This is exactly what Switch 2 needed to be. 60fps in all their first party titles, a trophy system and my bet is that it’s going to have way better 3rd party support due to its rumored capability of being that of a PS4. Not surprising to me

Do you know what iteration and not a revolution means? It's just basically saying upgraded hardware (think NES to SNES or PS2 to PS3), but nothing that's game changing or a gimmick. Just a more powerful Switch, without changing or going in a different direction from the original Switch. Like Nintendo is known for since the Wii.

I was kinda hoping that I'd be more powerful as the sole reason i dont have a switch are its missing features and the ability to run games at 60 fps, and while their games are good they ain't good enough for me to play them at 30fps, hopefully im wrong but if not ima have to skip the new switch unfortunately
@@christopherlewis6915 Perhaps. If it's a generation leap, then it would be more at the power of a PS4 Pro/Xbox One X. As the original Switch was basically 7.5 generation hardware. If they had mid gen refreshes in the 7th gen. A PS3 Pro/ Xbox 360 X, that basically what Switch hardware was. Hopefully it's at least a generation leap from Switch, to 8.5 gen in hardware. But we will see. We can only speculate now.

I 100% agree the next Nintendo console should retain the form factor as the Switch. As long as it's a noticeable improvement across the board compared to the Switch I think most people will be fine. If it can output at locked 60 fps and 1080p fans will be happy enough.
The rumors all seem like it'll end up being like the Wii --> Wii U or the 3DS to the New 3DS. The same console but with tweaks to its specs.
Either way (again) if it can do native 1080 at locked 60 fps people will be happy. Of course it's a given that people would want backwards compatibility with Switch cartridges and digital purchases so Nintendo Online being used is a must.
Going from that, they need to have a more robust Bluetooth and WiFi capability and games with online need to have things like dedicated servers, roll back net code, etc.
I think Nintendo doesn’t want to go far away from what there doing with the Switch.Reason I would say why is,because they don’t want to go back to how things were with the Wii U.Right now they are doing good with this hybrid handheld/console that most people like.I just see them doing an improvement with slight changes.That is all I could see with that console,and it will most likely do great.Now as good as the Switch,I’m not sure,but most likely.

Nintendo is going to find itself out the market soon listening to this garbage on how they don’t need a powerful console. There are better handhelds on the market that can emulate Nintendo games, and they look better. Nintendo needs to make a powerful gaming system that can run these new games coming out. Nintendo=🚮
Performance wise I am hoping for something on par with or within "spitting distance" of the Series S. Minimum, the PS4 Pro/Xbox One X represents the pinnacle of LAST gen performance. I hope the Switch 2 at least can reach that.
minimum ps4 pro? come on bro.... ps4 pro is still relevant right now, nothing the ps5 is doing is exactly remarkable. switch 2 needs to be at least base ps4/xbox and itll be fine.
This is funny because the Xbox one X, 6 Tflops, has a higher peak performance gpu than the Series S at 4 Tflops.
@@suphomee123 The series S came out 3 years ago and was already smaller than a cigar box. You can't tell me that in 2024 Nintendo could produce something in handheld form of similar performance. Hell, the Rogue Ally I would argue outperforms or is on par with Series S.

@BenderOfStrings The Rog Ally is an RDNA 3 gpu with 12 CU's for 768 shader cores. The series S is a RDNA 2 20 CU GPU with 1280 Shader cores.
Now RDNA 3 is supposed to have something called dual issue, which doubles its Tflops, which is why the rog ally says its 8 tflops instead of 12.... But it doesn't actually work in videogames. The most it has ever been benched to show is a 4% improvement, instead of the 200% marketed. It works for server calculations stuff, but just not games which are too unpredictable. So Ally Extreme only gets around 4 tflops, when using its max boosted clock, which devours its battery in a bit over an hour.
Switch 2 gpu GA10F is a 12 SM Ampere (SM is nvidias equivalent to amd's CU) ampere has 128 fp32 registers vs amd's 64, so thats equivalent to a 24 CU GPU from AMD. Like all ampere it can hit the performance of an equivalent sm/cu amd card at half the clock, to say it another way, a 12 CU amd rdna 2 or 3 gpu needs to clock about twice as high to match a 12 SM Ampere GPU.
Of.course, that's only 1/3rd an nvidia rtx gpu, beyond the shader cores they also have tensor cores and ray trace cores which amd gpu's have no answer for.
Honestly they just need to give a real online. Nintendo is very behind with everything online service wise, the fact that we're still using friend codes instead of our own user id's is insane. The servers and how their online games work are ass too although idk if its just how the devs implement it sometimes but the whole process of trying to join your friend's is super complicated/annoying at times and it seems like someone always gets disconnected randomly even though their internet is just fine

No, a "revolution" is changing how the system is played or used in a fundamental way, like going to motion controls with wii, game pad with wii u, or hybrid with switch. This is why wii was codenamed named revolution. Iterations are just the same thing as before but more powerful hardware. The entire Playstation and xbox lines have all been iterative.
The switch should replace the hand held for Nintendo and Nintendo should make a powerful mainline console as well. Ill buy a switch 2 but its crazy how Nintendo is still doing the bare minimum and getting over charging so much for a supped up ps4 and xbox one spec's wise

Yes but the ps4 and Switch were still wildly different pieces of hardware. Nintendo needs to update voice chat and online etc. While Playstation and Xbox already had that on lock there is a massive difference between an iterative Xbox/ playstation, and an iterative Nintendo because the Nintendo has always lacked important features

This is sort of an extension of your, “Ambition can go fuck itself,” thesis. In fairness to Nintendo, it’s more justified now as the expectation of backwards compatibility is even higher this decade than the last.
Who buys a switch to play AAA games? It's a solid 2D sidescroller machine for Nintendo games and 2D indies like Velocity 2X. It's old tech but with enough juice to handle those type of games. Most core gamers who own a switch also own a rig or current gen home console. The switch has always been a 2ndary platform. You have to be delusional to expect the next switch to be a full generation leap. Nintendo stopped caring about power after the Gamecube. Remember to keep your expectations in check. As long as you are using it strictly for nintendo games and 2D sidescrollers, and some 3D indies that are not demanding like Horizon Chase Turbo you will enjoy it. I will wait for the OLED model so def won't be getting it at launch
Why are people talking about hardware specs? Revolution is wiimotes and gamepads. Hell the wii was codenamed the revolution.

Also we already know the hardware because of the ransom attack on nvidia last year. Got damn everybodies getting attacked and leaked recently.
Nintendo will be dragged through the mud if the Switch 2 is even remotely close to base PS4/XBone levels.
That's where the Switch should have landed in the first place, the hybrid market is going to come up with some pretty beefy next gen machines, Steam Deck 2 and Rog Ally 2 are going to dominate that market.
Another Wii U type of disaster is on the horizon if they don't plan on competing with any of them power wise.

But they are spending money on much better hardware? The Switch was using a damn mobile phone/tablet chip from 2015. Now they're (rumored to be) using a much more modern chip designed by Nvidia to take advantage of Nvidia's performance software.
It just won't be something more powerful than you can fit in a handheld and sell at a profit for $400 (or whatever the price ends up being.)

Switch 2 doesn't need achievments or trophies since they're mainly just bragging rights and nintendo already does a reward system.

That is an iteration. It's literally just a switch that goes from maxwell hardware to ampere hardware while maintaining the same kind of form factor and use case. The entire Playstation and xbox lines have been iterative.
A revolution would be something like shoving a gamepad or wiimote type gimmick into it, making it a different thing.
Although if they really said it could match ps5 performance they were wrong. Even if you clocked the switch 2 GPU to the same clock speed as the ps5 at 2.23 ghz, it would only reach 6.8 Tflops to the ps5's 10 Tflops.
Although since you said they brought up dlss, I don't think they actually said that.
