2015 Durango No A/C - Clutch engagement issue and fix

- Not a diy. Video shows a few steps that lead me to the problem for this vehicles AC clutch not engaging.
Fix for this was bypassing the PDC (fuse box) for just the AC relay. Replacing the PDC would have also fixed the issue but at a much higher cost. May do a video on adding a relay to bypass the PDC in the future.
If you replace the PDC it does not need to be programmed.
Assuming the system is full and the pressure switches are good, if shooting power to the ac clutch fuse makes it work - then chances are your PDC is bad. Be sure to properly diagnose the vehicle.
I posted a second video to explain bypassing the internal Pdc relay. It’s not a diy but with basic mechanical knowledge it can be done.
Literally have this exact same problem with a 2014 Durango…did you do the DIY video for it? I’ve tried resetting the PDM by leaving the battery unhooked overnight even but to no avail. Literally everything works except the PDM telling the clutch to engage
@@dollyhadbraces4345 I have a slightly more informed video on my channel. You have to know how to wire a basic relay in, but it tells you which wires under the PDC to use for the bypass.
@@Starwind_and_Hawking I found it…taking it to the mechanic this week after sending him that video. He said he could do it
@@dollyhadbraces4345 awesome, let me know how it goes
Do a tipm replacement on this year if possible??
This year has a PDC, it does not have a TIPM. Replacing the PDC requires no programming
Where are you at mister? I need my Durango service
@@EscobarMT I’m in west GA
@@Starwind_and_Hawking yes me too!!! Powder springs to be exact is there a way I can contact you?
@@EscobarMT email me and we can exchange numbers logitech0216@gmail.com
Good video, but my 2017 Durango compressor works and my blower motor works. No cold air...bought the self charge kit and meter read full on refrigerate...I'm stuck.
Blend doors not operating properly, compressor clutch may work but it might be shot and not able to move refrigerant, you could have a blockage on the high side, etc. you need a gauge set hooked up to see what’s really going on.
@Starwind_and_Hawking I replaced the blend doors, I'll look into the compressor..how about the pressure switches?
If your compressor clutch is engaging then you need to see high and low side pressures with a set of gauges. Pressure switches should be fine if they are letting your clutch engage. Plenty of UA-cam videos on what your pressures should be with a working compressor.
@@Starwind_and_Hawking Appreciate it! I'll check it out.
I have the same issue I would like to see a diy relay video.
This vehicle comes back for oil changes regularly. I will try to make a quick video of how it’s wired. If you can get a wiring diagram for your specific year then your just taking the wires that go into the box and running them to a regular external relay instead.
If you get power to the 62 10amp fuse does that mean the relay is good?
I have power to fuse 62, but still no clutch. Engagement.
Thanks for the video btw
Did you make the video of the external relay
Disregard sorry. Just found break in wire. Thanks
Where was your break ?
@@danielwiggins2036 how did you find a brake in the wire?
