I disapprove the attitude of some of my fellow Italians to just criticize every Italian recipe/variation when it's not made by another Italian, but I also hate those who start insulting us for no apparent reason... I have seen many pizzerias in italy via youtube that are famous and try many different combinations
Guys I agree with you but one important thing has to be clear as well: pizza is from Napoli and it's local dish. Of course in Italy you can find a lot of shitty pizzas if you are in Milan, Rome, Venice and in Florence but in Napoli it won't happen. The authentic Napoletan pizza considers the dough as the most important element but for the toppings you can put whatever you like except Ananas 🍍 of course 😊
@@silviomak great, but it's just fun that here in Cracow i've got better pizzas(neapolitan, than in almost entire north italy where i've been for 10 days, and this makes comments about italian prudery pathetic. I know that napoli pizza is local dish, but there are tons of other great pizza styles and it's very hard to find when everything what is offered is yeast and thick. But i can say tho, ingredients like meat in Italy are amazing. I know Italy is core of pizza etc etc, my point is that nobody profane it as much as italians(yea pineapple, u are not counted) due to that fact it's offered everywhere in any form.

Andy H No man it’s just that you can make a pizza in an hour. It needs to rest at least a couple of hours (a whole day would be better). It’s like saying you have 10 min to make a cake. People can’t make a good cake in 10 min because it’s never gonna be cooked by that time. Plus wtf are those toppings. Gross. Even if they had time, you don’t handle a pizza like that. You should touch it just a couple times to get it into its shape otherwise you ruin it.

Andy H the reason they do this is, because first off time, and second, it forces the cooks to make their dish as appealing as possible in looks, technique and smell so the judges come over to try it
I would of took ricotta and mixed it with chopped mushrooms and oregano with a dash of mustard powder. Then caramelized bacon bites sautéed in duck sauce , then added goat cheese and topped with bread crumbs and chopped spinach. I make it all the time at home. It’s bomb!

All things you can eat even your italian culture was created because people try out different things and didnt make the same recipes for eternity. Sorry but i hate that always people cry about new creations. And most times there are italiens which cry the most.Thats food it lives for new creations and taste not from culture.
well, to be fair it makes a slight of sense.
a bit of sugar is often used to make the yeast work better, so if we consider the syrup an extra sugar dose, it works. still, it mustn't overpower the salt, even in a sweet pizza

I absolutely love making pizza, it would have been so fun to try this particular challenge especially given the time limit to do it in. My classic dough recipe usually takes bout 2 hours for it to go from dough to pizza. To proof the dough the way I like for a "quick" pizza takes 1 hour in the bowl, 40 minutes in the pan, and then bout 13 mins to bake, plus your assembly time for the toppings. However I've found that if you stick the dough in the fridge to ferment over night prior to the first proof it becomes insanely good.

I love how the judges judged Jennifer. They were so supportive and made such sweet comments, especially the second judge that tasted her pizza!

@James Laing I mean, what we call pizza is American pizza. You would never see it like that in Italy. Just like Taco Bell and Panda Express.
Though to be fair, I don't think any culture takes more pride in their food than Italians. You go to Korea or Japan and they think its cool. Same with most cultures. Food is an art, but it doesn't have to be one way. It can change, and it does. People bring foods across continents where they share their recipes. Because of availability most dishes have to change ingredients. They mix with local cuisines and become a new version. Or, sometimes they get fast "fooderized".
I made pizza with homeboiled chickpea with home seasoning and some other things as toppings and my parents loved it. I think i will make it again.

The best part of this video was Jennifer patting Cody on the shoulder, “Humility, humility...we’re going to work on that.” She’s right! Him winning the challenge, though, I’m sure her words went right out the other ear! 😂🤣😂🤣
To be honest, I found Jennifer's personality a bit grating-- Cody wasn't saying that his pizza is better than everyone else's; he said that he thinks he could have made a better pizza if given more time. Idk, her condescending attitude rubs me the wrong way which is a shame because her cooking looks pretty great :/

Like let the boy celebtate his accomplishment! He wasn't being rude. She was jusg being annoying by being a bum.

Wow I'm late but...I would say for the egg. Sunny side up style, cook it half way the let it finish in the oven during 3 or 5 mins in the oven (depending on the heat of course)
