i don't know if i'd say it's cringe...but there is something i dislike about people reducing countries they've visited to just a number on their list. i think when people start speeding through countries just to get their numbers up, then it's cringe. but if you visit a place, have some real experiences, and are just aware of how many countries you've been to, then it's all a part of a good travel story/journey to me.

Heartwarming and thoughtful as always. Love the jingle. Love the genuine, relaxed format. Really enjoyed listening to your thoughts on country counting and sustainable travel. We've went back and forth on continuing to have a country goal for a while now as it seems like a nice UA-cam channel story but it can feel a bit reductionist. Like the country is just a number. And for sure that graph can feel demoralizing, Josh. You are not alone. But we also totally loved (and maybe needed) to hear your optimistic outlook on the fact that we shouldn't give up. If we all chip in to reduce our footprint, it will definitely help. Cheers to you 🍻
Follow up question. Have you ever considered donating to an organization to offset your carbon induced footprint? We don't. But we've thought about it. There are some seemingly good organizations that buy up land in the Amazon to prevent it from being razed and seeded for cattle farming but we haven't sent anything yet.
Anyways, sending warm hugs wherever you guys are. Subscribed and excited for more 🤗

This is unrelated but you guys both have really good positive vibes. I don't really watch for the travel, but I enjoy watching your personalities and the dynamic between the both of you. Looking forward to more vids!

You have inspired us to go to Singapore. We live in Japan and we’re booked to go during golden week. We’re not budget travelers but I still love your channel and get great ideas from you. Thank you!

Thoughtful video. I am a proponent of pinning places instead of countries. Spending a month or more in a country visiting 4 or 5 communities and dozens of places gives me a chance to really experience the country. If I look in every direction and see no tourists and I stick out like a sore thumb I feel like I am in the right place. Question. I think it was this video, you mentioned buying a small wifi router. What kind did you get? I think this will be helpful for those silly hotels that block firesticks from the hotel wifi. Thanks and keep it up!

Thank you so much for this video and for tackling the not so happy topic of climate change and how we can travel more sustainably and thoughtfully. Starting the conversation is HUGE. It's a win if by doing this it causes even one person to stop and think about what they can do for the better. My husband and I travel ... we do what we can ... we fly to the closest destination and once in a country we try our very best to stay on the ground traveling by train or bus even if it takes longer, we walk everywhere. We take our own straws, mugs and cutlery. We say no to plastic bags. We hang dry our clothes. It's the small daily actions ... it's what we can do. If everyone does the constant little things it adds up to big things. Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction. Ps. (Ceri pronounced Kerry ... 🙂)

I love the jingle! Please don’t get rid of it. Every Thursday I get that jingle in my head all day long and I don’t mind! On another note, I miss Wine and Recline. Loved that so much!

Its funny when we say we have been to xx amount of countries but in reality we have been to small parts of a country, could we say we have seen Japan for instance if weve only been to Tokyo, I did fall victim to wanting to see everywhere and would try cram as much new places in to each trip and put pins in my world map with pride, but i have learned as you have its better to slow things down and really embrace the area your in and also to revisit places that truly inspire as its not about the number its about the experience. Appreciate all you do Lisa and Josh

Do you have any tips to handle the humidity of SE Asia? I’m going to Bali (and Taipei!) in Feb/Mar and it’s been a few years since I’ve had to deal with crazy humidity. I’m from Vancouver 🇨🇦 and just can’t handle it 😅.

BTW, French workers don’t usually strike over pay. It’s more like political activism, to send messages to their elected representatives.

I count countries and really don't care what others think about it... I like to know what percentage of the world I've been to and how many new opportunities are left

I do have another question relating to your observations and/or opinions of others in the “field”, you know, how often do you encounter others creating content where you are? With all the tech available these days, phones, bodycam, selfie stick, helmet/dash cam, drones, etc. Is everyone out there making videos where they are, you included? How instrusive/offputting/ “insert word here” is this to you?

Josh, I'm gonna assume that I have your consent to use the term Omega Cringe in my daily conversations. Of course I'll give you credit, but I'm sorry...I just cannot not use that term going forward. Its too good.

Like you, I really struggle with the "sustainability of travel" issue and the desire to travel. Unlike you, I am 64, and I don't have time to wait for science. I agree that you have to try your best to do what you can to help the planet. And I do this in so many other ways. 🫤And I don't want to feel hopeless.😊
