I didn't read Lazarus Planet as an event. I haven't been following Batman vs Robin, so I was just excited to read the one shots as just one shots.
I'm interested in the Spirit World series, and I loved catching up with the Doom Patrol.
As an event, though, this is not an event. This is not how events should be.
I haven't read an event since Dark Knights Metal(Which was really only my second event) really wore on me, and every event since has just proven that that was a fine decision on my part

I found it overwhelming trying to keep up with this “event”. Starts to feel like work.
Man I tried to get into this event and I just noped so hard.
So DC ripped off a horrible Marvel event (the Terrigan Cloud) and made it worse.
I absolutely loved this event and the ending when Damien got all the citizens of Gotham to believe in batman and give apart of themselves to save batman I thought it was amazing
Lazarus planet as a event was so disappointing and really went nowhere and felt like a waste of time especially with the all the tie-ins which were all garbage in my opinion.
Hey I know I’m a little late to the video but I want to read Lazarus planet to understand what’s going in in Dawn of DC. Should I read it or not bother?
Comics needs another Jim Shooter type to come in, crack the whip and tell some of these creatives to go out there and make some god damn money or hit the road. Creativity flourishes with restriction and accountability, believe it or not.
I totally thought of Bloodlines when I was reading Lazarus Planet, though an inferior iteration because LP just changed existing heroes rather than introducing new heroes who were bitten by the aliens in Bloodlines.
I recently moved to the US, so I reckoned I should try to get into monthly comics. I was always reading tpbs and stuff, so I thought it would be interesting to try this monthly shit out. I am so confused rn with DC. Probably should've skipped and ignored this event and just bought the fresh number 1s. But I've bought Alpha thinking I could get into it, but I had no idea what was going on. Now I have to buy all issues of Batman vs Robin, and even then I don't know if it'll make any sense.

Dark crisis fucked everything up imo i was hyped during Infinite Frontier but basically dropped off by the time of dark crisis and beyond i think DC should be looking at Justice Leauge Unlimited and more so Young Justice for inspiration on holding a forward narrative

I think problem is that directly after Death Metal, we got Dark Crisis which had an identity crisis and renamed itself Dark Crisis on Infinite Earth's which both promised us things that didn't do anything then Lazarus Planet happened which again promised big changes. For a event fatigued we were with marvel, at least things changed. We still saw civil war tension between CAP and Tony during fucking SW

Does anyone think these "events" and things, as well as other signs are a growing trend as these companies become less and less focused on making "art" and more on being a business/making money first?
My thinking was this would flood the world with new metas. A cool event on its own and in the long run tie into the Amanda Waller “kill all metas” story they’re building up to. But… yeah. Although I enjoyed most of the anthology stories, overall it just didn’t feel like a cohesive mega story.
It is the movies.
The current problem is, Marvel has no clue on what to do, many books are pretty good, but aside of the X-Trinity (Gillen, Ewing and Spurrier), nothing feels in the same universe, no events matter anymore, since Secret Wars, basically no writer is trying to move the universe foward, now every Marvel main writer is basically competing to create the biggest thing ever.
DC has writers trying to move the universe forward, Joshua Williamson has been trying to do this since 2020, and he's been doing his best, the problem is, it feels like editorial is trying to stop him from shaping the universe, they are calling him the architect of the Dawn of DC, but at the same time, they don't want to give him the power to do it.
Engagement and interaction with creator to please the mathemagics that choses what gets seen or not.
Only event im looking forward to is Supermassive 2 and Radiant Blacks CATALYST WAR from the Massive-Verse.

I kinda appreciate that it wasn’t a giant event. That being said, I think it could’ve been even smaller what I’m saying is that it should’ve been an arc, not an event to begin with. Like Benny said.
I mean, that was Mark Waid's original plan. It was supposed to be just an arc in Batman vs. Robin.

Both marvel and dc need a punch in the heart to get things a pumping, I hope dawn of dc keeps the blood flowing with knight terrors and god help marvel Atleast on Spider-Man side(it sucks balls), maybe the return of the ultimate universe will soothe some of my worries

I’m so sick of the Alpha and Omega issue crap at Marvel and Dc it’s so dumb. Just number a damn series like normal so I’m not confused as to which issues I need to read! Dark Web and Lazarus Planet are the best examples of this stupid trend needing to end.
