13:07 the Big Five are actually the lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and the African Cape buffalo! From my understanding, based on my time living in Zimbabwe, they are referred to as the big five because of hunters. These animals were usually prized by hunters and so successfully killing one was quite a feat. However, there's a catch. These are also among the most difficult animals to hunt in Africa which is part of why they were so prized.
You are my favourite ASMR channel by FAR. I hope to one day I can talk to you about maps/the geography of the world 1 on 1. Keep doing what ur doing welsh, I love you❤️
I only got 20 right, so you did really well! I really loved this, reminds me of the kinds of Geography trivia my dad used to do with my sister and I when we were kids. New to the channel but your voice is literally perfect for ASMR..!!😴😴
Well the big 5 were more like the biggest trophies u could hunt in africa, consisting out of its most dangerous game. Those are the elephant, the rhinocerus, the african buffalo, the lion and (im not sure about this one, but guess it was) the leopard. Im not sure why animals like hippos and crocs were excluded from this list, but i guess on these safari hunting trips u werent really threatened by these animals that wouldnt attack u aslong as u didnt enter there wet territory. And hippos normally wont leave the water until its dark.
Leopards are actually incredible hunters and will often go unnoticed even if you're looking right at one. Incredibly strong, lethal, and stealthy. Basically batman of the jungle. But they are super hard to find which I'm sure is why they are on the list. Crocs, despite being incredibly dangers as you mentioned, won't normally attack you unless you're unfortunate enough to be in their waters. But they also aren't too hard to hunt if you catch them out of water. Hippos, known as one of the deadliest animals in Africa will kill you in an instant if you end up in their territory and have even been known to capsize decently sized boats. But not much to get from killing a hippo unlike the horns/pelts/skin/ivory of the others.
@@missingtooth9558 Well tbh u just made me laugh with last sentence, because it just reminded me of the one Simpsons episode when Homer was watching a spot in tv about a new barbeque or smoker and in they said: "u can even grill a hippo on it" and Homer was like "Mhm a Hippo"
@@WelshASMR82Maps Yeah i didnt like it eighter. Still it came from another time. In the late 19th and early 20th century nobody could really make out the scope of how drasticly we humans could influence our planets wildlife, especially in sparselly inhabitat africa were animals seemed to spawn from everywhere. Wildlife was so abundend back than, that the hunt, which had very long history in europe, would also develope in a similiar way in africa. I mean we hunted and still hunt foxes for no obvious reason (here germany, idk whether its the same in britain) then population control and as trophies. Atleast we debate nowadays about whether its good or not and im not deep enough in the thematic to say whether its right or not to shoot these animals. I can just say that i find it useless to kill for a trophy and support wildlife conservation. As one of my favourite author, big game hunter and later nature conservationist Jim Corbett once said (i cant find the quote) its better to pull the trigger of camera than a riffle. While getting a trophy u will quickly realise that it will lose its beauty while the photo or film will stay beautiful.

I was points ahead of you😎 until i lost by three points... Great video tho! I think I personally like it more when we get the answer straight away, I wanna be awake to know if I was right, but then i fall asleep :( You are one of few people whose videos send me to sleep even when I'm curioud about something, so again, great video !! (this got posted on another asmrtists video some fricking how?? AND THEY LIKED IT so i know they saw, it, this comment makes no sense except for very specific videos like this, not an asmr video woth a fidget toy)
I also got 25/30, but some answers were different. I would have gotten 26, but I changed my mind on the biodiversity question from Colombia to Mexico because I already knew Colombia was an answer to a later question. That's what I get for trying to outsmart the quiz.
Awesome video Welsh ! I was just hoping you could leave a few seconds at the end after you finish talking, otherwise we get instantly blasted with an ad x10 louder 😢
Got 27/30. Didn't have a guess for #9 as I was only thinking of European or East Asian countries, but couldn't think of one that would fit the bill and have 3 million people. Also got questions #16 (went for Vietnam) and #19 (guessed Cote d'Ivoire) wrong.
23/30 - Macau is not a country so said Singapore - 50/50 between Qatar and UAE for GDP per capita said UAE :/ - wasn’t sure between Lesotho and eswatini said eswatini :/ - Lake Bled had no idea - 50/50 Poland or Russia for vodka, said Russia - 50/50 between South Africa and Kenya, said South Africa (57M threw me off) - Went Indonesia instead of Malaysia for the caves, in hindsight should’ve realised Indonesia is on the equator not north of it :/

Urgh. Can't believe it's related to trophy hunting. Disgusting 🤢 I thought it was about the biggest mammals or something 😢
