I really like how your hair is styled in this video! Very cute! Also, if I might add that I think being able to pay for things in a relationship also creates a level of independence from one’s significant other which can be important for some people. I think if what you guys do works for you then keep it up!
As someone who has been married for 13 years, I love what you said about looking back fondly on the time of your life when you lived alone and had fewer responsibilities. You have such a wise perspective on this aspect of life’s journey. I encourage you to continue to enjoy this season of your life. I love being married and being a homeowner, but I also wish I would have enjoyed my earlier years a bit more. Thanks for sharing with us! Also, your hair looks so great. 😊
The hair is givinggggg in this vid! And I totally agree with the expectations around finances needing to be equitable (not necessarily equal) in a relationship. It’s about give and take and what works for the couple personally. I currently earn more than my partner and am fine picking up the bill on the more pricey outings because I know he’ll do the same in the reverse situation.
I agree with you on paying for things for your partner. I work too, I love buying things for my boyfriend, and I don’t need him to pay for my things at any time :)
that was a really good perspective about you and JS both WFH and not having enough space to do your jobs comfortably and in peace! love your videos zoe
I love how you mentioned relishing in your time as a young person living on their own and just enjoying that time for yourself. I'm so excited to have my own place one day and I'm in no rush to live with a partner until I feel like we're gonna get married! I agree it's a huge commitment and a massive headache to deal with if the relationship doesn't work out. Just found your channel and I love it!
Nicely said. While in college I use to compare myself all the time to my friends who were majoring in high paying fields. Although it took a few year’s I’m now making just as much by focusing on what I wanted to do.
Thank you so much for making those true and real video. They really encourage me because I tend to compare myself so much at work, even though I am the youngest at work. It's quite frustrating. Can't wait to work on this and learn and focus more on my own path ⭐
I respect the financial balance in your relationship. That comment you added to the screen is nuts! You don’t need to rely on anyone to enjoy your life, it’s called being financially independent, forget those comments ❤
Totally agree with waiting to be on the same page and moving in for the relationship and not for the cost savings!! I’ve been there with the 20,000 couch that you have to figure out how to split after. Wish you and JS all the best ❤
I definitely love these videos! My boyfriend’s financial situation isn’t the same and mine. But we’ve learnt not to compare. And we don’t overthink the little expenses. We don’t split the bill and just go with the flow. Also, not comparing myself to several people I know is a daily struggle. I know our paths are different, sometimes you just can’t help the feeling. And I think about all the what ifs in my decision making processes.
You do what works for you guys! Every couple balances this differently. When my fiancé and I were first dating, we were much like y’all- just pick up the bill and not keep score, but split where it makes sense. But, when we moved into together, we got a shared credit card for joint expenses like groceries, etc. and then split the bill 50/50 at the end of the month. But sometimes we’ll still pick up dinner on our personal cards to treat the other one! And that has worked really well for us and I think taught us to approach finances as a team, which is so important! ❤
Do what works for you. My boyfriend moved in with me after like 2 weeks. So early, but I didn't want to waste time haha. Usually he payed for everything and I could pay back my student loans. But. We both thought our relationship is serious and we always had same money habits (saving, etc). 3 years after we are married and we have a little baby, a house. We don't have a joint account but all money that comes in is our family's, not mine or his money. What works for us, is that we pay for everything from his account and we save what is in mine. Everything belongs to our FAMILY.
I really liked this q&a even though some of the comments you receive are a bit extreme 😅 and it’s nice to hear that you’re sticking to your own rules ❤
I watched the whole video while I was doing my night time skincare ✨️ lovely hearing all yours answers and I would definitely want to see more q&a's from you! Maybe once every 2 months? Or whenever you want 😂💕
I 10000% agree ! I dont think my income is my partners responsibility or fault and vice versa , there was a time i made more money than my bf but i still expected him to pay half of our rent because he could, and then i would treat us to something we wanted to to but he couldnt afford every once in a while. Now our financial situation switched and he is doing the same for me and i think thats life and couple life - ups and downs and things that change. Im independent in every way but i do appreciate the extra support that i found in my relationship in knowing that if anything bad happened i can count on him, especially since i also suffer from hardcore financial anxiety. Now if there was an emergency and one of us Lost our job or something , we would both absolutely step in, but i dont feel entitled to enjoy my partners hard earned money in any way. Long way to say i agree with you 😅
I can’t believe people give you shit for JS not paying for everything 😮. Like that is a huge expectation of your partner omg plus they work hard for their money it’s THEIRS. I’m in a similar situation as you I make a pretty good salary however my bf makes double and we def don’t split 50/50. I also agree 100% with your view in moving in.
haha some people have crazy expectations I guess! Like in what world should a bf pay for all your stuff and leave no money for themself or their savings.... anywayyyyys 🙈
I used to compare myself to my friend who became a lawyer and wished I made as much money when I started out which is so stupid considering we’re just not in the same field so totally relate to that. Also Zoe have you seen Partner Track? Your relationship in the beginning when you guys met reminds me of the dynamics on the show haha
omg what!! just because you have a boyfriend means they should cover your bills?? that is insane to me lol. My fiancé and I have gone halves on everything since we moved in together (did long distance and I was living with my parents prior).
Lol finally Zoe did a video under 30 mins, 20 mins of her talking is all anyone can handle. I'm kidding we love you Zoe and yes it's best to move in with eachother when the time is right. And what I mean by that, is when God says it's the right time. In America, people fight over petty things and turn into bigger problems because of making the mistake of rushing. Love is strong but love is understood by those who are mature enough to understand it. Not just about who handles the finances but beyond that which people always miss. We love you Zoe you're like the little sister no one wanted but glad we have em 😊.
Sorry to say this, but if a GF expects the guy to pay for the whole vacation....that is like borderline gold-digging. This is 2022, so that same GF better not be arguing for equal female-male rights with this attitude. I dated a girl that wanted to meet her girl friends at a burger joint and even though we weren't eating...just chatting, she was disappointed with me not paying or offering to pay all of their tabs, this not being a gentleman.
i don't even know what boujee means ??
😂
LMFAO
TELLEM
Haha … You are funny… 👌

as long as you’re both happy and taken care about of that’s all that matters tbh
people need to stop telling others how to live.
yesss! whatever works & makes you happy 🥰

If you don’t sell anything of your stocks, you are not losing, so if your investments are long-term, don’t worry:)
