RNA therapies for cardiac repair & regeneration - Prof. Mauro Giacca

Mauro Giacca, MD, PhD, is Head of the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences and Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences at King’s College London. He was Director-General of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) until 2019 and became a Full Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Trieste in 2005.
Currently President of the European Section of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR), Giacca co-founded Forcefield Therapeutics, Heqet Therapeutics, and Purespring Therapeutics. An elected Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, he holds a medical degree from Trieste and a PhD from Genoa. Giacca has published over 400 papers and secured notable international grants, including two ERC Advanced Investigator grants and a British Heart Foundation Programme Grant.
