Eight years ago, I bought 3.5 half forested acres. It has an independent well which is the most valuable asset other than the house. I have been making/adding survivable assets every year. Last year a greenhouse and growing herbs to dehydrate and store away. I built a walk-in generator shed to keep it out of the elements. It such an advantage during outages to walk in to start and not needing to battle bad weather. This week I am installing about 6" thick soundproofing insulation. Being in the shed it greatly cuts down the exterior. I want to reduce the noise to the extent that I can barely hear it 50' away. Noise can attract unwanted people. The next items are the chicken coop, hazmat shed for fuel and propane, then a woodshed. I firmly believe we are on the very edge of a lengthy decade depression more extensive than the 1930's. More unskilled people, more crowded urban development, more financial chaos, faltering supply lines and shortages. Even with this acreage and the independent well, a greenhouse and up to an acre of growing space it will not be an easy existence. It will take a lot of work and long days to basically or even barely survive it at all.

Wow, what a great buy 8 years ago! And you are doing amazing work. You should pat yourself on the back! What you are doing is awesome.
Note for the community: This is what you should aspire to eventually! This is being a prepper!

One of the best purchases I have made is an industrial walking foot sewing machine. I also have a regular heavy duty and a light duty sewing machine. I have the ability to make tool bags, canvas tents, denim seat covers, draperies, curtains or cut apart denim jeans for a pattern to make more. With the heavy duty I make patchwork quilts or any to order. Buy a heavy-duty machine.

Man, I feel with what is going on with the economy, inflation and the Country's debt crisis, another financial meltdown could happen. So thanks for the video.

Well said! I always hope for the best. And in terms of my personal prepping, I plan for the worst and hope for the best. You never know what those "Wall Streeters" will do to the economy like they did in 2008.

I keep one year ahead on firewood . Always wood with less than 20 % moisture ( use a moisture meter to be sure ) .
Le Creuset enameled cast iron made in France is what I prefer ( use both ) . Preseasoned and never rusts .
First Aid kits lack stop bleed, burn dressing and trauma items . Have 4 and 2 are waterproof (no good wet bandages ) .
Digital pressure ( does the timing for you ) .
Rice maker- never liked rice until I tried a rice maker- perfectly cooked .
Bread maker . Never realized how difficult it is to bake a perfect loaf ( you must measure ingredient perfectly- never thought it was that critical ) .
Books on edible plants in my area -how to books when the grid goes down will tell you what to do . Have them all 100's of them-can never have too many books ammo or red wine - R Kipling
Reverse Osmosis is the way to go . No Berkey type - do it right- get it pure .
Byrna pepper spray pistol. Will blind the intruder for 45 minutes and is legal . Never go to jail for pepper spray . If that does not work out comes the shot gun .
    Be Safe .
