, I think he was doing like a finishing World War II epic one of the films he was at his job. That’s why he was pushing the button and doing everything for the young kid very good Kirk because most officer captains would’ve dismissed him from duty and actually might’ve thrown off the ship transferred them back to Starfleet Academy for retraining, the actor who played Bella is Ron Howard, younger brother Clint he will be back in Star Trek several times. He’s a good luck charm for the show and almost every version of Star Trek or the other. I know she had an extra TNG episode for a while. I hope you haven’t stopped watching those if you decide to finish this first we’re going back to TNG if that’s the case OK but I hope to see your reaction to Star Trek next generation episodes because they’re really good and you’re really good doing them. The Cage was the original pilot. The Menagerie was mid season 1 and used footage from that unaired pilot. Didn't air until after TNG was on.

      @@wrorchestra1 The first pilot was originally titled THE CAGE in development. and preproduction but the title was changed to THE MENAGERIE just prior to the start of shooting (Source: THE MAKING OF STAR TREK by Stephen E. Witfield and Gene Roddenberry) and the title was recycled for the two-part episode. Fans use the original title to differentiate the pilot from the episode but they did have the same title.

    A little fun fact about this movie in the scene where there’s a guy complaining to the hotel manager, he is the late Bill Paxson‘s son and during the rodeo scene when Tyler and Kate are sitting down and watching the rodeo there’s a couple sitting right behind them that is Glenn Powell‘s parents That makes a cameo in the movie
