I fully agree. While I am ALL for the progress in the way women are viewed and am grateful for the women with the strength, determination and courage to finally stand up for ALL women and demand that we be treated with as much respect, faith and support as men are; FINALLY, taking back our God given right to no longer have to settle for a life where those around you decide FOR YOU. We finally get a say in our own lives. We most definitely have much more to work to do, but slow progress is better than no progress. But while it easy to assume that men are not in the same position, it couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, they get paid more (statistically, but not all employers are that ignorant). And yes, they get away with behavior, temperament, and actions that women get judged and condemned for (again this is not all men, just generally speaking). HOWEVER, when it comes to the more psychological and emotional aspects, men are judged, ridiculed, and disrespected buy others. If a man is the victim of DOMESTIC abuse, if a man is a victim of SE×UAL abuse. If a man dares to physically disply any form of emotional hardships or if a man dares to shead a tear.... they are made to feel like they are less like a man. They're ridiculed, judged, and ultimately brushed off. If we as a society where more aware of abused men, this poor man would have been less likely to be disregarded and blown off and he may possibly still be alive today and this story could have ended very different. We need to fight just as much for men living and experiencing threats or abuse of any kind, as we do for women. Equality will never happen if the only changes made benefit only one side. Equality is having the same rights, expectations, opportunities, and respect as those around us regardless of gender. We need to fight to stop the stigma that comes when a man reports any form of abuse and support them instead of judging the victim, embarrassing the victim and further traumatizing the victim. Expressing emotion does not make a weak man.

Charles Vallow had a million dollar life policy at the time of his death, and Lori had been the beneficiary of his policy for years.
*THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE STORY* but I didn’t hear it mentioned?
Lori was mega MEGA mad when she found out that she was NOT going to inherit the $1 million, because he recently changed the beneficiary to KAY!
Because he was suspicious of Lori! The pool party she had the SAME DAY IN THE SAME HOUSE Alex killed Charles in cold blood, was HELD to “celebrate” becoming a millionaire spiritual leader!

That can be interpreted in many ways, financially, socially, no mention of physical harm was said. I'm not arguing on her behalf, I'm simply saying that's how the law works and usually if someone says that to another they aren't actually referring to taking their life. Still, definitely a red flag!

    • @Tindometari
      @Tindometari Рік тому +3

A death threat has to be specific about physical violence. "I will destroy you" is too vague to be actionable, because it might equally mean 'I will sue you into bankruptcy' or 'I will tell the world about (some shameful thing you've been up to)'.
Seems Lori was clever enough to stay outside that line.

As you sleep in a hotel in poverty the rest of your life driving a 2002 Corolla because i also stole all the new vehicles. Female American dream 😂 I hope one day for divorce/child support reform, in this discriminatory and sexist industry. The police never accepted the brother's words, and he was always suspected of murder. When they interviewed the brother's wife, she talked about the cops hounding him and him realizing that he was about to get the murder pinned on him. He died quickly before they had the chance to collect enough evidence and charge him. So I don't think the police ever bought his story. They just didn't have enough evidence to challenge his self defense claim and couldn't arrest him until the DA was ready. I'm sure it complicated things to know that the only witnesses were in the wind and that they couldn't go to trial without further testimony from Lori and Tylee.

@@bs5740 Joseph Ryan, Tylee's father, her third husband. He died the year before (2018) and many suspect Lori and/or Alex as responsible. It was suspicious enough that they reopened the investigation after the children were found; however, since Lori had them cremate him as soon as he was found, they only had past medical records to go on. Unfortunately, she was the only contact person they could find on any of his records. He had died several days before he was found; they put his death as natural, heart failure. She had put him through living hell trying to keep Tylee from seeing him even though he had visitation rights, had him in court repeatedly saying horrible things about him. She had also been recorded in a conversation with a group saying her bible said it was okay to murder someone if they offended you. Her first and second husbands must feel very lucky they got away from her and are still alive! Colby's father was her second husband.
I seriously doubt any of us know someone who has had two husbands, two children, and a brother die within two years unless it was all in the same horrible auto/plane accident! Death doesn't just follow this woman - she drags it with her.
When Joe died, she got his life insurance and then monthly S.S. benefits for Tylee. It might look like that whetted her appetite for easy money then Charles was murdered for his $1M life insurance (and S.S. benefits for J.J.). When she learned she was not getting that $1M, Tammy suddenly died after Chad increased her life insurance. I've no seen it disclosed if Alex had life insurance or not when he died and, of so, who was beneficiary.
Because of J.J.'s disability (autism) and Tylee's benefits, she was getting $6K a month in S.S. benefits for the children. It seems highly likely she will spend time in prison for collecting benefits after their deaths if she should someone manage to avoid prison for their murders. From what I have read on their pages, S.S. fraud is not a jury trial but carries automatic prison sentences, and she clearly was not spending their benefits on them after they were murdered and buried but still collecting them. I somehow doubt she can convince them that J.J. was with Kay and Tylee was at college as she told others!

The trouble is that under the law, it's not a threat unless there's a specific statement of intended retribution that would be unlawful to carry through (typically, physical violence). Threatening to use your spiritual powers to 'destroy' someone -- 'destroy' being a very vague term that can include things like suing someone into bankruptcy -- is not a legally actionable threat.

No, being LDS, it’s pretty uncommon to see divorces in the church, let alone multiple divorces like that woman experienced. Our church discourages divorce except for certain circumstances such as abuse etc. honestly her action before being involved in murder isn’t a typical member of our church.
What it sounds like in my opinion was she was fed some mixture of doctrine from our church and distorted false doctrine and it destroyed her. We don’t believe in reincarnation like that Women believed. I honestly don’t really think she should be considered a member of our church even before she was involved with murder…

Honestly, aren’t most extremist, fundamentalist religious denominations & sects perfect breeding grounds for narcissism & delusions of grandiosity plus magical thinking (“‘God’ loves me and not X bc I am devout, special, chosen, etc.”)? Some of the worst child abusers and truly horrible (extremely selfish & self-righteous) people I’ve met or known about bc they severely abused my friends were religious fundamentalists.
People who think in Dark Ages terms should be avoided by those who value rationality (including that at the basis of the sciences) and secular humanism. Cult-like religionists’ thinking is not only creepy & bizarre but utterly backwards and is not compatible with any modern society.

As a retired LAPD Officer.....I have mixed feelings about the way the Officer handled it. While it was cringe and very hard to watch........ I also know that there are countless possible variables that we may not be aware of.
How many calls to that address have the police dealt with? Cops are human and can miss clues that in hindsight may have saved lives. Domestic issues are not cut and dry absent physical harm. Threats of death are not always actionable and laws typically require not just words but that the suspect have the ability to carry the threat out.
The cop was rude and seemed very disinterested and condescending. But let us not forget that hindsight is 2020

There's a few things I'm grateful for about this whole terrifying situation. The kids bodies were found and layed to rest by loved ones. That everyone sees through both perpetrators. That Lori is getting the mental help needed so she WILL face a jury of her peers. And that the perpetrators will also have to face the people that their (alleged) crimes/murders affected.
Everything the two (allegedly) did honestly makes me sick to my stomach. And I hope the others locked up with them show them each exactly how unkindly they take to people who kill (allegedly) children.

As Nettie said, the children's bodies are still in custody though the family has had memorial services for both of them. The family surely understands the necessity of it under the circumstances of this case though it adds even more pain for them.

Lori is the poster child for cold and calculating.
I watched the interviews with her after Charles was killed.
The day Alex shot Charles, she had grabbed Charles' phone like a teenager acting stupid and refused to give it back to him.
They argued because Charles wanted his phone back and she kept it away from him, snatching it out of his reach and moving away.
If Lori never took Charles' phone he would have left immediately and there would have been no altercation.
Alex is not innocent, they twisted the facts after he had shot Charles because the only person who knew the truth is dead.
Lori only left to take JJ to school after the shooting had already occured, she left Alex to deal with it and removed herself from the scene.
Killing your own children is a whole 'nother level of callous.
May Lori and Chad rot in jail for all the lives they have destroyed.
