      Nice! I hear good things, but I've never heard one. I gotta try one side by side with a Telefunken!

    Said U87 like it was dirt or something LOL I'm here like "Yes! Finally got an 87"

      Haha nah! I love my vintage 87! I actually travel with it when I'm not in LA. It doesn't have the tube high end saturation that these other mics have though.

      I was hurt hearing that too!…lol bought my 87 when I was still working my day job with overtime money climbing utility poles in Michigan winters. What’s even more important is the song, vocal performance and energy of the track. I mean really not many of us home recording guys can afford a telefunken elm251 or c800.$10k for a mic..sh….Ed! No I could by 3 or 4 high end pre amps for that price. Also if you have to do a lot of post work on a voice after recording on a U 87 them maybe there is an issue elsewhere. But having one could pull more clients I am sure… doordash clown here I come …lol

      I mean, that's a DAMN good mic. I have a Telefunken USA 251 and I sold my C800G because it brought out sibilance in my voice that I didn't like. I could have fixed it with processing but why bother when I could just use a mic that I didn't have to do that with? The good thing about the u87 is that you can mold it a LOT more than you can a lot of other mics.

      I mean diffrent mic have diffrent use no one uses 800 in rock or folk music, country music most of them use u47 or m49 because creaminess and so on. U47 used in every music. Iot of modern producer try to get vintage elam 251 aswell.

    To be honest, C800G has that modern sound, where you can hear emotional highs without the dirt. It’s like an isolated high frequency content is coming through the instrumental. HOWEVER, my Klaus Heyne U87 is the best and most emptionally engaging mic I have ever heard. I might drop a snippet of the latest track I did with it.

    • @livewithmattradclips3164
      @livewithmattradclips3164  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah that's a great way to put it about the C800. It cuts immediately through a certain kind of modern instrumental. You can achieve that with a 251 or 67 or 47 with a little eq, but the c800 has it baked in nicely.
      And I feel you on the u87. I have two vintage 87s, one of them serviced by David Bock, and I LOVE it for vocals. Also great on a million other things

      @@realtalkroscoegHave you owned any of these mics or do you just think you know what you're talking about because you've listened to shootouts online? I'm going to go with the second option for 200 Alex.
      Edit: Wen to your channel and looks like you're fanboying over the 67 because it's your "dream mic". See a more recent one of a clone of a 251. That's wild to me that a guy that got a clone of a Tele 251 is acting as if he has first hand knowledge of a Tele 251 or a Sony for that matter. Anyone reading this and want an unbiased opinion of these mics and their uses, go to Gearspace and read through the threads there because the people fanboying over stuff get called out with the quickness on there.

    Matt whats good my brotha! Does this include the new Elam 251 e or are we talking vintage 251?

    • @livewithmattradclips3164
      @livewithmattradclips3164  3 роки тому +4

      I believe Teezio's is a new 251e. I've used two new ones at different times and they sound VERY good and hold up beautifully against the few great vintage ones I've used (though I did not listen side by side). I'm told there are some factory mod's that can be done that make a new one closer to a great vintage one (see my conversations with Matt Beckley, who uses a new but modded 251). But an unmodded new ones sounds VERY similar to me. That being said, people get very opinionated about this haha
      The only caveat for the vintage ones is that they are fragile and prone to damage (especially the CK12 capsule) after 60 years of use. I don't currently own one, but when I buy one, it will probably be a new one.

    I've owned a Sony C800G in 2016 for a year and half, liked it but did not work on everyone- my 251 is much better and works on just about any great voice.

      Would u say its versatile enough to use it as the only mic for different male rap/trap vocals? Got a U87Ai right now and I‘m missing the clearness and moderness that a c800g or ela m 251 gives. So I‘m thinking of getting the beesneez bn251
