  • This bag is my new favorite to take with me. Its just the right size, and being a sling, it doesn't get in the way while fishing. There are the right amount of compartments and they work perfectly for just about anything you want to put in there. It keeps you organized, and able to find anything you need in an instant while out on the water. Its also very comfortable to wear, and kinda hugs you while its on.
    There is one thing that bugs me though, and that is how to use the net holder. I cannot figure out how to easily keep a net with this pack. Maybe I am doing it wrong, but it just doesn't seem like there is anywhere to properly put the net.
    So if you like this bag, and want to pick one up. You can buy it here. amzn.to/2FT0rJy

    I love this pack and sliding under left arm is the way to go. I also have a lanyard hooked on the net ring at the handle so I can use the sling net holder pouch. By far the best pack I’ve used.

    Great review! I appreciate your good humor responding to so many piling on about swinging it over your shoulder. Permission for us all to laugh, because we have all done that sort of thing. First use, started a habit, and then can’t figure out why it’s not quite working out when in auto-pilot. 😂 I’m checking out reviews specifically to get a sense of how well the net holder works. I have a different sling pack that I really like (I prefer sling packs over other options), but it does not have a net holster. It has a D-Ring/magnet attachment option, but I don’t like how the net swings and doesn’t lay flat over the top of the bag in back. I want something with the net tighter to the body that ALSO works with a sling pack, so it has to be integrated in the back like this is. I have heard other feedback that smaller nets do not hold well in the holster. Maybe they have been swinging it over their shoulders too! 😂 Seriously, have you ever tried with a smaller net? (22-24” total length). If so, did it stay in okay? Also, does it feel uncomfortable wedged between the pack and your back? Thanks.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  4 місяці тому

      So I still use this pack to this day and it’s built solid. No issues many years of hard use later. As for the smaller nets, ya you need the magnetic clip or something, but for a long handle net it works great!

    It may be just me, but swinging a sling pack from underneath my left arm instead of over my right shoulder has been far smoother. I too have had issues with having to maneuver around having a net somewhere so I mostly don’t fish with a sling pack anymore.

      I have the same pack and love it. Swing it under your left arm😃. I also use the D ringto hang my net from when I use shorter net otherwise my long handle net goes into the net sleeve with a long bungee and magnetic attachment clipped to the same D ring. I also use the side attachment points with snap straps to secure my raincoat as needed.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  6 років тому

      Thank you for the info Daniel. Yeah I love it also! Its a great pack, and once I get the hang of using the net attachment, then I am sure there will be no issues.

    Def try swinging pack under your left arm a lot smoother. I also use a magnetic tether for net and use D ring on back of pack to attach part of magnet. No problem with sliding net under arm an net getting hung up

    So for me, I attached the net with a magnet release to the back top potion. It holds the net securely/taught against in the bag so it does not move and if I just used it I can let it hang while I finish releasing the fish. Fishpond has one it recommends: FishPond Confluence Net Release.
    Great video!

      Yes, I figured it all out now, wish I waited to do the review till after 2-3 trips... haha! I took it on one trip and then missed a ton of stuff. I still use this bag today, about 1.5 years later. Great bag!

    The nipper location is exactly where I put mine. Because it doesn't make to much sense to put it on the strap especially if you have the bag already flipped to the front and thats where you will mostly be tying flies and cutting tag ends.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  5 років тому

      Yes exactly, and I put the forceps on the strap because that’s where I’m releasing fish. Lol! After some tweaks of arrangement, this bag is really easy to use and almost perfecg

  • @ef2967
    @ef2967 Рік тому

    If you look closely the pack does have a place to attach a small net with a magnet or the way you are doing it, and it isn't a problem having the net in the pack when you swing it around, as long as you swing it the right way :D

  • @overlander4831
    @overlander4831 2 роки тому

    I use the net holder while traveling and while fishing I use a magnetic lanyard that ties into the top hanger and then clips onto the pack strap bottom so I can swing the pack around and be usable in both configures. Best pack I ever bought everything is where I need it and it isn't to bulky.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 роки тому

      I love this sling yeah. And if you swing it under your arm then it is easier.

  • @hugor.4625

    I just use a net magnet attached to the plastic ring on the top end of the pack and to the handle end of my net. I use a smaller net, but works fine. Love everything else about the pack.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  6 років тому

      Yeah, see my net is too big for that... I need to get a smaller net I guess for that kinda thing. But I went out fishing today with my big net, and swinging the pack under my shoulder rather than up and over makes it much easier! I think I figured it out! :) Thank you to all of you who suggested for me. :)

    • @tyanez
      @tyanez 5 років тому

      Yeah, I do that too (the d-ring with the magnet). I put mine on the bottom part of the pack so that when I swing it to the front of me, the net is below the pockets and zippers. It works fine when wading, but when you're walking out of the water the net kind of flops around a lot. It's not a perfect system, but since I like the sling pack I'll stick with it.

    I have one of these and it is 100% the best piece of gear I have bought to go bombing around the flats for bones. Keeps everything high up if the tide gets high and I can keep plenty of water on me. By far better than a hip pack for me

    I think sling packs are a good idea because I like the front of my body as free and clear as possible but I do not want a strap connected to a pack draped over my casting shoulder for hours on end. Being a right handed caster I prefer the the strap be over my left shoulder. I’ll wait until somebody makes one.

    • @McFlyAngler

      Vedavoo Beast Sling--they make them to go over either shoulder; you specify which one you want when you order it. Also Umpquaa's Ambi-Sling; the strap on that one converts from one side to the other.

      Adam Rietz Just got home from a 10 day trip to the San Juan and Rio rivers. Spoke to a couple of fishermen who were using sling packs and both agreed that the sling packs didn’t have enough room to carry everything they wanted to carry. Just passing on the info, you may want to check it out before purchase.

  • @slickydicky
    @slickydicky 3 роки тому

    Literally the only reason I'm considering this pack is because of the water bottle holder. I have their San Juan chest pack, sage brush vest, and switchback belt. I strongly prefer the vest but hate that I can't carry a water bottle. I have one those carries with a shoulder strap but that is awkward as heck with the vest. I have a smaller carrier that has molle I can put around the side adjustment straps and it works OK. But it throws the vest off balance. Sure I can use a camelbak but that doesn't work well when I take my net, which is 100% of the time now. My only reservation is that I would be dropping 100 bucks on this (I really don't need another fishing pack) only because of its ability to carry water.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  3 роки тому

      Well it’s a great pack, I still use it to this day (almost 4 years later) and love it. However you could look into getting a camel pack for under your vest?

    • @slickydicky
      @slickydicky 3 роки тому

      @@McFlyAngler yea I read that somewhere about 10 minutes after I posted that comment. I'm not a big fan of bladders but I suppose I can use a smaller pack like that put a water bottle or grayl in it. The only down side would be having to take the vest off to get to it, but usually when it's break time I take my vest off for a few minutes anyways. Thanks for the fast responses though!

    I have this bag - been using for 2 years - love it - very durable for such light weight. I use a magnet system for my net and it works great with this sling pack.
    No real problems with this one for me - zips work great so far. I don’t need the extra skinny strap to secure it - just slows me down - but would be great if I was doing some bushwacking to keep it tight to my back.

    I carry such a small amount of gear I fit everything in a super small chest pack that was 20 dollars.from cabelas. Odds are you need to take 1 or 2 small fly boxes 1 or 2 tippets, a few leaders, floatant some forceps maybe some splitshot. What honestly requires such a huge bag? I guess if you need yo pack around a camera that's a.little different. But I could honestly fit everything I take with me in my pants pickets if it wasn't so uncomfortable. Sometimes I think people just want to show off their gear collection.

      Yep, 2 years ago I was rushing to try and get content up. I didn’t have time to do the types of videos I wanted to do. Things have changed since and I’ve put up more extensive reviews since. Thanks

      👍. I’ve used it now almost 2 years. It’s a great pack! I’d recommend buying it. I do have over 500 videos so, maybe you will find others you like better

      Click that link, thats to my eBay. I have 5 types, all are the same waterproof type box, but have different types of inserts and sizes. I also have some flies there for sale as well, so just search through to find the box you want.

      I recommend a Tylenol, hopefully that takes the pain away. Advil could help as well. Haha!
