Actually I have seen figs with pine nuts and gorgonzola as a topping for pizza in Italy but only for desert or sweet and savoury style of pizza.
A quattro formaggi is often served with fig marmelade in italy to balance the boldness from all the cheeses. Pineapple is good. But for pizza, no.

Cutter's pizza wasn't exactly a hit with the masterchef US judges. They didn't think it qualified as a pizza. All of the judges used fingers no knife and fork.

Yeah, you can tell by just looking at those pizzas that the crust is absolute garbage... some of them have some good toppings (while some put mother trucking peaches on it), but without a good foundation its just a huge waste.
This is true Grula: Minimum of 8 hrs. So all of these crusts are at best...are stretching for the sky. I could use the Giraffe quote. Two days is what I use, and it is crispy, but there are times I do love a nice thick crust. Crispy on the outside and a very nice crispy crust under all the toppings..Trade secret..sorry!!

It depends on the type of dough they use. Sometimes you do not need a long proof time

Yeah, they kinda underestimate the importance of the dough. In a piece of sushi, rice is primary and fish is secondary. Same goes for pizza. The dough is primary and the topping is secondary.
