If A&A want to choose: The Way It Is is an insightful commentary on racial injustice; Mandolin Rain is a wistful look at lost love prompted by hearing bluegrass music; Every Little Kiss describes missing one's lover when working far from home (maybe an extended stint on a fishing boat). Love Bonnie! I was in a record store one day And I heard this awesome voice I hadn’t heard before. I asked a clerk who she was and that was my introduction. She has so much more!

Bonnie's a great Blues Rock singer and an amazing slide guitarist who did her apprenticeship as a teenager with Blues legends like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, and Mississippi Fred McDowell.

Bonnie Raitt is rated as one of the top slide guitar players in the world. Her voice in incomparable. Her favorite type of music is Blues and Blues Rock, though she does more pop and pop/rock as well.

Others from Bonnie: “Love Sneakin’ Up on You” is a bluesy banger similar to “Something to Talk About.”
“I Can’t Make You Love Me” heartbreaking ballad with Bruce Hornsby on piano.

As a longtime Bonnie Raitt, this is one of my all time favorites. Got to see her live in Connecticut! Yeah I agree! So straightforward and fun! She played blues slide guitar influenced by some blues elders. And her Dad sang on Broadway, not the same style but talented family!

One of my favorites from her-- so bouncy! As you noticed, she's not locked into a specific feel, but they definitely elicit thought and emotion. I recommend "Home", "Runaway", and "Nick of Time" for other dimensions of her catalog. As for Bruce Hornsby: Chaka Kahn did a song called "Love Me Still" that showcases everything beautiful in both her singing and Bruce's piano.

Love Bonnie Raitt. Check out a live performance! That's her on guitar, she kicks azz. I've been a fan since the 70s. I've seen her live 5 times, once with Bruce Hornsby, Jackson Browne and Shaun Colvin. She has a has a lot of great albums. When she FINALLY won a Grammy for this album I was thrilled. Well deserved. She is, by nature, a blues chick.
