I don't understand the thumbs down. We aren't entering a quilt show but learning and sharing ideas while having a fun experience at the same time. So to those that 'thumb down'....you need to have more fun.
You do such a beautiful job with the quilts you make. I love that you use an industrial sewing machine. Your explanations are great. You don't talk down to people. You just explain perfectly how to make these beautiful quilts
Just when I thought I've seen most of your fine videos, here's another wonderful one I need to make. What an excellent teacher you are. Truly, I have learned so much from you. Keep them coming.
@@Stitchamajig Hi me too. I wish I could visit the store. But I would have to save my pennies because I could buy hundreds of pounds worth of fabric and Matt's pre cuts! Oh well you can dream.
I would SO cut that plastic template right in half with a rotary cutter! I assume the angle for the outer pieces is 60 degrees also? I would definitely have to use an acrylic ruler for cutting.
Odd that people works give this video a thumbs down, this is good instruction! You'd pay good money to take a class like this! Thanks for all your teaching tutorials and generous give aways.
Great quilt with beautiful fabrics. Another way of making the row would be to cut a black triangle the same size as the pieced one. Sew half the hexagon together (3 pieces) then add the black triangle, then the next half hexagon all along the row. Then put the two rows together to make full hexagons and then add the sashing in between. Saves you cutting the black pieces and then sewing them back together. Thanks for all your tutorials.
I wish I had seen your comment before I started. This is a much easier way of doing it. Now have to take all my hexagons apart and start over. I couldn't get things to match up correctly the way that Donna did it. Sorry Donna!
I am new to your video, and so happy I found you, absolutely beautiful quilts and you explain very well.❤I will be looking for more of your videos. Thank you

Hey Donna, I have a request. Can you teach us how to make a backing for a quilt , the do's & don'ts to be put on a long arm? I hear vertical & horizontal backing & I get a little confused piecing a backing for a large quilt?? Please, thanks!

I agree.....with Tina Stiner!!! I was thinking the same thing (as Tina) when I entered the give-a-way! Donna, I love this quilt and i am going to order a jelly roll in a week or so due to the fact I spent my "fabric budget" for the month of May already!!! Lastly, did you make the top you have on in this video? If not, do you mind sharing where you got it? It's really nice. I also love the red glasses on you! :) Donna does a wonderful job with her tutorials. I hope someday to go to Grants Pass Oregon to visit their shop. I have a niece that lives with her family in Priest River, ID and I would like to go to see her. I am trying to convince my DH to take a cross country trip! I would love to go visit some of the states I haven't been to, possibly going to Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton MO first and then go from there to Oregon to see Donna & Matt, my DH has family in Oregon and then finally go to see my niece and her family! :)
I love your channel so much!!! I would love to see a quilt as you go video, unfortunately where I live my quotes to get something quilted is around 175 up to 300 dollars, trying to make a quilt on budget there’s not any left for quilting. ( and that doesn’t include batting or backing). I so want to make a quilt from start to finish.
Donna Toland I too would love to see a quilt as you go video. I don’t have access to a long arm, due to cost and with my little machine it is a bear to quilt larger quilts on it.
I only just discovered your channel! Wow! I love the quilts you are making! You are inspiring me after being away from sewing for a few years. Thank you very much!
Oh my gosh. You have changed my life!!! I never thought of half recs for the sides to create a square. I've always made them in a whole row with all triangles.
Little confused, is this a free pattern? I couldn’t find it on the website under free patterns. Thanks, especially for your generosity! You are blessed!
The Kaffe Fassett hexagon quilt is the absolute favorite quilt I’ve seen that I can remember. Of course the pattern you used was wonderful. Also your construction is flawless. I love all Fassett fabrics and seeing that quilt hanging when you were done was such a pleasure. I smiled all afternoon. Thank you Donna.
Ooooh...I love this one! Thanks for all the fun tutorials and I love when you do a free pattern! The Scrap Crazy 6 acrylic templates has 4 1/2 equilateral triangle with engineered corners which would be perfect for this. No dog ears to deal with when lining them up
I love it that you used black for the background! The colors really popped! I’d love to see you use a solid COLOR for the background. Not a version of white or beige.
