In all honesty, I feel like Zootopia was better than Frozen. You know why? There's so much more plot and background and development of not only the plot, but the characters as well. SO many movies forget to put in a lot of development nowadays. To me, this movie was really a beautiful movie depicting the truth of life in the real world, but also how we can change stereotypes that are based on ourselves.
no one disagrees with you xD look at the amount of work they had put into this, even if it doesn't have a musical score, this movie proves to be one of the best animated movies since toy story 3... I could even par this with Inside Out and Wreck it Ralph
I personally think Zootopia is better than Frozen in every way. Zootopia had more relatable character. Zootopia's main comic relief(Which had to be the sloths), weren't in your face annoying like most animated films comic relief are (Ex: Olaf, the minions, etc.) Zootopia didn't have forced ballads in the middle of their movie like Frozen did. Zootopia's villain wasn't just relatably evil like Frozen's. Bellweather was somewhat abused by Lionheart and you could kind of see why she would've been influenced to try to take over his power. Even though people complain about Gazelle being forced in the movie, I think having her as the big pop icon to speak out against what was happening to Zootopia added a sense of realism to the movie as in real life, we see celebs comment on bad situations as well.
+The Joker so true frozen has nothing on Zootopia forget the box office numbers Zootopia is a better all around movie it was so good I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this movie
We really, REALLY need to move past saying "kid's movie" when referring to animated features, especially Disney ones. Absolutely loved this film through and through!
+Brookes Eggleston - Character Design Forge I disagree. Disney panders to children in the same way all studios do: with simple cliche plot lines for the kids and subtly adult oriented jokes that sail over the average kids' head for the parents. Other studios simply don't have Disney's talent in animation and powerful brand ( the latter being especially important). That being said, zootopia offers blatantly obvious social commentary and puts everything else on the back burner. The first of its kind as I said.
Zootopia 2 will hopefully receive praise and critical and commercial acclaim from fans and critics alike for its animation, new settings, voice acting for the characters, characters, subject matter, comedy, musical numbers and songs, plot and story and emotional depth and was deemed superior to the first movie and was regarded as one of the greatest Disney and Pixar sequels of all time and the greatest Walt Disney Animation Studios theatrical sequel of all time beating Moana 2 and superior to Frozen III and Disney Animation’s greatest non-fantasy theatrical sequel of all time and an improvement over and much better version of Ralph Breaks the Internet and one of the greatest Disney and Pixar sequels of all time. Nick and Judy might also have Disney Deaths in the movie like Robin Hood, Pinocchio and Wall-E did same for Beast/Prince Adam or a beloved character not Gazelle or Clawhauser but Chief Bogo or Flash might even be killed off to add depth to Nick and Judy’s characters.
I liked how they addressed real social issues of today's society but in the most kid friendly way possible. I'm talking drugs, underground drug services, government enacted terrorism, racism, sexism, so on. It was more than just a "be yourself" or "try your best" type movie.
Just got back from the movie theater. This is the one movie everyone should go see this year. It doesn't matter if it's an animated "kids" movie. The movie is truly a masterpiece. So relevant and mature.... and very profound. Like I said... everyone should go see it.... and pay very close attention to the central theme of the movie. And it's hilarious too. So... win win win!
+Jacob Martinez And It just passed Inside Out in the # of reviews it took to get a rotten one, and it STILL has %100. Dare I say this will be a classic bigger than Frozen?
+Nick Snyder I thought the whole movie, while outwardly talking about inclusion and diversity, was actually pretty racist. It would have (possibly) bothered me less if the issues had been addressed by more than the inspirational message speech at the end. (Actually discussed this in the review I did on my channel.) I know most people love this movie, but it didn't sit well with me at all.
Nick Snyder Yes--and the comments about calling them "savages", too. Or, what about the example with Nick of how he's "bad" because of how he was treated as a child and that explains his choices in life now? Or, the "articulate fella" comment? How do kids watching the movie know that they're trying to make a point? Ugh.
+ZoeHewittHosting. very adult things kids wont get in the movie that are really doing the opposite of what its trying to say about racism. and i really appreciated the breaking bad joke that no one else in my theater got :)
I thought the idea of certain smaller animals fearing the larger animals, without truly knowing them felt a little like Islamaphobia. They were born to fear them and assume they were dangerous and destructive by nature.
I was hoping he was gonna talk about the scenery in this movie, but DEAR SWEET BABY JESUS the movie was so beautiful and interesting to just watch, the scenes of the actual city Zootopia was just breathtaking and it was so fluid and funny and I LOVED THIS MOVIE
m a r l a the scenery was good but not enough so no need to mention it. The only part of the sceneries that is awesome is the first zootopia scene. The when judy and nick was in the cable car in the forest and the night howler building next to a water fall.
I don't even watch breaking bad, and I got the reference, it's good, and how about the parody of the Godfather? That was well done xD I really liked that lil guy
I love when adults like Chris don't look at animated films and automatically go "oh, it's animated. That means it's gonna suck cause it's for kids." My parents are like that and it pisses me off -_-
LaceeLasers same bro. This comment is old af, but I'm creeping in the comments hardcore..... they refuse to watch any disney movie. I finally forced them to watch Zootopia a couple of weeks ago😂
+CreationStory I'm not sure if I saw that particular trailer, but the one I saw just made it look like a kids movie with a dumb premise. But hey, impressions can be wrong, I guess.
I honestly expected this to be a really kiddish movie when I first went in the theatre, but absolutely loved the movie. Impressions from the trailer are definitely different than actually watching it.
I feel like the marketing has been a major disservice to this movie. Surprises can be cool, be I had ZERO interest in seeing this movie until I saw Jeremy and Chris's reviews. When the first trailer dropped, I thought it was literally the most generic looking uninspired kids movie ever made. The only thing that first trailer sold was "hey, we've got anthropomorphic animals, GENIUS!" Now I'm genuinely excited to see the film, but my excitement comes from reviews and not the marketing itself, that's not a good thing.
i also love zootopia because there was no romance involved in the story its just Nick and Judy being the best bros ever and i love that, stories about good and thoughtful friendships are so good.
Finally saw it. I was blown away by the messages, the little details and subtext it was not afraid to show, especially to a younger audience and in such a positive way. This was so much more than the buddy cop movie I was expecting (although it did do just that exceptionally well!). I am so proud of Disney I could cry. Which I did. I dare say this is my new favourite Disney movie. Also dat Breaking Bad reference! Love it! P.S. Your thumbnail was NOT misleading, I knew straight away it was the face of awe (:
JokerJon00 Bleah. The Godfather one was nice, but Breaking Bad ? Really ? Plus the movie could have been better. Too much of a social satire I would expect from Seinfeld.
I took my niece to Zootopia and we both had a great time. The theater sold out and I was surprised at how good it was. Especially its social commentary. :) Can't wait to see it again.
You could've replaced all the characters in this film with human beings, give it a live action / more serious tone, and it would've been a great neo-noir crime thriller with an honest and deep message about racism and government corruption. The people saying that the film *is* racist are completely missing the point. All of the characters struggle with prejudices and stereotypes, which is just honest. They're flawed characters, which is what makes it a great film. The film even goes so deep as to explain that, even when a person fulfills some stereotype, it's largely because of the social pressure, oppression, and marginalization they face. Judy felt bad for assuming Nick was "shifty" when she first encountered him, but it turned out he actually was shifty, right? Does that mean Judy was right to make that assumption? Well, later on, we realize he had no choice but to fulfill the role the rest of society forced upon him because of their prejudices. Kids will catch that, because it's made very clear. If you didn't catch that, then maybe you're the one struggling with some deep-seeded racism, because, maybe you're living in some fantasy world where all stereotypes are simply flat out untrue, but by believing that, you're completely glossing over what the real problem is with racism and stereotyping. You're advocating a "colorblind" ethos that is, in fact, a very white-bread concept. If you believe we should all be colorblind, you won't recognize the real injustices that marginalized groups face. Let me give you an example. Is it racist for me to say "black people are poor"? It's a generalization, right? It's a stereotype, right? Yeah, not all black people are poor. But the fact that the African American community struggles with poverty is something that ought to be highlighted, and it's important to be honest about that fact. They struggle with poverty because they're made to feel like they're simply supposed to be impoverished, just like Nick is "supposed" to be shifty. But if I go out with a POC friend and insist on buying dinner for him because I'm assuming he's poor for no reason, that's a different thing from highlighting the struggles that POC face with respect to poverty. When we make assumptions and treat people badly based on those stereotypes, the stereotypes end up fulfilling their own prophecy. This film is actually very nuanced, honest, and real about what a stereotype is, and the problem with them isn't that they simply hurt individual people, but they hurt entire communities of people. That's the important home-run message of the film that you're missing. "Colorblindness" is not a solution to racism; it fuels it. That's clearly very uncomfortable for a lot of white people who falsely believe that they're sincerely colorblind and that if everyone would just be colorblind like they are, there'd be no racism, when nothing could be further from the truth. Now, if you wanted to make the argument that these themes would completely fly over the heads of anyone who's already racist, and possibly even use the film to confirm their own biases, I can see why you'd make that argument, but to say the film itself is racist just means you weren't paying attention to what was going on. The message wasn't "clear"? How? I just don't understand that. It's made clear repeatedly throughout the film, and every character struggles with racial prejudices, which is so true to life, it hurts. Every community in the film faces some sort of hurtful stereotype which segregates them in some way. The film isn't a direct metaphor (it's not prey=white, and predator=black); this is a wholly different universe, and the metaphors lie within the characters and their actions, not with the structure of their society. That is to say, there are no black or white characters, there are bunnies, foxes, giraffes, lions, etc, and by giving us a new lens through which to see stereotyping, we can understand it from an outside, more objective point of view. That's what's great about this film.
+::: STICKY DROSERA I thought your comment was quite accurate except for this point: "But the fact that the African American community struggles with poverty is something that ought to be highlighted, and it's important to be honest about that fact. They struggle with poverty because they're made to feel like they're simply supposed to be impoverished, just like Nick is "supposed" to be shifty." I don't think any black person becomes impoverished because society has made them think they should be impoverished--that's just silly. Nick does become shifty because that's how society believes he should be BUT ALSO because shiftiness was a positive necessity to improve his own life. If he wasn't shifty, he probably wouldn't have been able to make a living. There's not really any benefit to becoming impoverished, so even while a black person may be aware of the generalization that black people are usually poor, no black person willing becomes impoverished as a way to improve their lives. That wouldn't make any sense. That being said, there definitely are some self-fulfilling prophecies for many races and ethnicities. Going back to the African American example, many inner-city blacks definitely do feel pressure from those of their own race to become tough, gun-wielding thugs who should be adept at fighting and have sex with as many women as possible. That might be a stereotype, but it's undeniably a real one. I sympathize with the black child who grows up in tough cities like Detroit or southern Chicago and instead of pursuing a strong education and trustworthy friends they go down the path of gangs and guns and drugs and sex and violence because that is what many of the other African Americans of the community tell them they should be and pressure them to become. It becomes the "right" or "cool" thing to do to become a gang member, when anyone outside of this community could tell you that that is not the correct course for success.
I loved this movie so much, because it didn't show the simple bland "You can be whatever you want" while showing the sloths to be really slow and Nick mocking Judy's little speech, and Finnick dreaming of being an elephant, which is physically impossible, it shows that everybody has their limits, but we are also all very different and have different advantages, it shows variety and the message is yeah, we all have limits, but we also have unique strenghts, it also touches on racial stereotypes, but not the bland "Oh you are racist and I'm not" no, even Nick who suffered from discrimination, at one point calls all wolfs empty headed and stupid, that is, yeah, discrimination, in fact, I think everyone at this movie does discriminate from time to time, even when Judy brings the fox pepper spray, because her parents got some crazy ideas into her head, and I loved the part of the movie where she sees Nick, thinks he is suspicious, and then feels guilty about feeling suspicious of a fox, when in fact, HE WAS GUILTY! So it touches on racism in many more ways than just one, that is, it represents something I have felt, and most of us have, we feel one person is sketchy and then we feel guilty because we feel we might be being racist. This was an awesome movie, Nick and Judy are also very likeable and 3 dimensional.
What I'm getting from the negative comments is that people think children are moronic and can't possibly grasp that a main character has flaws. Of course an eight year old can understand the message of the film. All of y'all who are afraid that children will miss the point and think it's okay to be prejudiced are seriously underestimating kids' ability to digest basic themes. I mean, it's not like the movie was super subtle in saying "hey, racism is bad and the bunny was wrong for judging the fox." That's basically the entire point of the movie.
And its great because as a fun movie maybe in 5 or 10 years time the kids who watch it now will think "Hey I really enjoyed that!" and whether they picked up on the messages or not then they will now. So its a movie that can have added meaning over time, from both a moral and emotional level with nick and judy.
I went April 5th, and it was still offered in 3D. I went to the 6:40 showing, and it was almost entirely adults, to my astonishment. We screamed like it was a horror movie--our audience was loud!!--but these were howls of glee and cuteness. It was fantastic. I'm pretty sure we all cried, too. I want to go again. Thanks, Chris, for your reviews like this one.
Funny because a lot of people also thought that it wasn't 'hammered in' ENOUGH. If two of the biggest complaints about a movie contradict one another then it's gotta be the perfect film! Haha
+Saga Again, it's just a nitpick cause I think a kid can understand it very easily without having to constantly repeated. And as much as I love it, sorry, but there's no such thing as a perfect film cX
I just read your book. It was absolutely incredible. It floored me. Your writing style is so unique, so interesting. I had no idea you could write like that. I practically cried at your closing. As you said, " It leaves us wanting more, which is exactly what it should do." Impressive Stuckmann, most impressive.
One of the funniest scenes in this movie was when Duke Weaselton was selling DVDs like Pig Hero 6 (Big Hero 6), Wreck-it Rhino (Wreck-it Ralph), and Wrangled (Tangled). Even movies not out yet like Meowna (Moana), and Giraffic (Gigantic).
Gonna respectfully disagree with you on that one. I've re-watched inside out many times, Zootopia only a couple. Didn't dislike it, definitely has some good stuff. Just didn't like it as much.
A few years ago I guessed that Giacchino would be the 21st century's John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, and James Horner. He totally is! His music has been owning the past few years, in both musical technically, orchestration, and catching themes. Thank-you Stuckmann for always giving a shout out to great scores, too many people forget about the underscore in recent years, it's so refreshing when reviewers call attention to the job music does in movies!! thanks!
This movie is amazing! Honestly, i would really like to see a sequel. There’s SO MUCH POTENTIAL with this world they created, so why not keep expanding with these lovable characters and unique world?
I saw this movie at an early screening a few months ago. Please, please, PLEASE see this movie, guys. The trailers certainly don't do it justice. The animation is top notch, the themes (very mature themes at that) are very on the nose and timely, and Judy Hopps is one of the most loveable animated characters of all time. I only have one gripe, but it's a really tiny one. Like, seriously, this movie is spectacular, go see it.
ThoughtsOfALeo It's a spoiler, so read at your own discretion... *SPOILER ALERT* The big mystery surrounding the bad guy is kind of obvious (that poor sheep was getting mistreated the entire film), and the solution they came up with concerning the berries wraps everything up in a nice little bow, and I feel like there could have been a more fluid solution to the problem. This is the part Chris was talking about, where the movie kind of drags (it picks up again when they discover the cure). And the "final battle", when the fox fakes his rage mode was kind of anti-climatic. Just everything about the "cure" kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. And there were a few other things I thought about, like what do mammals eat if they're at peace with their prey? Where are the birds and fish in this world? Etc. But regardless of these things, the movie deserves all the praise it's going to get, and I can't wait to see the fully completed version in theaters this weekend (When I saw it, some of the animations where incomplete).
Chris, you really deserve more subscribers than you have. You have 600,000 subs, but I really believe you deserve more than 1,000,000 subs. Good job man, keep doing what you're doing.
My thoughts exactly, I was so surprised how this movie was designed to appeal to children. but contain a story that dealt with much bigger issues that we see everyday. And not only that but have characters that are really relatable.
Aside from Frozen (I personally got tired of it, nothing really against the film) Disney's been killing it the past few years in animation. Doing even better than Pixar's last few. That honestly astounds me
This is the first review of Zootopia I have seen and you surprised me when you said it was great. I wasn't even planning to see it but now I may. Thanks Chris.
Stuckmann, don´t forget to play the 2 player mode of Superman 64. It´s a lot of fun, specially if you play it with your wife, and nobody has done it before.
Just watched Zootopia and decided to come back and rewatch this review. I loved this movie and think all adults should watch it AT LEAST once.. And try to apply the message that was introduced so beautifully in this movie to their actual current lives and situations.
I didn't see this movie in theaters because I assumed it would just be another awful animal movie but then I watched it on dvd and really regretted not going and seeing it.
+ArcticTaco I actually guessed right. I knew it was around A- to A. I have a high expectation for the movie itself so I think it deserves an A as well. Chris tried to make the thumbnail misleading, but it didn't fool me. Just judging from the trailer alone, it is too good to be a B movie.
So happy you loved it - I reviewed it & thought it was just as great as you. Fantastic movie, really hope everyone can see it! I mean, we went in wanting a light chuckle, and came out talking about the refugee crisis, the black lives matter movement etc etc. Did NOT expect it at all. and as for the "light chuckle"? I laughed a hell of a lot throughout. Excellent movie.
I just watched this movie today and I must say that I'm thrilled. I never thought that an animated movie would address a controversial issue such as prejudice, and it did in a very amazing way! (I almost started getting emotional with Nick's flashback) This movie is sure worth watching for kids and adults because, despite lecturing about a deeper matter, it carries a good energy of excitement, humor and action. Just like a good movie from the company always does.
From the moment I saw the black sheep describe how his carrier prospects now had becoming an Astronaut within range, I knew this film was going to play on societal undertones not fit for the typical demographic for whom such films are made. I loved it.
+Andrew Steel (Boneclinks) Have you seen the movie? This movie holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2 rating on IMDB. So think before you post stupid shit like that.
***** No, I don't hate every animated movie. I think this movie was for too obvious with its forced agenda. Just seemed like I was being preached to the whole time. Not to mention the plot is over done. Put X into strange new place. WoW fish out of water! But, with animals this time! It's the same plot as madagascar!
+Andrew “Boneclinks” Steel While I agree that Zootopia really isn't 99% RT quality, keep in mind that it is a Disney movie that is well written and fleshed out as it is articulate. Critics tend to love Disney movies - and it's a well written one, at that. Naturally, it's going to get a high score. That being said, it really annoys me when people blame under-handed methods to a movie's critical success - especially when it's simply because they dislike something. Where was the bribery for The Good Dinosaur, or Cars 2, or Monster's University? If there's that much bribery going on, why is there any score difference at all between this and Frozen?
You should consider watching and reviewing Song of the Sea, it's a really beautifully animated Irish film that many people believe should have one best animated feature in 2014.
I had high expectations for this movie ever since I heard about it back in early 2015. I'm not necessarily a furry but the kind of art I draw is anthropomorphic animals, so naturally I'd be excited for a movie like this. When I saw it, I was BEYOND impressed. The animation was fantastic, the jokes were hilarious, the main characters were lovable (especially Nick Wilde), the action was very entertaining, and the message was beautiful. Growing up as an Indian girl in America is pretty hard, not only am I a woman, but also a minority. This movie was very relatable, heartfelt, and touching. I usually don't buy movies, but I will DEFINITELY be buying Zootopia on DVD. 10/10 great movie 👍
Despite the fact that Disney's last three animated features were good,I went into this with a certain amount of apprehension, fearful that I was going to be subjected to another "Chicken Little" (Disney's first non-Pixar CGI feature, also set in a world of anthropomorphic animals)...which was horrible. I'm happy to report that wasn't the case.
I was somewhat judgemental of the fandom until I realised how much zoophilia is looked down upon. That really is about the only think that you are actually judge for sharing.
Very glad to hear you enjoyed it. I love Disney and can't wait to watch it! The face you made on your icon when I clicked the video made me think you hated it but it was just the face you made for Superman 64!
I didn't know what to expect wtih this film and was pleasantly surprised about the message of racism. Very smart and very under the skin. And also the first since Robin Hood to do an anthropomorphic animal cast!
In all honesty, I feel like Zootopia was better than Frozen. You know why? There's so much more plot and background and development of not only the plot, but the characters as well. To be fair this was the first of its kind for Disney. Something with an explicit political message.

Yep

+Knight Wonder yeah, and the score probably wont stop lowering until a few weeks later, i will say it'll probably around 90% or 91%
anybody else notice she racially profiled the fox at the ice cream store?
SLIGHTLY SPOILERY:
Yes. And she did it again. That was part of one of the movie's messages about tolerance. Deep down, Judy was scared of Nick.

Zootopia is indeed a modern animated masterpiece. Tons of laugh with an actual story behind and some nice twists.

an animated movie that's an allegory for racism, Islamophobia, the war on drugs etc. Absolute classic!!!
So what? Trump is winning
Islamaphobia? When?
not exactly islamophobia, more like prejudice in general
I thought the idea of certain smaller animals fearing the larger animals, without truly knowing them felt a little like Islamaphobia. They were born to fear them and assume they were dangerous and destructive by nature.
yeah, that's pretty much racism in a nutshell, not just islamophobia. for example, when people assume members of another race are gangsters and thugs

"I use to be a hunter, how I hunt tax frauds" - Some tiger guy
Disney is officially in its second Renaissance
+NamesSimba The truth has been spoken
Should have gotten an A+ in my opinion
The breaking bad reference is proof this is a movie for adults...
You mean Breaking Baaaaaaaad right?
omg
I don't even watch breaking bad, and I got the reference, it's good, and how about the parody of the Godfather? That was well done xD I really liked that lil guy
I didn't watch the breaking bad. Can someone explain to me the reference?
Is there question that the true demographic if for younger adolescents to adults?
Can you do a Retro Rewind of Twin Peaks???
TWINSPEAK
+Mason Young That gum Chris likes is going to come back in style.
I would literally shit myself if he did that
this is a DAMN FINE comment
+Ghost Teeth Official Damn dude
I love when adults like Chris don't look at animated films and automatically go "oh, it's animated. That means it's gonna suck cause it's for kids." My parents are like that and it pisses me off -_-
LaceeLasers tbh i was like that till i watched zootopia. What a great movie. Loved it.
Different kind of adult. He was raised with animation movies, so he knows it.
LaceeLasers same bro. This comment is old af, but I'm creeping in the comments hardcore..... they refuse to watch any disney movie. I finally forced them to watch Zootopia a couple of weeks ago😂
I genuinely thought he was being sarcastic throughout the entire review. I expected this movie to suck.
Same!!
+SporadicDuck I watched the Supergirl hilariocity then I watched this. He is talking in the same tone in both. It was a bit confusing XD
+SporadicDuck Did you not watch the trailer? Because I doubt you would've thought its gonna suck if you saw the trailer. The one with the sloth.
Norm of the North is better
Agreed.
Rob Schinder truly outdid himself! 10/10; Would see again! -IGN
Duh! Thanks, captain Obvious...
norm of the North > inside out.
+Just Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider Man norm of the north > citizen kane
I feel like the marketing has been a major disservice to this movie. Surprises can be cool, be I had ZERO interest in seeing this movie until I saw Jeremy and Chris's reviews. When the first trailer dropped, I thought it was literally the most generic looking uninspired kids movie ever made. The only thing that first trailer sold was "hey, we've got anthropomorphic animals, GENIUS!" Now I'm genuinely excited to see the film, but my excitement comes from reviews and not the marketing itself, that's not a good thing.
Anyone saw the Breaking Bad references in the movie
Yeah I did.
Yup, I did.
i also love zootopia because there was no romance involved in the story
its just Nick and Judy being the best bros ever and i love that, stories about good and thoughtful friendships are so good.
Someone give him a hug for playing that video game.
Superman 64?
But you said you would definatly, DEFINATLY, not do Superman 64!
I feel betrayed :P
Betrayed*
+Glori Castillo Thanks :D
I also misspelled definitely
English isn't my first language, i'm afraid... that's Dutch :P
+Jeroen van Wees I'm sorry but we can't forgive you. Here in America if you ever misspell a word the you are executed on the spot. Nice knowing you...
Ryan MacDonald Really? Better don't skip school then :P
Ryan MacDonald Also i think you meant `...then you are executed...' not `...the you are executed...'
But it was nice knowing you to :D
Finally saw it. I was blown away by the messages, the little details and subtext it was not afraid to show, especially to a younger audience and in such a positive way. This was so much more than the buddy cop movie I was expecting (although it did do just that exceptionally well!).
I am so proud of Disney I could cry. Which I did. I dare say this is my new favourite Disney movie.
Also dat Breaking Bad reference! Love it!
P.S. Your thumbnail was NOT misleading, I knew straight away it was the face of awe (:
chris's best movies of the year so far
A+ Deadpool
A. Zootopia
A- The Witch, Only Yesterday, Kung Fu Panda 3
That's Awesome
This year is gonna be a weird one, eh?
At least it'll be interesting though.
Possible Spoiler,
but that Breaking B-a-a-a-a-a-d reference in the movie tho
+J Roz i caught that too! it was awesome XD none of the kids in the theatre knew of course lol
+J Roz I thought that was stupid and unnecessary. Just thrown in for nerds and to look "MOAR ADULT". More like pretentious.
I loved that along with the Godfather reference. Amazing movie.
JokerJon00 Bleah. The Godfather one was nice, but Breaking Bad ? Really ?
Plus the movie could have been better. Too much of a social satire I would expect from Seinfeld.
Suspicious Moon I know. I saw the movie. And that's why I find it pretentious doing an easter egg like that.
I took my niece to Zootopia and we both had a great time. The theater sold out and I was surprised at how good it was. Especially its social commentary. :) Can't wait to see it again.
Sweet!!! I did not expect that from the previews! Gonna watch. Thanx Chris.
Dang did you say that all in one breath?? Haha Great review though chris :)

Im talking about the times when there is no cut, he did this review really fast
Jumpcuts everywhere, what are you on?
+::: STICKY DROSERA I thought your comment was quite accurate except for this point:
"But the fact that the African American community struggles with poverty is something that ought to be highlighted, and it's important to be honest about that fact. They struggle with poverty because they're made to feel like they're simply supposed to be impoverished, just like Nick is "supposed" to be shifty."
I don't think any black person becomes impoverished because society has made them think they should be impoverished--that's just silly.
Dude, identity politics suck though.
holy crap I need to copy that wall of text to use it to explain why I like a movie....you don't mind do you?
+BlueNoteOne identity politics? like racism and such? it's a great movie man just give it a shot
+BlueNoteOne look up reviews if you need to
Starring Jesse and Walter White. You know what I mean if you've watched it.
When did this comment section turn into a fucking political debate? Enjoy the review!
Lol
Fuck your political views.
Jk…i kno one of guys are take it serious anyway.
I have that bb8 drone... it suks
That sloth scene tho xD
Ikr
I just realized they added some Zootopia shorts to Disney plus recently. I hope this means something for the future of a sequel.
My only nitpick is that the moral got a little too hammered in, but otherwise it's one of the best movies of the year!
Kinda really depends on your taste. Some favor action, some favor great storytelling. To me, I love great executed action along with good dialogue.
Super Man 64?!
Are you going to pull a AVGN on us!?
I just realized you have 2 Zootopia toys in the background of this video.
Floatzen 2
Frozen 2
this movie better get a fucking sequel i've seen it just yesterday and i plan on watching it like 4 more times.
Way better than Inside Out
Inside out was depressing
Gonna respectfully disagree with you on that one. I've re-watched inside out many times, Zootopia only a couple. Didn't dislike it, definitely has some good stuff. Just didn't like it as much.
Any one else notice the Breaking Bad references?
Hahah I was rolling. "My friends outside: Walt and Jesse"
+Brandon Jones *Woolter & Jesse

MadelineTopper I heard one laugh. ONE! Props to disney
+Chris Stuckmann Fun fact; Judy Hopps is voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, aka, Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard on ABC's *Once Upon A Time*.
Just curious, what is that one gripe?
ThoughtsOfALeo It's a spoiler, so read at your own discretion...
*SPOILER ALERT*
The big mystery surrounding the bad guy is kind of obvious (that poor sheep was getting mistreated the entire film), and the solution they came up with concerning the berries wraps everything up in a nice little bow, and I feel like there could have been a more fluid solution to the problem.
Oh....well, I will read it after I see it then! Thanks for the warning ahead of time! :D

Tangled, Frozen, Big Hero 6, and now Zootopia. Disney is fucking killing it.
+Marty Byers (CommanderLewis) Not surprised, it is Disney after all. Looks like they've gotten out of their little slump and are back in form.
I only liked Tangled out of the first three. Hopefully my experience with this film will be similar.
wreck it ralph
Yeah, Tangled was okay... the other two you mentioned there I loath.
+Trigger Happy You loathed Big Hero 6? Whoa, that's a new one! O_o
FANTASTIC movie. Loved every minute. The fox and the bunny are two of the most charming characters in a while.
Aside from Frozen (I personally got tired of it, nothing really against the film) Disney's been killing it the past few years in animation. Doing even better than Pixar's last few. That honestly astounds me
Of course, it's from someone who made Wreck it Ralph, which should have won the Oscar for Best Animated Film that year
This is the first review of Zootopia I have seen and you surprised me when you said it was great. I wasn't even planning to see it but now I may. Thanks Chris.
Adults enjoying this more than kids?

this movie was Amazing!
definitively a 10/10. gonna buy the Blu Ray on day one
I love the breaking bad reference with the sheep making a blue substance, also the two people he answers the door to called Walter and Jesse.
When Chris has no idea what facial expression to do for a thumbnail : this thumbnail.
I didn't see this movie in theaters because I assumed it would just be another awful animal movie but then I watched it on dvd and really regretted not going and seeing it.
Yeah Michael Giacchino never ceases to amaze
Chris, your t-shirts are always amazing. You never fail to deliver
From the director of Tangled (Byron Howard). Definitely seeing this the end of this month. Its called Zootroplis here in Ireland.
Does anyone feel just happy when Disney makes good movies?
+Zack Midboe Hopefully Moana will be good too.
0:03 Please be good! Pleaase!
0:40 *Sigh of relief*
Judging by thumbnail: B+
A
+ArcticTaco A!!!!
great success
Well, it got an A.
+ArcticTaco
I actually guessed right.
4 years and I still can't get over this movie
Stuffed Animals in the background really caught my eyes.
The Judy Hops & Nick Wilde *plush toys* behind Chris are _adorable_.
I kinda want one :)
So its this year's Inside Out? Then will Moana be The Good Dinosaur?
I loved it.
My second favorite film of the year.
Film Buff 62 what was your favourite movie of 2016?
Silviya Lal It changed from Civil War to La La Land.
my number one was civil war
but i have not gotten a chance to watch la la land
how much did they pay you?
+Andrew Steel (Boneclinks) Have you seen the movie? This movie holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2 rating on IMDB. So think before you post stupid shit like that.
***** I did see the movie and I'm not swayed by obviously paid off critics. Sorry!
Mako Mock-o Maybe I'm just jaded due to the underhandedness of the video game review industry... Good points though.
I see those plushies in the background chris. You can't fool me.
Fluffy conspiracy???
WHAT!?Only an A!?
Average Slytherin I can't remember if he ever gave a movie higher than an A.
Could tell from the start that Chris liked it bc he has the dolls
Despite the fact that Disney's last three animated features were good,I went into this with a certain amount of apprehension, fearful that I was going to be subjected to another "Chicken Little" (Disney's first non-Pixar CGI feature, also set in a world of anthropomorphic animals)...which was horrible.
I'm happy to report that wasn't the case.
Shut up, your just a hater!
Chicken little for life
Chicken Little = Disney's Dragon Ball Evolution
Another excellent, informative review Chris. Thank you.
