Very useful! Hearing the Bose side by side of the Alto is perfect for the comparison not possible in person. 15 months ago I ordered Bose, jbl, EV8s and found the EV8s were a better sound to my ears and kept a pair. The Bose is very distinctive and I remember that clarity and presence, so a great reference point to evaluate the ts408. You taught me another important thing.. that the fine clarity of the Bose is in many ways lost in a noisy environment. Paying extra for that detail is worth it to me in quiet listening environments, but the ts408 is okay and good enough for noisy environments. Thank you for your help! Very useful!
I would say also that the Bose clarity can still works in noisy environments, in some way that frequencies cut through, for me the main problem is the general loudness of the speaker and the hi-fi sound that can be pleasant but also weak and too much processed and not natural for some uses and some instruments.
Thank you! You have just saved me some money. I was set on the 412. My friends have the Bose S1, and the 412 (and Mackie Thump 12 & 15) which ive listened to. Ive been switching between them all as purchases for ages. But space is an issue for me (speaker size) and I already have a 4 channel mixer for eq and FX reverb to bring out the full sound of the 408. 408 it is!
That was a useful comparison. To my ears the Alto is much more open in the mids and therefore more natural sounding. The Bose, like everything they make has a lot of low mids, which sound good initially, but get very annoying in certain situations. It’s quite easy to recreate the “Bose sound” with EQ, but considerably more difficult to “un-Bose” a Bose.
3 years ago I went to test a roland piano and it was using and alto speaker 315 . It sounded amazing at low volume and I will be using jt in a med size room . Looking forward to hearing them .I am sure the 15 inch just gives more breadth . Thank you
Muy cierto en todo lo que comentas, a final cada quien se queda con lo que le guste pero ese Alto es un "caballito de guerra" muy buena opcion, de hecho compraré dos estan a muy buen precio en Amazon.
thank you Francesco, grazie! i have S1pro, if i need something more powerefull i will go for couple of ALTO ts408, with bose as a monitor!!!! what you think?
@@FrancescoNasone ciao! Si ho visto un paio di recensioni.. comunque con un suono meno pieno del Bose, ma più potenza. Situazione simile all’alto. L’alto dalla sua ha anche il prezzo.

Altos I use playing in hall spaces that are big and with a band setting I find is great, like every other PA like EV has great sound just bring mid eq down a bit treble slightly higher and your ready to go But as solo artist nothing beats the Bose you Got to have that warm sound easy set up and wide sound projection also Bose sounds great in halls bars and outside performances. You can even drive the speakers with tube amp pedal with eclectic guitar sound awesome warm punchy and loud without the harsh tones Iv been useing 6 years same batteries no issue with them they perform perfect. Alto I had 8 months still awesome powerful sound.
@@benjamingruder4875 not easy. At moderate volumes the general sound of the bose looks better but at higher volumes the alto sound more full. Anyway I’m using both depending of the kind of gig I’m gonna play…
Bose VS Alto with a little manipulation at Alto TS 408 I finally have the same sound as Bose but with much much more power . so bose pro 1 sold but bluetooth of Alto is a big disappointment. Lacentcy too long so I bought a bluetooth of 5 ms lantency with 50 euros. Beautiful
Bose never did it for me. Like the Alto much better (IMO). Other no nonsense Portable PA's are Yamaha Stagepas 400 & 600 BT, Roland Cubestreet EX. All affordable and sound terrific. Thanks for the review. 👍
Very difficult to answer it. I would say both are ok, just have in mind that alto is louder. Both can be suitable but probably you need to test them and see which one you prefer.
Could please advice me which one to go for between JBL Encore (100w RMS) and this TS408. I want to play it mostly on my room. both got similar price with some Christmas offers. TS is 30 pounds more costly. Mu second question is do you have any idea beside these two models? I love the sound of Klipsh SLP 100, to me is the best, but that is only a subwoofer and I do not know what I should buy to pair with it for highs, any advise on that would be really appreciated.
I have a pair of jbl 615 and i want to update in alto ts415 . I must mention that i have already 2 alto subs ts18 . I have a rock band and i want to perform in outside places ..Will be worth for me ?
Very good comparison. 👍 Thanks! I would be interested in Alto TS-408. Do you think it would be suitable for a duo of 2 guitars and 2 voices? We would connect the mics and guitars to a mixer, and from the mixer to the speakers (2). I have seen on the net that Alto TS-408 has 1.000 WAT RMS. Do you think would be enough for audiences of 200 people or more?
If you use a couple of speakers lifted on stands and your aim is to have a background/med level music it can works. 200 people are quite a lot but It changes a lot if you're gonna play in a theatre or a quiet good sounding space or in a loud one. You can play a proper concert in good spaces and struggle in loud venues.
@@Marthins1 I don't own the Alto's TS408 but I own Two Headrush FRFR 108 which are similar and actually seem to be manufactured by the same company. @@Marthins1 Yeah I've been using them for about 4 years I just had issues with one of my speakers but it may have been related to the place that I used them, the electricity network didn't seem to be good so that may have caused the issue, but overall I've had many events and used them for long periods of time and no issues at all, I can tell they're very powerfull and I guess it's almost the same as the altos because the speaker is very similar almost the same with very little differences

The manual shows using the SUB wired in after a mixer and the sub feeding the tops, not the tops feeding the sub, unfortunately. I had the same thought. Easiest way is to get a cheap Bluetooth receiver and plugging into a mixer, or mixer with built in Bluetooth.
I bought the alto ts408 and find not a ton of vocal anything I can do in the eq? There is vocal but to you put the volume to more than half it doesn't really come through barely any recommendations you have ?
