I mean at this point in the timeline the sith were considered extinct for hundreds of years. Even when qui gon fought one in person briefly in the phantom menace and talked to the council afterwards they still didnt believe it because it had been about a thousand years since the last sight of one at that point

That line is probably cut for the trailer, and in the actual movie the second half "it doesn't make sense" will following a different line. Pretty standard in trailers to cut and piece lines in different context.

I tried to be as objective as I could going in. My main problem is that we hear the voiceover line, “someone is killing Jedi.” And then we see not one, not two, but four clips of her attempting and failing to kill Jedi.

Some of those Force scenes really don't exude a lot of "Force" and it just looks like Choreography from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
I think it's probable that most Jedi weren't super strong in the Force (lifting an X-wing for example was a challenge for most), but most were capable of super human levels of combat.
That's kind of how I felt too. The little bits of fight scenes that we got just seemed "off" for Star Wars.
And it's not even good choreography. It's so inferior compared to Crouching Tiger. Hollywood and Disney just don't get martial arts. They don't get Star Wars. All they care about is virtue signalling and ESG/DEI agenda.

I'm not sure they could even do star wars anymore. They've diluted it and trashed it by releasing so much garbage that they've genuinely de-valued the brand to the point where new star wars content is no longer anything noteworthy at all. 20 years ago I never could've imagined one of the most popular franchises of all time could release new content and the reaction would just be a shrug. I really hate the use of ‘bad’ in that line. It should obviously be ‘evil’, but clearly the writers think that it’s too harsh of a way to describe the Sith, even though it makes more sense in the sentence
To be fair with that line. This show takes place during the High Republic Era which is pre Darth Sidious and Pre Darth Maul. This is during an Era where the jedi kind of had free reign over the galaxy and were seen at the "do no wrong" players in the game. So that line very well could have been from a jedi because they felt like they'd need to keep power out of others hands for the " greater good" but that's just how the jedi are in both the Old Republic and High Republic eras. People just don't see that side of the jedi story because High Republic barely got touched on until now and recently with Jedi Survivors and the Old Republic with KOTOR is considered non Canon despite frankly being one of the better stat wars narratives.

I've already seen a better "Acolyte" story, because I played the prologue stories of the Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor classes in SWTOR.

As someone who isnt a massive star wars fan (nothing against it), what is wrong here? Why are people so angry?
The same thing that’s happening to a lot of major franchises. They’re just taking a popular franchise, stripping it down to nothing and injecting it with weak, surface level themes revolving around diversity and oppression. They do it so overtly that, unlike movies in the past, the major themes are separate from the story rather than being woven into it. It leaves the franchise as a shell of what it was and comes off more like propaganda than actual story telling.
The main problem this trailer has is it feels obscenely generic and bland. Like you can't tell me I haven't seen this trailer in some form or another like 100 times already. Also it lacks a lot of aliens.
The budget for alien prosthetic and vfx went straight into the executives' pockets.
They don't wanna waste money on the Force and lightsaber special effects and just stick with wire fighting combat.

My main problem with Andor was the lack of alien species that we saw, but it was sorta explained. With this new show however, there's no excuse for a lack of diversification of species.
I feel like woke Hollywood is making me more racist. 5 years ago I wouldn't have cared that there's not a single white male main character in this. But these days, I see that and I know there's probably some woke message that's going to be pushed in this. That they had an agenda to avoid having any white male main characters, and wasted resources on being diverse. Resources that were pulled away from something else - the writing, the directing, the CGI. That they probably didn't look for the best actors to fill a role, but chose them based on quotas.

You need to make the villain intimidating scary and above all gripping. That’s why Vader was so awesome because you felt his control and power by the design, behavior, and movements. He works so well because he engaged slowly and efficiently, while also being collected in what he chooses to say or not say. You have to be utilitarian with what your villain says and when they say it. Vader doesn’t say stupid things and he doesn’t talk all the time. Rogue one hallway scene was perfect to explain this. Sometimes words destroy a moment that could be awesome because you write something that you think is cool that winds up being cringe or cheesy.

It's because DIsney hated everything George Lucas made. There were rumors of drama going around that when the sequels were in development they promised George Lucas to use his original script which had Darth Talon and Darth Maul as the sequel villains after anakin killed Palpatine, indicating a fight scene between luke and maul. Maul was going to be the next antagonists for the next three movies and become a crime boss. THE OIRIGINAL SCRIPT SOUNDED WAY BETTER THAN what we originally had in the first place yet they basically backstabbed George all for "Diversity and inclusion," and woman emporement trash. This is what happens when you make an original IP, sell it to a company that has high promises for you and initially stabs you in the back by driving your franchise into the ground. Luke for the next three movies would also have a son named ben skywalker with Mara Jade Skywalker.
Not a fan of maul being the main villain as he comes no where close to palpatines level. They should have just made the thrawn trilogy film instead. It was perfect. I did like Collin trevorows scripts of episode 9 though. It was actually its own identity.
Really hope that’s not what Lucas was going with because that also sounds terrible. Still better than all the shit Disney has come up with. Just adapt the post original trilogy novels. Or, better yet, do something that doesn’t involve Force users. The only good things Disney has made are Rouge One, Andor and the first 2 seasons of Mandolorian.

Well technically Maul did become a crime boss, just in Clone Wars. And it was pretty cool while it lasted. Actually the fight between Maul, Savage and Sidious in that series is one of my all time favourite moments. "I haven't felt this presence since... Master!"

i read a lot of starwars books and my favorites are the those which are set before the old republic, when syths have entire planet and not united, fighting each others in a brutal perpetual war and jedi are struggling to survive and try to unit to fight this crysis universe, gloom, dark vibes and a lots of frantic fights, and we never had a film about that dark era where jedi's finally create the council and fight for the balance against all syths dominating the universe.
What's unintentionally hilarious is that this series is going to be set during the High Republic. A book series literally nobody cares about because there are no wars.

In my opinion the best Star Wars story in recent years was from the The Old Republic. Everything else was mid in that game but the characters storyline was top tier, especially the Sith classes.
The force was based on Buddhist monk philosophy of manifesting Ur reality and this loose Buddhist inspired theme is what makes star wars super unique along with an amazing world and no other movie past the first three has really embraced this

Disney has ruined the Star Wars IP so much that I now care significantly more about the Dune IP managed by freaking Warner Bros.
Problem with Star Wars is that it's generic. The Force has generic abilities and once Light Sabers come out, it's too OP for any non-Force sensitives. Because of that, it only works when there are few Force users. The original Trilogy worked because there was scarcity and moderation of the Force and the focus was mainly the story, not countless battles.

Yea idk about that, it can be done really well. But they abandoned traditional values and that's what went wrong. Coupled with terrible modern themes and dialogue. The original movie doesn't feel like the dialogue was written in the 70s. It works in any decade. Modern Star Wars humor will feel dated in 10 years.
I do think another timeline could be cool with jedi scarcity though. Perhaps in an alternate world where force users are monastic rather than centralized protectors (like monks instead of templar).
the problem is people believe every jedi is incredibly op because they only see perspectives of the goats like obi wan, anakin, yoda, windu, etc. Inexperienced jedi or lesser jedi can be killed by things such as mandalorians because they can’t deflect fire, can’t stop the rockets in time, aren’t as good at deflecting or blocking blasters and can’t crush beskar

All they had to do was show that the jedi and their strict teachings led to emotional instability within their ranks, which led to some defected and embracing the dark side, creating the sith. It would actually give the prequels some thematic weight by showing the jedi never learned from their mistakes, causing their downfall.
If they just did a "What if Extended Universe" books series for Star Wars in 3D / CGI. I bet it would blow up everywhere in everyone being happy.
