Xenoblade Chronicles X Nintendo Switch Remaster Or Switch 2 Remake? The Final Wii U Port.

- Xenoblade Chronicles X could be the final Wii U port, or rather it may see a remake on Nintendo Switch 2 or even a remaster on Switch 1. Monolithsoft potentially may call this a Definitive Edition. Is this actually going to happen? And if so, when? What changes might we see? Let's talk about it!

They spent too much money on the world of X to leave it on the Wii U.
Dude I've been waiting for a Xenoblade X port for years. Said it years ago on a video I'm tired of waiting but really NEED it now
A remake of XCX on Switch 2 would be a dream.
People are talking about Xenoblade Chronicles X might get a remake on Switch or Switch 2 but I'm sitting here waiting for Yoshis Wooly World Switch port seriously that game was fun and underrated.
Probably hasn't happened for the same reason that Xenoblade Chronicles X hasn't, the Wii U had more memory bandwidth than the Switch. Hopefully we get it for the Switch 2.
It won't. Monolith, the developers of the game, stated in 2018 it's too expensive to do it and they would want to tie the story into the other Xenoblades.
No matter the power behind the Switch you guys are completely forgetting how much money the actual developers have. Not only that but they are currently working on a Xenoblade so a remaster, if they did have the money and did devote a team to do so, would STILL be years away from release.
I love X I think it's a fantastic entry in the series and under rated. But with how closely tied to the systems that came with the WiiU X is, and how the story came to be (that ending and all the cut content) a full remake/reboot/recreation would be best.
They had so much content planned they could have easily made a trilogy out of X if they wanted to.
The producer said back in the Xenoblade 2 OST interview that X2 was going to come after 3 (xenomira blog). Seeing as they have access to the Saga license now I wouldn't be suprised if we saw X definitive and a Saga Hd remaster before the X sequel which fully utilizes the lore of Chronicles / Saga and X it self.
I think Bandai would be mainly responsible for Saga remaster, Chronicles 1 definitive team working on X definitive, and then the core XC3 team are already working on X2.
Hope Saga remaster comes on switch and the X stuff comes on Switch 2.
Really would love Xenoblade X, I've had 'Uncontrollable' stuck in my head for all of December last year.
How was the wind?
@@geowulfhartman9616 It blew hard...
I love this comment 😂@@uppernimbus
id love to see a chronicles X trilogy
Honestly considering the way the game is designed I wouldn't be shocked if they just continuously updates to X throughout the switch 2 lifespan😮
Maybe like additional DLC content two or three times
Another thing to note is Xenoblade X is entirely made for Wii U and it took a lot of development power and time to pack into the Wii U disc. Moving it over to Switch isn't going to be as easy as Xenoblade 1 DE so I can definitely see an entire remake to fully realize Mira on newer hardware, plus some substantial QOL features that accommodate the absence of the gamepad features.
this makes Little Sense nowadays.
stop making excuses. The absence the gamepad features is not a problem. Breath of the wild was originally setup to use the WiiU gamepad and then they fixed it not to and it ran fine on switch. They can port XBX if they want to, they just don't want to. The tech is there, it wouldn't be that hard. It's simply not profitable and that's the only reason why they won't.
Regardless of peoples reasons for X not being on the switch I feel in this day and age if it’s something enough people want? It would be doable. Yes X was made for the Wii U however Being personally familiar with the gaming industry and having personal experience creating and coding for games I see absolutely zero reason to not bring Xenoblade X over to the switch or whatever the next system is… aside from laziness and a lack of enthusiasm from Nintendos point of view
Remake it or remaster it I’d still buy it especially if they took their time on the port and fixed a few things. And I’m sure a lot of people would. Heck so long as it got a physical version I’d buy several copies as X is my favorite Xenoblade game hands down
Actually it would have been hard to move it to the Nintendo switch but it should be a lot easier with better hardware😮
I really want it Xenoblade X was awesome.
Would really love to see this. I own Xenoblade Chronicles X for my Wii U but never got around to playing it. With the increased popularity of the Xenoblade games, I think this game would actually do well with a second chance. It would also be a great way to bridge the gap between their next big game. Great video as always @AndresRestart
It was a real chore dusting off my Wii U and moving around storage and formatting the external hard drive only to try redownloading the game 3 times with the now not so reliable wifi card my Wii U has... just so I can get some extra footage for this video haha. The game is still amazing though! More people need to give it a try.
@@AndresRestart If we don’t get some sort of remaster or remake, I’ll be dusting off my Wii U too 😂
This is such a great game. Give it a chance. Let the Wii U rock your world for a while. It will grow on you
The real reason why XCX wasn't being ported to the switch because it didn't fit to the 16gb cartridge space, for a 32gb disc game. The switch 2 version can cut the spacing very good to fit enough.
This thought did occur to me as well. I believe there are 32gb cartridges, they are just more expensive.
Totk and witcher 3 both came out on 32GB carts. I dont thinks storage is an issue.
@@mattwolf2000TOTK costs $70 to cover those cartridge costs and both TOTK/Witcher 3 are big sellers, Xenoblade X would only be $60 and it wouldn't be a massive hit that would recover those extra cartridge or development costs
@@TheMalioman I 100% agree with you. Just stating that storage is'nt an issue as game cards come in those sizes. They could also release the game digital only, but that would suck.
I think it more so has to do with texture resolution increases, how much would that game size increase with an upres to 1080p? (or even 4K for that matter). It definitely seems like Switch 2 is more likely.
I think XCX makes sense as a Switch 1 game after Switch 2 releases
Quality "filler" game potentially
I think it would benefit from the switch 2 hardware because even on wii u it had several download patches to improve its performance, load times and such
No it doesn’t
it should be a crossgen release with enhanced visuals on switch 2
It should be a switch 2 exclusive honestly I don't think switch one can do with the proper Justice
I honestly really hope Xenoblade Chronicles X does come to Switch, because it was actually my introduction to the series and I'd love to be able to play it on Switch and for more people to be able to play it too, because it's a great game and one of the most unique and experimental Wii U and Xenoblade games too and barely anyone talks about it or has played it. Hopefully it comes to Switch with a port or remaster that changes that, because this game deserves alot more recognition and would be even more popular now than before with how big Xenoblade is now.
Why not Switch 2?
Dude I have been waiting so long for this one.
i genuinely check for news about XCX every month, i truly hope they go through with it, it was such a great game
I agree with everything you said, except for one thing: the extra story content. Future Connected existed only because there was an existing and unused map hidden away in the original game. X doesn't have that benefit.
There is so much left hanging in the air that I think it would be better to save them for a sequel. I think they will use X as the foundation for a new Xenoblade trilogy for the Switch 2.
Future xenoblade including xenonlade x remake need to have interactive grass, tree etc likes TOTK. Many current open world games still didn't have interactive environments
not every game needs interactive environments though. TOTK works as it’s part survival game. Xenoblade is an open world RPG. cutting down trees or grass would add nothing
@@cwega2463 oh ok.
I want to play this game again so badly. I loved it so much I got emotional over the opening song from ”Seraph of the End“ just due the composer of that one being the same as the one for the Xeno X OST.
I think if they implemented the visual updates they did to the Switch Xenoblade games for X it probably would have melted the Switch and ran at 2fps. So they've probably been working on porting it to the Switch 2 for it's 10th anniversary in 2025. I believe Takahashi also stated a long time ago that they weren't able to implement everything they wanted to for this game originally as well, so I can definitely see it being a majorly enhanced port that instead of having a separate story attached to it like Xenoblade DE would opt for adding more continents with more side and story content to the game, probably effectively doubling the size of the game itself in the process and probably concluding the story that was left on a cliffhanger in the DE of this game.
That's my most absurd hopes for this game though and I think bare minimum this will be a heavily visually enhanced remater for the Switch 2.
I also think that we're probably going to see Xenosaga remastered soon as well since I'm pretty sure they didn't just pass up Xenosaga getting a remaster in favor of just doing Baten Kaitos, which is a very niche series by comparison to the Xeno series. They both most likely got greeenlit at the same time, Xenosaga is taking longer to do because it's more games and more cinematic by comparison, and they didn't want to release Xenosaga the same year as Future Redeemed. Again this is me being hopeful and I don't exactly have high hopes when it comes to Bandai Namco and remaster/remakes from them in general. Though that recent Tales of Rays crossover with Xenosaga has kind of hyped me up for a potential announcement of this remaster in the near future.
My ultimate copium is that we are getting X port on launch year for the Switch 2 and make X2 Nintendo's first MMO down later on the late in the late 2020s and beyond
@@Derekuko I don't know about them doing an MMO. Nintendo isn't really known for their online infrastructure. I can see them adding more multiplayer functionality to X2 though if and when it happens.
Good video, this is one of only 2 videos about X I've seen with a decent amout of work put into it.
What is it with people and this epilouge stuff.
Thanks! Of the 4 main Xenoblade games X is the only game that does not have an expansion quest. X1 Definitive Edition has Future Connected, 2 has Torna, 3 has Future Redeemed. And of the 4, X needs an expansion quest the most given how it ends. So if we get a definitive edition of X, it would fit the pattern and also compliment the base game well.
@@AndresRestart As opposed to something like FF7 remake where the core story is altered?
@@NintendoSegaGuysyeah people don’t want the main story to be altered, they mean a 10-20 hour extra campaign that you can play that takes place after the end of the game.
I’m so ready for Xeno X! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've been thinking about this game so much lately. I'm about to dig out my wii u
Someone made a video a while back discussing it, and a big issue is the soundtrack. It has alot of music that is a pain in the ass to get the rights for to re release it. So they either need to remake the soundtrack or spend a shitload of money for music rights
I love my wii u, bought it day one release and still play it to this day. Bought Xenoblade chronicles x last year brand new 60 dollars! Got very lucky not getting ripped off lol. Xenoblade chronicles x is awesome and am having allot of fun playing it!
Andrew, Mr. restart no it is not the last Wii U port we want did you forget about the two Zelda HD?
Depends when they all come out. Im implying TP and WW beforehand lol
It would be a real shame to have this be the only Xeno title not on the switch. Just having the whole series under one roof is an awesome accomplishment and showcases the franchise incredibly.
I hope we get it 🙏
God i want a REMAKE with the original story or at least MOST OF THE CUT STUFF AS IT FEELS LIKE ONLY 1/4 OF THE GAME EXISTS
I don't care which system it comes out on as long as they do a definitive version
My will u broke and I still have my game copy…man I miss it, I will love to get back to my Ares 90 skell
Wii*
Listen, i have been waiting for this remake. I even stopped playing, think that it'd come out for the switch. But, the developer said it'd be too expensive to port. But a remaster or remake would be crazy for the new switch. This would be one of the reason to get that system. And zelda.
XCX was rushed, I think it would be really cool to flesh out the story and add an epilogue that neatly ends the mira arc rather than providing another mystery, unless they actuallly want to go back to it again (I doubt it since nobody bought the game). I also think it could use a slight overhaul in graphics, it's a very pretty game but even just adding swaying grass and nicer particle effects in the air would make it look 10x better. The biggest thing would be to update the character designs, they still have that uncanny valley XC1 Wii/New 3DS look rather than the XC2-3 look, we already know what elma looks like in the XC2 engine so it clearly works as she looks great.
I kinda always thought the uncanny valley feel was intentional due story reasons (dont want to spoil it for anyone). That said, maybe they can just put in more subtle hints and still spruce up those character models. Elma does look great in XB2.
@@AndresRestart I suppose that could be part of why they look like that lol, never thought of it, good catch. I still think it’d be great to make all the games a little more cohesive with that anime style, especially because of character creation. Would be nice
I think is not rush, they develop the game more than 5 years. The idea monolith wanted to focus on battle and exploration. Xc2 that was rushed because they only have little resource and must released in 2017 to accompany the switch realease in the same years, that's why xc2 have constant update after release.
@@doddynuryanto3800 and yet the non rushed game had a barebones story that was never completed :/
@@anonwalkerrit also ran a lot better than Xenoblade 2 since that game had awful resolution and a ton of bugs.
I can't overstate how much I loved playing this game on Wiiu. The only reason I stoped playing is because my Wiiu kept breaking and I ran out of money to maintain it. After seeing xenoblade chronicles definitive edition my eyes nearly popped out and preordered it immediately.
Xenoblade chronicles series is a must have for everyone. I would jump at the chance to play it again (just not on a crappie system like the Wiiu) if comes out on the Switch. I wouldn't mind waiting for the Switch 2 either but only because I think on a newer system it would look, run and feel better and it would have even better features.
This is one of my favorite games ever. I have over 1000 hours in it. I'd gladly pay 100 bucks for a remaster lol
They could probably do a remaster on the Switch 2 since it will most likely have the horsepower to emulate the original code. Some of the Gamecube/Wii/Wii U ports emulate the CPU but use modern rendering techniques in regards to the GPU. Sometimes the reverse is true as in the case of the Mario Galaxy from the 3D All Star Collection where the GPU is being emulated. Or something like that, I don't exactly remember, I have bad memory these days, but regardless Xenoblade Chronicles X took advantage of the Wii U's gpu and hardware in a way that the tegra would probably have difficulty handling it. I would not be surprised if the devs took advantage of the edram that the Wii U had and if so that would mean that would mean that the Wii U's memory bandwidth would exceed the bandwidth of Switch's tegra. So to get it running on Switch 1 would require a drastic overhaul of the game.
Thankfully no waiting necessary, PC has us covered thanks to emulation and what's great is there are 60fps mods, and you can choose the resolution you want also, the game looks amazing at 1080p, but you can go up to 4k+ if you have the HW.
Actually this kinda isn't the final Wii u game left there's also Nintendo land, paper Mario color splash, and yoshis Woolly world?
Woolly World and Color Splash are definitely gonna happen eventually
Well im thinking Xenoblade Chronicles X comes in 2025, so there could be some stuff between now and then. Wooly World would be awesome.
@@BoTalksGames how do you know?
@@BoTalksGames are they really coming?
You forgot Star Fox Zero.
I don't pre-order often, but a xenoblade chronical x port/remaster/remake, would get my money
My son wants this so badly because it was awesome and we both believe it will come soon we have been upgraded alot since then we can have a 1tp mirco sd cards plus with what we have now with all the games that are out now it will happen soon enough
it would be nice if it comes to switch 2 (i don’t see it being a switch release as it was a miracle it worked on Wii U, and the switch’s processing power is less than the Wii U. especially if they give it a story expansion that resolves the cliffhanger ending and remaster some visuals as they did with XCDE.
i’ve only played 2 and the first 10 hours of 1, but next month i’m rebuying the whole trilogy as i really wanna get into it tbh. they’re super cheap preowned, the only issue is how expensive the 2 and 3 DLC are
Ngl I kinda need a xcx in my life rn
As he said, it's just the money.
X was also the largest game on the WiiU in terms of file sizes.
The WiiU used single layer Blu-rays so 25GB.
X used 23GB of it.
Even with optimizations, it would still be more on the Switch than what would fit on a 16GB card.
So it would have to be on a 32GB card like Zelda Totk.
So the question is, how likely would people be to pay $60+ for a port that isn't a remake like Xenoblade 1?
Since it's just the money, I fully expect it at this point. Xenoblade is almost a Nintendo flagship at this point. The last few Xenoblade sold extremely well, so money isn't really an issue now.
I think it would be a great game for showing off the new power of the next console
I loved X more than the numbers. i wish i had internet to play it online back in the day. do any of u have any suggestions for anything new ? First descendant is the only i can see coming out that even comes close to being like X
Try looking up games with a theme of displacement or have character who are living on borrowed time, those drove the plot in X.
this video comes out as im playing X for the first time, i got it today
wouldn't MonolithSoft want their next big new game ready for the first year for next gen likely 2025? Xenoblade X feels best as a Switch game and backwards compatible with Switch 2
Maybe! Depends how they handle it. Their next big new might not be ready. I like the idea of us getting both though haha.
I think the next new Xenoblade is a little further away than 2025. Xenoblade 3 had a 4 year development cycle (started around the time Torna was released). Based on Future Redeemed's launch date, late 2026 to early 2027 is the most likely timeframe for a new entry. Xenoblade X would be the perfect game for the Switch 2's first year on the market. I think (and hope lol) we'll see X in some form in 2025.
They literally remade Demon Souls as a launch title for the PS5 and got away with it.
A remake of X would be a great first Xenoblade game for the Switch 2.
The next big MonolithSoft game would be Xenoblade X2 in this case.
@@matts.6661 I believe Monolith Soft have been working on a new IP that is next gen exclusive
I'd very much prefer it being a Switch 2 game so it'd look way nicer, but I wouldn't mind being able to emulate it right out of the gate.
I (finally) finished (okay, "beat" - I ain't 100%ing that!) Xenoblade Chronicles X over summer 2023 after having owned the game since launch. I am all for a Switch re-release and/or a "Switch 2"re-release/remake/remaster, and would once again buy the game day 1. *_So long as the Boob Slider remains unmolested this time, Nintendo of America._* Remove my Boob Slider and I no buy until I can hack it back-in like with the Wii U original.
Xenoblade is one of the Nintendo series I’ve never actually tried but it looks interesting. Maybe I’ll get a copy of the first one and try it, the gameplay in this video looks interesting,
you can find a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition for extremely cheap too. preowned is like $25. and the game is 100 hours long
All of them are great. 1, 2, 3 and their DLC are easy to get.
X would need a remake but it's excellent.
This is the Andres Restart 2024 video I've been waiting for the most 😎 This game needs a revival and this is the perfect year for it to be at least announced!! (Also I'm very excited for the Switch 2 coverage in the coming months lolll)
Oh dude, I think things are going to get intense haha
@@AndresRestart yeah! Either way I'm confident we'll see what Monolithsoft has been working on post Future Redeemed this year!
I think it is more likely that it's play on Switch with Switch 2 support... Maybe better light effect, better resolution or frame rate.
I think xcx would have to be a complete remake. Depending on the development cost I would say it would be a switch 2 release. It would just not make sense to release it on og Switch end of life cycle with 3 Xenoblades on the current system. Not only improvement in technology but it is rumored to have games cost $69.99 on release. Meaning that xcx would sell plenty as a console release title but also make that bit of extra $$$ on release because of the price hike. Just my humble opinion.
Monolith developers said back in 2018 it's not happening, it's too expensive, they would have to rebuild the entire world and it just so happens to be one of the largest in open world games and they would want to redo the story to tie it in with the other Xenoblades. Basically too much work, not enough payout.
Not only that but they are currently working on a Xenoblade, so even if they DID have the money and they DID devote a team to it, it would still be years from now that we would see it and it would absolutely be on the next Nintendo because it's just not happening.
Is it finally actually coming?... The only Reason I sold my Wii U and X is because I figured there was no way they wouldn't port this amazing game to the switch.... I've been waiting for it ever since..
This would make me buy a switch / switch 2
Xenoblade chronicles x is the best game on wii u.
Honestly they don't have to really recreate it just put all the textures through in AI image enhancer.
Fix the lighting and add the deleted content and call it a day honestly🎉
SC video next?
If they redoo xenoblade X i wuld like them to straight upp make it a MMO RPG
I would settle with a straight port.
Not at full price, but its such a good game and I do wish it was on a modern platform. I do think we need an epilogue quest though. That cliff hanger needs answered lol.
This game would be the sole reason for me to buy the console. This is the goat of open world rpg.
If it ever get ported to switch ill buy it immediately.
I hope that it it comes to both Nintendo switches
This was such as amazing game. Would buy day 1, so much fun.
Xeno X works better for a Switch 2 release. A more powerful system would be able to better run it and give the game more polish.
That's the only reason why I own a Wii U that's the only one I can get into
Needs a remake
Honestly I'd despise Nintendo if they don't make a sequel and instead gives us a port
Xenoblade Chronicles X2 Online
Let's go
I'm taking anything switch 2 related rumors and speculations and leaks like a grain of salt 🧂 all. I could see 👀 Monolith soft remake or remaster Xeno Blade chronicles X sure.
I honestly really hope we do get SOMETHING for it, wii u is dead, and the only way youd get ANYTHING for it is repurchases, and trying to get the game is either going through that repurchase hole, or risking your computer's life trying to emulate it
And mabey a NintendoLand deluxe edition😮
The most GOATed game of all time.
Everyone just needs to make gofundme page and or kickstarter and do it without nintendo. For the people by the people.
Duel screen Clam shell Switch, bring it Nintendo!!!
If Nintendo doesn’t call the Switch 2 the Super Nintendo Switch that’s gonna be ass!
It will cross platform both switch and successor. This game is purposly being held back to cover the gap till the next xeno mainline game.
if it was meant to be released to cover gaps it would have been released between 2 and 3. X won’t come out until switch 2 as the switch itself literally isn’t powerful enough for it.
@@cwega2463 no the argument for a full remake iz mute.
They already greenlit the next xenoblade mainline game. This X will be given the same remaster treatment as prime remaster. Upscaling version gor successor. This remaster will be out within 24 months or less. XENOBLADE 4 or whatever next installment is will land in the 2026 2027 window.
Xeno X will be on switch and successor.
Most of the successor to switch games will be timed with movies, events, and other partnering ventures.
Truth is the successor launching in 2024 i still only a 50/50 possibility. All of the crap version games or games that cloud only versioned for switch are all being updated for successor so Nintendo is not in any rush yo get successor to market.
News will be quite till after March because Nintendos q4 gets them allot of cash. Their physcal year ends March 31st.
We are looking at a Fathers day week reveal for successor if they bring it out in 2024 at all. Considering the switch was always planed for a 10 year min run chances are higher nintendo sits on successor for a year and releases Switch Mini and the All Digital Oled model. My expectation gor successor was always 2026. Absolute earliest for successor would be a fall 2025 if they were under a partner agreement force situation.
@@cwega2463it wasn't released between 2 and 3 because remastering 1 was much more cheaper and needed for story reasons going into 3.
X is incompatible with Switch hardware and they'd have to practically remake it for it to work. Xeno games don't sell much, so that'd be a lot of resources and time for little (if any) financial return.
it could've lead to the downfall of the series if they remade that game between 2 and 3 had it performed poorly in sales. not to mention XC2 and XC3, which the same as XCDE... were both productive to make leading to more profit and good graces from Nintendo
@@TheMalioman why would X be remade? is there a reason it’s incompatible with the switch? because the Wii U is more powerful.
and why can’t X be a port? it looks great already.
and if X was truly such a risky and expensive game that could end the franchise then they wouldn’t have made it for the dying Wii U at the time. X didn’t sell well but 2 did. a port of X wouldn’t have ended the franchise.
id rather have xenosaga trilogy ported to switch than this to be honest.
I think X should be on Switch 2. Why ? Cause it deserves more powerful hardware.
The problem with XCX ever being ported is it just isn't very good. It's almost as if they originally envisioned the game as an MMO, but then had to scale it way back before release. There some cool things being done in the game, but then there's a lot that feels incomplete and/or rushed. I wouldn't mind a new game that lives up to this games original potential, but I wouldn't touch a rehash.
Nice clown take.
I think it would have been difficult to make it look good on the Nintendo switch because look how terrible xenoblade 2 and 3 look by comparison
If they'll skip Nintendo switch and put it on 2, I will buy an Asus rog ally, put an wii u emulator and pirate it, like there's no tomorrow.
Xenoblade chronicles X should go to a PlayStation 5 since it decided to go all mecha n bullshit I didn’t sign up to play the game using a robot when I first saw other xenoblade chronicles it didn’t include a robot I won’t buy xenoblade this xenoblade chronicles T.T
My heart skipped a beat when i saw this thumbnail
Don't get my hopes up 🥲
I wouldn’t care if we get a port or a remaster. I just want to play this game! Ever since finishing XC3: FR, I’ve been wanting to play XCX so bad! But I think it’s definitely worth the wait when it does happen! 🥲❤️
Even playing it on my Wii U again in prep for this video, I was thinking damn this game is cool.
@@AndresRestartit's defintely good. Anyone pretending it wasn't is lying. The big issue is it needs a sequel.
I remember being 11 and seeing the trailer for xenoblade chronicles X. Begged the shit out of my dad to get this game for me for Christmas and I loved it. It was such a vast and beautiful world. Unfortunately I was never able to beat it nor was I even able to get a skell. It they ever remake/remaster this game for the switch will be the day I buy a Nintendo switch
