That was a fantastic trip down memory lane. I lived in Ibaraki, Osaka for 2.5 years and went to Expo City about twice a month. I lived about two blocks from JR Ibaraki station and they have a dedicated bus for the mall. I had to watch the video twice because my son saw me watching it and made me start it over. Now we're both homesick for Osaka. lol He just celebrated his 14th birthday and said this was like getting a late birthday gift from Japan (my kids were born and raised in Kansai and have dual citizenship). Their grandfather worked for Nankai so we used to go to Namba Parks a lot, but they both said Expo City is their favorite mall in Japan after we moved to Ibaraki. We're going to try to make it back to Japan for a visit next year (we live in the US now) and both keep reminding me they want to go back to Expo City at least once while we're there. Thank you for the great video. Both of you are awesome!
I thought this video was really trippy, then realized I'd turned the speed down to half while watching a Japanese movie. To catch all the subtitles. Thank you for this upload. 🌸
Hooray! Good to see you both again. Calbi+ has the best fresh Hokaido Butter chips. I think the KFC potatoes in the United States are made from dried potato flakes and that is what gives them their distinctive taste.
That mask and the game place look amazing! We have nothing like that here in the US, but if we did, I know my husband would take me and our kids (even though they’re adults now) 😊 Sometimes all you need to feel young is to find a fun activity and that looks like it would be perfect!
Kids' candy stores were known as "penny candy" or 5 and dime stores. Thanks for sharing this. I haven't seen so many retro stores in 1 location in a while. I miss the arcades from my childhood; they're rare here nowadays.
A meerkat, known to be highly social, all alone in a small cage is heartbreaking. People who want exotic animals as pets are utterly selfish and never consider the animals before themselves.
Both the mall and the other arcade you went to were very nice. I would want to get that giant Totoro from that Ghibli store. He is my favorite Ghibli character.
In some places here in America, traditional pet stores are illegal. In those places, you can only adopt pets that came from shelters. You can not buy a pet that came from a breeder or puppy/kitten mill. The stance is to adopt and never buy a pet.
Dear Mrs. Eats, Can you please tell me where the omamori available at shinto shrines are made? Who makes them and where are they manufactured? I'm very curious to know if the shinto priests make them themselves or if they're made elsewhere, either in Japan or another country. If the omamori are not made by shinto priests, does the manufacturer have to follow certain shinto rituals when making them, or do they hire a shinto priest for the manufacturing process? Big thanks for all the amazing content over the years.
I just realized that I haven’t seen a video from you in a while. Typical, UA-cam’s notifications aren’t working properly….again 😢 Thanks for sharing! Good to see you….now I’m going to go catch up on your videos. 😅✌🏻🥰😊
Jesus. AS much as I love Japanese malls and the unique kinds of shops, I can't stand pet stores that don't deal in rescues, and especially not those dealing in exotic animals. I practically danced when the local pet store closed where I live in Japan, but there are still one or two left!
It's October 2024 and i'm now having this idea...........You should do a VS. Video Collaboration with the "Ohio Final Boss" with your Kancho University Dean character. I think that would be legendary.
I'm surprised they have such exotic pets at a pet store in Japan. I think the most exotic thing I've seen be sold at a store in America were certain shark species. Currently I live in Poland and I think the most exotic sort of pet that I've seen is a scorpion just going off the top of my head.
Hi, i wanted to ask if you know if schools for foreigners also exist in more rural areas. I feel like "tourist hotspots" will not be a good environment to learn about the culture and people, aswell as the language. Surrounding yourselfs with people that might understand english or your native language kinda gives you an easy way to dodge speaking/learning japanese, while being forced to try it might be the best way to learn it since you somehow have to try to communicate. I also heard that a lot of schools are pretty much a "foreigner-cashgrab" and you don't really learn much - especially when the classes are filled and not everyone has the chance to do any practice. Also would it be possible to work "for the commune" with that type of visa? I'd like to give something back while studying and maybe do supportive work regarding a city/towns infrastruktural things, maybe gardening work or cleaning
Meerkats do better in a group settings and are not pets. They have to be with other meerkats. Meerkats behave a lot like ants with a central queen if they don’t have the structure they go nuts. It’s why they aren’t suitable pets.
@@jacobgonzalez2002 Japan sadly has almost no regard for animal welfare - there is a lot of cruelty happening. Don’t look into it if it’s a sensitive topic for you as it’s quite upsetting.
Please don't buy meerkats as pets. They are both diggers and social creatures, so keeping a single meerkat that can't dig or be around other meerkats is just cruel. In the U.S. they are considered exotic animals and in most states they are illegal.
@@missplainjane3905 Their nature is to spend time with other meerkats and to dig long tunnels. Unless you have a lot of meerkats and a lot of soil suitable for digging, they will get upset.
Modern arcade alleys are a lot more fun than the ones in the US. I visited the US a few times and I went to a few and they're only arcades but with better graphics..they're not fun and not interactive.

It's not. LaLaport is an Outlet Mall with several stores. There is a grocery store on the first floor along with some other places.
Those index and thumb gloves are actually pretty clever
That meerkat all alone in that cage was utterly heartbreaking and put a negative spin on the rest of the video. 💔

Okay, the kids snack store, Calbee and the games center look sooo cool!! I'd completely get out of my home if there was this mall in my country 😍
The faces on the beer for kids packaging is hilarious.
That beer mug guy is up to no good.
Super fun video!! Wish we had an arcade store like that here. Also, that CRUNCHY bite into the chicken made my mouth water! 😂

The mall in Shiogama is pretty frickin big too! It's two full malls connected by a bridge.
