Thank you very much for your rendition of this marvelous and underrated piece. I think you clearly did it justice.
And that's saying a lot, I think Halo 2 had the best ost of the franchise because of the range of emotions provided and the accuracy with which the emotional narrative provided by the game is perfectly supported by the musical narrative, enriching it of something else. That's what separates Halo 2 of other franchises or from other halo games : in a game about a human super soldier from the future destroying single handedly alien forces, this music put the emphasis on the melancholy and deception by the treason and the realization of some of these aliens that they've been manipulated and treated like cattle, endlessly accepting oppression in the name of a plan ultimately found to be deeply flawed. You wouldn't expect that bittersweet feel when you pitch the "super soldier destroys aliens", and that's the kind of details that give narratives like the one in Halo 2 depth and consistency. You can play halo like an idiot shooting at everything and passing cutscenesand that's fine, the game is also intended to do that, but if you pay attention, you will be greatly rewarded with a heroic journey, not one of constant wins but one of ups and downs, one of small victories and big treasons, one of painful delusions and earned redemptions, one of ruthless political necessities and goofy marines one liners.
Other halo games had that feel of course, but the best calibration was with halo 2. Anyway, another Halo 2 rant about how good it is, I guess I'm preaching an already converted audience haha
I guess what I was trying to say was : thank you, you captured the feel of it all without ruining it and executed it very well. You made me reconnect with the emotions associated with Halo 2 and that's the sign that your hard work paid off and has an impact, do not ever doubt it. Your work is greatly appreciated from other parts of the world, from people you'll never encounter and that will go back from the abyss of the internet, and that's fine ! You still made an impact. We will remember you Ben. At least I'll remember you next time I'm listening to Heavy Price Paid.
