Planning is the most important lesson

  • @colinzeller4423

planning is the most important, with a mock up, although everything seems as important as another, a detailed plan and procedure for whatever you are building is essential for time management and ultimately making something that you can use. I've built so many different things that were great in theory but I did not plan for inevitable obstructions that wound up leaving a hole in a panel and an awesome little pile of what use to be fiberglass and mdf mixed with a day of hard work without planning. Good job on your videos.

One answer covers every point here: the 7 'P' rule. Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents a P155 Poor Performance. Actually it doesn't; take your time, never rush a job, I completely agree with 'measure twice, cut once'.
But the most important rule of all: make it look and sound SLAMMIN!!
nice vids dude. going to be using a lot of your techniques on my install.

I would have to agree with you Mark in planning is key. I made little sketches in my notebook of builds plenty of times. Thinking how my space I will have and need. What design will look best and flow with the car. You want to make sure you have it write on paper before you start cutting wood and using fiberglass and have to change your design. That will be a lot of wasted time and material, and we both know those are not cheap.

If the goal was all out SQ I wouldn't be putting tweeters in the doors, they would be in the a pillar in a nice 3 way active set up. But that wasn't the goal here. Owner of the vehicle didnt want the pod infringing on the foot space within the vehicle, so I was limited on how much i could tweak the angle. Not everyone has the same goal... a valuable tip to learn, thanks for watching!

    • @SecretaryBootyyJuice

Joel Hunter it's not only where you place them, but also HOW you place them. The one thing I wish he would have also included in this video series would be for him to seal them for a nice tight mid-bass. He could have also touched on some basics about sound deadening materials and how to apply them IN THIS SITUATION. I know he has other videos about that topic, but it would be a great bit of knowledge to accompany this particular install.
