The corruption on the Pakistani side (that decided the deal in favour of the French/Agosta-90B instead of four ex-RN Upholders that were favoured) was on the part of the Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her Finance Minister/husband Asif Ali Zardari. They were the ones receiving the kickbacks on the Pakistani side. This is well-documented. When the Chirac halted the kickbacks, Zardari was out for revenge, and the French engineers paid the price for that. (Curiously the French never seized his French chateau in revenge though, so they clearly tried to hush all this up as far as responsibility).
Turkey has had nothing to do with installing the Babur SLCM on the Agosta-90B. That part of the upgrade is solely Pakistan's doing. It was developed before Turkey won the upgrade deal for which the French (half-heartedly) also competed. The two additional MESMA AIP units have been in Pakistan for some time. So Khalid and Saad will be upgraded with the AIP module if not already.

Bévéziers is the French name of Beachy Head, off the coast of South England, where one of the biggest naval battle of the age of the sailing navy took place in 1690. There, the French royal fleet, lead by admiral Anne Hillarion de Costentin de Tourville, better known under his short name Tourville, defeated an allied English and Dutch fleet. Actually, each of the four French Agosta SSK in named after a significant naval battle. By the way, the name of the fourth submarine is Ouessant, not Quessant.

Fun fact: In the early 90's, at the Spanish Navy's Officers Club in Cartagena (home base of the Spanish Navy's submarines which were equipped with a locally built AGOSTA type of boats), they had a poster of the USS NIMITZ in the periscope crosshairs. BTW...stop reading from Wikipedia, all 4 of the Spanish Navy's Agusta subs are OUT OF COMMISSION.

You did not get it right, Balladur was Prime Minister and opposing the other right wing candidate Jacques Chirac (then Mayor of Paris). As Prime minister he was in charge of government and was going to run for president against Chirac. Chirac won and had a great way to give a taste of his own medicine to his former rival. This was possible because the centre left socialist party of late president Mitterrand (the cancer ridden president at the time of the sale to Pakistan) was in a succession dispute. This has been one of the worst cases of occult financing of political campaigns in France (well until Sarkozy got bought over by Khadafi).

The Royal Navy also used the Excocet (MM38 variant) on some of it's County Class Destroyers, Type 21 Frigates, and the Type 22 Frigates. The Royal Navy used them from before the Falklands War up until 2002. A surprising omission from the list of users/operators!
SS Atlantic Conveyor, a merchant ship (one part of Cunard's contribution to the consortium of Atlantic Container Line) and a STUFT (Ship Taken Up From Trade), was hit and destroyed (sinking a few days later) by two Exocet missiles during the Falklands War, on Argentina's National Day (25th May). Her Captain (Ian North) and several others (both civilian and military) died. This was the same day HMS Coventry was bombed and sunk by 1000lb bombs we had originally supplied to Argentina.

They where very good for Intel mission.

La Praya serve at the end of her life as a platform for pump jet experimentation.
The sonar Dsuv 22 has good détection capacity but the audio is to "metallic".

It's Closed-Loop because the oxygen is coming from the bottled oxygen, and not from atmospheric oxygen. You could (and often do) have a gas recirculation loop in atmospheric internal combustion engines, that takes the combustion gasses and puts them back into the combustion chamber at a certain percentage which ensures that combustion is as complete as possible, but you can't just keep running *that* part in a closed loop, because you'd use up the oxygen and fuel and build up exhaust that would eventually be impossible to combust, and it does show in the diagram that it's still discharging (presumably overboard) CO2 and water after passing through the heat exchanger.

By the way, there was also huge commission and murdering behind the French-Malaysia Scorpene submarine deal in 2000s. Altantuya Sharriibbu, a model , was murdered by the guards of Deputy prime minister and Defense minister Mohd Najib and her body was destroyed by C4 dynamite. the mistress of a middleman Razak Baginda, one ex-Malaysia defense advisor who involved in the Scorpene submarine deal, and Mohd Najib was also involved.

The French-Taiwan Lafayette frigates sales in early 1990s was also interesting, involving major scandals, high commissions and cost of lives, one colonel of Taiwan (ROC) Navy was murdered in 1993, at least half of dozen Frenches involved died for some reasons. The first time the scandal revealed was in 1996 due to a lawsuit between Thomson co. and a middleman about the commission in the Taiwan frigate deal, then the investigation started . It also led to the largest international arbitration lawsuit between Taiwan and French in 2000s.
