🪷🌦️ tokyo | monchhichi, milky peko, sanrio + HAUL!☕️🌸

On our last day in this part of Takayama, John and I woke up extra early (in part due to insomnia) and headed out while everyone else was sleeping. Because the festival was over, the town was abandoned- all the yatai and tourist crowds were nowhere to be found. The red bridge we had trouble crossing because of the crowds was completely empty! It was a rainy morning, but so cozy! We had no plan, but that made it all the more memorable~ We had fresh milk and onigiri for breakfast and found temples to visit. There was one temple where one fish in a koi pond kept jumping out of the water - it was definitely a sight to see lol! Locals kept telling us how lucky we were to make it during sakura season because once the rain falls, the cherry blossoms fall too (they’re only around for 2 weeks). I guess it really was divine timing that we arrived in Japan right when they bloomed and left right when they were saying bye! Seeing the cherry blossoms fall and get swept away by the wind was so magical - like I was in an anime or kdrama 🫶 We also stopped by a UCC coffee shop that was far from a chain - it was a quirky old shop with an elderly woman running the whole place. It was another heartwarming experience because even though she didn’t speak English, she was able to make us feel welcomed and at home with her cooking 🥰 And of course I had to end the day with a last minute shopping trip (my one and only vice) lol. I stumbled upon 2 retro shops and picked up a few things - I included a little haul at the end of this video! (don’t worry about my arm, I had a hard fall standing on the reformer 🥲)
