It's also a base of 2 amenities and doesn't give more for anything, just an additional 1 culture for city center or entertainment complex. Literally just finished my last single player game as them. Never even got to use his leader ability at all (they razed the only conquered city, so no liberation possible 😂).

Turn 79 Labs + naughty government is an incredible pace. This game also showcased that having good culture, especially with Oxford being in the culture tree, can accelerate a science victory just as much as getting a lot of science early on. Better governments, better cards, more envoys, more governor titles is good value. It wouldn't be as strong if there were blue city states or if the medieval era scientists were actually useful but in this particular lobby going theatre squares was definitely the right play and would have allowed for either science or culture victory.
I have a ton of respect for Herson, he's actually trying to grow the community and help new players. Unfortunately, a lot of the civ community is pretty shady. If someone not in the club is winning, the game is magically plagued by technical issues and scrapped. One of the cool kids club members that was behind all game finally gets into top 3, instant CC vote. Not to mention the constant teaming in ffa games, some people just never seem to attack each other. I really hope civ7 has servers, matchmaking, ranking, as well as some common sense adjustments for multiplayer, like identities being anonymous until the game ends. I'd also like it if the game was more focused on city building, expansion, and conquest. Wonders, great people, and world congress have far too much impact. For example, someone having some paintings and sculptures in a museum and a wonder shouldn't be outputting more culture than someone else's entire civ with theatre squares in it. These things should be small bonus's, but instead they output more than an entire civ with greater population, more cities, and the standard culture output.
I'm not experienced in Civ multiplayer, but it seems exceedingly tough to get into. Your reports on collusion is also kinda disheartening. It reminds me of SpudGun, and the usual "Asian hugbox(es)" that always form in his games. Guess bad sportsmanship is an inevitable part of multiplayer 4x...

team civ6 seems like the most balanced and interesting for the viewer, especially when its casted by experienced players. How come you do not enjoy it as much as FFA?
Doesn't look like he's going to answer, so I'll ruminate a little. Team play requires not only co-ordination, but also twice the luck necessary for solo play. Also, having a set-in-stone ally stifles freedom and emergent gameplay. Still though, Herson might have a totally different answer.

if you don't get faith from an early hut (which i'm not sure you can get with bbg?), you have to go god king for your pantheon. if you have faith tiles to work in your spawn then you could bypass god king, but that's the exception and not the norm. even if a hut can give you faith with bbg (again i think they do not for balance sake), you should still expect to run god king and be sure you get your pantheon, as other players/ai will potentially take the one you wanted or their bonus may be necessary ASAP (camps with canada, great people bonuses, fishing boat bonus, district prod in cities without a district, etc).
How come you go com hubs even in the coastal/lake cities? Would going for discounted harbors or even just harbors in general not be good there? Or is it just not worth the time it would take to research astrology and celestial navigation
apart from not getting great merchant points you will get less free inq without double adj from harbours card (or you will need to run both com hubs and harbors cards)
Amenities is the breakpoint. 8 cites with audience chamber or 10 with ancestral hall are the current standards but you can settle more provided amenities are good.
A civ with high base amenities doesn't need an amenity boosting wonder like Colosseum? Say it ain't so! Later: builds wonder anyway, explains that it opens up government options I love watching recordings of live play
Is there a reason why you don't go Scout, Settler, Settler and buy your second scout at 60 gold? With 7 gold per turn it only delays the second scout from turn 6 to turn 8 and gives you your second and third cities 3 turns earlier.
More scouting early for more consistent golden age is key. Additionally, that gold is very useful for first trader, gets the 2nd or 3rd city massively accelerated with that extra +1/+1
@@evanfrench3040 So I know he got a cut with 37 gold on his warrior, but it would still be better. With that hut he could have bought the trader on the exact same turn and also bought the scout. Both of his cities would have been 3 turns earlier resulting in +48 food/production over the differential for the first 2 pop. Even if he had to delay or build the trader it still would have only produced 8 food/production over the course of the approximately 4 turns it would be delayed. 4 turns is also within the limit for hitting the currency boost with it. Herson has much better speed at decision making than I do, but that doesn't mean this calculation works out. 2 turns slower scouting probably doesn't lose the golden age.
Rainforest hills are 2-2 base, while forest hills are 2-2 on grassland & 1-3 on plains. Adding spices to these produces 4-2 tiles and 3-3 tiles - meaning it's just adding 2 food.
