-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Фільми й анімація
Lots of people will talk about the video. It features "The Bee Girl"! As I recall, the girl on the cover is the sister of someone in the band. In the video, it's the story of a girl dressed as a bee, trying to find acceptance, telling a sweet story. During the year this song was nominated for MTV Video awards, at the end of the show the Bee Girl returned live, to tap dance during the closing credits!
Love the song Bee Girl that Eddie Vedder wrote. Simple silly song.
❤
This song is all about the bee girl and needs to be experienced via the video.
Chris Farley was the best "Bee Girl"!
Arguably the success of this song was due to the video. There were a lot of neo hippy sounding songs that came out back then, and the video for this song separated this song from the others a bit.
RIP Shannon Hoon 🕊️This song brings me back…the bee girl 🐝
Heroin sucks
Solid C +
Blind Melon's vocalist, Shannon Hoon, was also a vocalist on Guns n' Roses' song 'Don't Cry,' that you should definitely react to!
Very rarely did a song get huge on the radio that I didn't end up getting tired of and turning off when it came on. Never got tired of this one. Still not tired of it
Shannon Hoon is from the town I live in. His early death was tragic. His mother held a vigil at his grave that continued for many many years on his birthday. It grew to the point that she was forced to quit holding them by our local police and city board members.
This song was HUGE my sophomore year of college. We played the everlovin' shit out of it. Still love it today!
What I love about it is that it just doesn’t sound like anything else.
The whole album is great. RIP Shannon, you put a smile on a lot of peoples faces.
Check out NicknLex blind melon for a 5 song reaction
Phaser on the Voice?
Dude that is 100% Shannon Hoon! No Phaser Required!
This is one of those tunes that immediately transports you right back to the early 90’s and where we were in life when it came out.
Very true.
in a melancholic way
Screaming Trees....Nearly Lost You
Yes please
Love that song!
Niiiiice calll...Dino JR 2
Chills!!!!
I love you guys
" Tones of Home" is another great song by Blind Melon.
A banger
I couldn’t agree more ,
thats my favorite
Agreed. Sleepyhouse, Change, and Drive also some of my faves on this album
These guys would love Tones of Home.
Great example of an early’90s micro genre of neo-hippy music.
Throw in some Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors and maybe even James “Laid”
@@mattgarfinkle978 I'd add Animal Bag to that list.
@@mattgarfinkle978 Maybe add Counting Crows?
Exactly. My teen years were in the 60s and the first time I heard this song, my thought was, "This could have been produced in the 60s." Peace.
Yes. Late 8ps early 90s had the neo hippie resurgence
This was so popular back in 1993, that during the world series one night at veterans stadium in Philadelphia they were playing it between innings and the entire crowd was singing along. It was spine chilling just to watch it on tv. Then, all 65,000 of them booed raucously when they turned it off to resume play. Ha. Classic!
An old customer of mine at my bar used to call this tune: "the happiest song about abysmal depression". we used to play it all the time
An incredibly sad song hidden under a joyous exterior. I’ve loved this tune since it came out.
Watching the Official Music Video for this one is an ABSOLUTE MUST!!
Alot of the 90's tunes are still too soon for me to reminisce. Maybe another decade
as others have said, it's hard to separate this song from the "viral" video for it that played endlessly on MTV at the time. Fun tune!
This band always takes me back to the 70’s when I was a teenager. They came late in music but, had the classic feel. Such a hippie feel.
I live close to Lafayette, Indiana where Hoon was from and my brother worked construction with his brother. He told my bro that the only flowers his Mom saved after the funeral were from Neil Young...
I used to DJ an Alternative Music night at a big club back in the day. Whenever I played this song, the place simply erupted! I mean, as soon as that first guitar note hit, people just screamed! People singing along and dancing on top of the speakers! It was awesome to see and experience! We really lived through the best Eras of music! Nothing will ever come close to the 80s and 90s!
The 60's and 70's !
Aww, man, you gotta see the VIDEO!!!!
I remember showing this to my daughter when she was not feeling like she had a group to fit in with. The theatre kids ended up being her group of “bees.”
What a sweet story! Glad things worked out for your daughter! 😊🐝🐝🐝
That's an awesome story!
Mississippi in the house! These guys are from my hometown and a nearby one in Bulldawg country. Also RIP. Also, the girl in the picture and the location for the picture are in my hometown.
Fun fact that Shannon Hoon sang backup vocals on the Guns n Roses song "Don't Cry" which is also worth reacting to (I dont recall seeing this on the channel)
This was my ringtone for YEARS. I call it my “happy song”
Have to admit I'd never heard this song before, but OMG does this sound like The Grateful Dead... Love it!
Shannon Hoon, one of a kind for sure!
I can remember this song was played constantly during the summer of 1994 around the time of the '94 Woodstock Festival. It was everywhere.
A strong hippie aesthetic permeated the 90s. (Long hair, bell bottoms, patchouli, cowrie necklaces, etc.)
This band was one of the best bands. There's a documentary called "All I Can Say" which is a compilation of videos that the lead singer shot up until the day he died.
You should listen "Change", "Tones of Home", "Walk", "Toes across the floor"... This group is so diverse and enjoyable.
“Change” is my favorite
Walk is my favorite along with Soup and Sleepyhouse..
Toes across the floor is a favorite.
Most underrated 90's band in my opinion.
Preach. At least once a week I can't help but think, "what if Hoon could of stuck around on our marble here."
if you guys like the juxtaposition of melancholy lyrics with a carefree sound, The Smashing Pumpkins 'Today' and '1979' are definite must listens
1979
1979 was my jam back in the day. Well crafted song!
Great recommendations, they need to hit the Pumpkins
Mmmm!
This reaction shows why A&A are far and away the best reactors.
The ONLY reactors lol! Totally in a class by themselves ❤
Once in a while they get it right. This was definitely one of those times…
Highly recommend this entire album. Especially Change. That was the first song Shannon Hoon ever wrote at age 16. Tones of Home, I Wonder, Sleepy House, Holy Man are all phenomenal. The entire band interweaved perfectly on their material.
Needs more dancing bee girl.
A lost genius. The amazing Shannon Hoon. They made some great music but i think they were just getting started when he passed away. I can remember just being shocked when it happened.
Y’all hit the nail on the head. This song is in the 90s neo-hippie genre. It’s a real sub-genre.
One of my favorite from the 90’s. RIP Shanon.
You guys will love the video for this tune. A nice interpretation of the lyrics put in video form!
A real example of the video raising the impact of the song. Everyone watching this reaction was hoping they would play the video.
One of the songs I consider perfect.
Shannon Hoon was an amazing vocalist. So much so that Axle Rose had him do back up vocals on one of their albums. He's in the video singing backup vocals on Don't Cry. Rest in Peace Shannon 🙏
Blind Melon is such an underrated band! Shannon Hoon died way too young but he had the voice of an angel!
Blind Melon is a great band and I never understood how this song got so big when it's not even in my top 10 of theirs
Check out NicknLex blind melon for a 5 song marathon reaction
Ahhh Blind Melon. I was about your guys' age when this album dropped in the 90's. This song was played to death on the radio and unfortunately, I never dove deep into this band. Fast forward thirty years and I finally dug into their two studio albums and love this band so much.
Great song. Got that peaceful 60’s-70’s groove to it.
I love this song. I haven't heard it for years. I love his voice. Very trippy, floaty, mixed with 90s feels.
The "dancing bee girl" video
catapulted my "like" for this song .
😂 LOL, the dancing bee girl, buzzzzzzzz! 🐝
😎 👍
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Just got transported right back to college. This song was so huge back then.
Shannon Hoon RIP, had a unique voice. This song came out in 1992.
Finally played some Blind Melon!
Rain is like playing stairway to Heaven with B.M. But I’ll take what I can get!
Maybe “ MOTHER” next time around?
Thank you fellas!!
RIP- Shannon Hoon✝️😘
You really had to have lived through the era to really appreciate what an absolute ray of sunshine this song is....
Without a doubt one of the best songs of the '90s. '90s rock in general was more of a throwback to the '70s compared to '80s rock, but this track in particular captured the feel of the late '60s/early '70s.
I only know this song because it was in heavy heavy rotation on MTV/ VH1 while I was in college in the 90's. I love this song it made me feel happy watching the video. Then I heard the lead singer died, that made me feel sad.
I always thought Shannon Hoon's vocals reminded me of Axl Rose. Some years later I found out that they were actually really good friends through their roots back in Indiana.
Yep, they were both from my hometown along with Izzy Stradlin.
Hoon sang back up on some GNR songs
This track is like a Time Machine. It always brings me back to happy times during the early 90’s. Now, it reminds me of my 20 year old daughter who absolutely loves this song. The happiness and joy that comes from this song will last me a lifetime. RIP, Shannon Hoon.
probably my favorite music video ever....love this song!!
I was in college when this came out and it was played constantly...you could hear it from all the dorm room parties.
Lots of throw-back 60s tunes in the 90s. One of the reasons I dig the 90s so much more than the 80s.
This song makes me think of how many people go about their days, all skip about happy on the surface but some deep thoughts going on inside. I guess it's why we need to respect others as we never really know what all is going on with them under the surface.
That song is SO 90s 🙂
Blind Melon also did a cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Out on the Tiles'. THE BEST COVER of this song EVER!
The name Blind Melon comes from an old Cheech and Chong comedy routine "Blind Melon Chitlin'" a parody of the blues man Blind Lemon Jefferson.
This is correct. Good call by you
I was unaware. Cool.
I suspected as much…I had that Cheech and Chong album “Big Bambu” (came with rolling papers if I remember the album correctly 😂).
Seems like Martin Mull also parodied that blues man with a character called Blind Lemon Pledge lol.
Thats unreal, thanks for mentioning
Blind Melons debut album is absolutely wonderful. It still hits my turntable frequently. RIP Shannon.
I couldn't decide between Blind Melon and Collective Soul and ended up choosing Blind Melon because it's such a "hippy happy" song!!!...
I hope you can do Shine soon!!! I remember hearing it on the radio for the first time in the early 90's and bought the CD the very next day!!! Ended up seeing them at a club in Virginia Beach "before they were famous!!!" LOL
Great reaction! I wish you would have watched the video. It's so amazing!
Klause Voorman on All Things Must Pass is the most melodic and inspired bass playing EVER. As a bass player I love everything about that he does on that album
One of the best debut albums of the 90s. So sad that they didn't last long. RIP Shannon Hoon.
There's a ton of great songs of theirs you should check out. My fave will always be I Wonder. (have to do the studio version, the video version is edited short. Same with Tones Of Home. Just for a warning)
Great reaction. I think you would enjoy the official video for this song. Very uplifting. The little Bee Girl was an iconic character for the time.
No Rain is an outstanding song, but a lot of people know it as a "one hit wonder" and think of Blind Melon in that way. In reality, I enjoy most of Blind Melon's songs as much as No Rain, As a Modest Mouse fan, it is like seeing that band known for "Float On" when their large catalog of music is all THAT good or better. If you enjoy this song, you owe it to yourself to check out more of this band Andy and Alex liked the "upbeat music with sullen lyrics" aspect of the song, I would say Blind Melon are masters of that...often having a musical tone that doesnt exactly match the lyrical tone...and lyrics that are strangely dark, but still leave you feeling like there's still hope left. Outstanding band.
You gotta watch the video! 🐝
One of my friends read the lyrics to this song in my Junior year English Literature class. We had a student teacher, Mrs. Bates, was middle aged in her 40s Im guessing. She had tears down her face during the reading. She knew nothing about the group or the song, but said he is clearly tortured.
Remember too at this time people still liked to dance at the bar it was a transition from 80’s dance 90’s .. and soon Grunge came . And people were dancing to this .
I voted Collective Soul too
These guys always felt like the Allman Brothers meets Yes. Lot of deep cuts in their catalogue.
Cool song and official video. What a shame the lead singer OD'd a couple years later, leaving behind a 3 month old daughter.
Overplayed because of the video. The Bee Girl. Love that video and love that song.
RIP Shannon. So young to die.
His daughter Nico Blue is now a year older than when her dad died (she’s 29). She sang some of Blind Melon’s songs several years ago but I don’t know if she still does that. She had an Instagram presence.
Shannon was good friends with Axl Rose and sings harmonies with him on “Don’t Cry”
This whole album is full of wonderful surprises. This song takes me right back to early 90’s every time. RIP Shannon Hoon.
The video was the best thing about this song
OMG did they play the hell out of this on the radio back in the day. Can't do it. 😵💫
They've probably already told you that singer Shannon Hoon died in 1995, nearly a month after his 28th birthday. He missed the 27 Club, but just barely. They have other songs but no other real hits, and a very small catalog of music.
This is super enjoyable remains one of my favorites from the decade. I hope you guys keep paying the 90s some attention and future videos. Monumental era in music.
This song def in the overplayed list of songs. It was everywhere back in the day
Beautiful tune! Love these guys
Three is Magic Number
This was on the radio when I got out of the Marines.
Good times.
Everything that is cool in this song is what’s missing in music today.
Honestly the whole CD is fantastic. Great reaction.
That first chord strum feels so good
Life is so different in this day in age when the lyrics to a song are available with a quick search. Before the Age of the Internet it took a lot of listening and puzzling out what some of these singers were saying. And even then we couldn't always tell!
I studied liner notes in LPs, Cassettes, and CDs. I've been loving the increasing trend for releasing new music on vinyl.
@@scapito Back when I was young not many people I knew could afford vinyl and a stereo. I did have cassettes though and used to love it when they came with lyrics but most of them didn't.
@@JaredOsborn most new vinyl today is averaging $35 - $45. 💲💲💲 But it sounds sooo good and thankfully I can afford to buy a new one now occasionally. I have an aunt that gave me a gift certificate to the music store in the mall to buy my first vinyl record when I was really young. And my grandmother gave me a small cheap portable turnplayer. That thing lived forever! 😂 I've been in love with music since.
I was 8 when this album came out and my big bro bought it. It ended up being one of the formative albums of my life and one I have listened to probably a million times. I recently bought it on vinyl and it's still just as excellent as it was in 1992. RIP Shannon, we miss you tons.
Oh fun fact; Shannon, the singer, was Axl Rose's cousin! You can hear him do back vocals on a few Guns songs and you can catch a peek of him in the music video for Don't Cry.
I loved this video for the exact reason it was made. The misfit found her ❤people!!! Plus, it's catchy as hell 🤣
If I’m not mistaken, my daughter was in Jr High, Blind Melon played at a street festival in downtown Dallas. I didn’t take her cuz it was a school night, but promised to take her next time. The singer died the next day. This was 30 years ago. She still hasn’t forgotten
Yet another great voice lost to a needle.
Bee girl love to all of us fortunate to live through this era.
I wore this album out on cassette and CD, a couple of times.
You’ve got to watch the music video! Iconic
It’s whole album is so good, so unique
It is weird hearing this song without watching the video. Nice reaction guys!
This song is very pleasant but the video makes it a 90’s icon.
